I am not sure what all it was but I know it included a monthly "welfare" payment (I think B700), a uniform allowance I think once a year, and stuff they handed out at school every month or two. As far as I know, everyone qualifies, I know that we did, and we are not poor. And it's not everything free, it's an allowance. What happened to your: "I do think that it's an important lesson to teach kids, that things like school uniforms need to be paid for."? In my opinion, families that cannot afford school uniforms should reprioritize. Like student lunches, either everyone should get them free, or no one should get them free. Why teach kids to be victims?

Good for you, but in my opinion, if there are benefits you qualify for, you are a chump if you do not take them. I'm pretty sure I paid more taxes and spent more into the economy than at least 95% of the other families with kids at the school.
