  1. Used to think the same until my retired mate recently married a hot little nurse who works at a government hospital. He still gets the freedom to do as he pleases every day when she’s at work. He will now pay virtually zero for any future medical/hospital expenses. He will never need health insurance.
  2. Wow. Have never heard of carting a murder victim around on a motorcycle before. Amazing Thailand 🇹🇭
  3. Thanks for the $750, West Indies! ❤️
  4. Try this: 1/ Delete LINE. 2/ Stop disrespecting your wife.
  5. Agree! And don’t forget Sydney! I have friends who live in the west side of Sydney. Good luck walking those streets at night… these days it’s similar to walking the backstreets of Beirut, Palestine, Lagos etc, not a “Smith” or “Jones” left there anymore.
  6. Clearly, you do not know what you are talking about.
  7. Clearly you are out of touch with technology by criticising the suggestion of using a phone for all debit card functions…………
  8. Not the slightest problem with either of your perceived scenarios: 1/ Buy a better phone to avoid “crashes” and 2/ set up automatic back-ups of your phone to the cloud in the event of it dying or loss. Get with the times. Never carry a wallet again. Everything these days is on your phone including your debit card… obviously! Hope that helps. You’re welcome!
  9. Don’t need a debit card. Use your phone instead for all purchases and cardless ATM withdrawals
  10. Budget Night is only four months away and all you have to offer is a measly discussion paper ?! Don’t hold your breath on there being a change of legislation any time soon. Next.
  11. proposed changes?? Please send a link showing the proposed changes.
  12. 14 May... so only four months of speculation to go. Phew!
  13. Agree with your math mate and sorry to hear that you might not be returning to do the 2 year stint in order to grab the extra 50K baht per month. Surely there must be a cost effective way to return to AU for 2 years? Maybe a fellow AN forum member on here can rent out their AU property at a cheap rate?! So even if you own an empty caravan in Aus, please let us know!
  14. could I just leave the super where it is as an asset and not have a home? YES https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/assets-test-for-age-pension?context=22526
  15. That’s correct, you will get the pension straight away but it won’t become portable for two years should you want to move back overseas. You will find the cost of living very expensive compared to Isaan, but if bored and lonely in Thailand then going back to be with the grandkids etc should be a good option for you…providing the pension is enough to give you the lifestyle you want. Good luck. Let us know the outcome!
  16. Can't read the words, but thanks anyway. (just wondering why a government would dictate such a ruling)
  17. Subtitles is your friend. You’re welcome!
  18. Apparently it is illegal to go out in public without underwear in Thailand. But why? Anyone know the real reason? Asking for a friend.
  19. Mate be mindful of the current falling market in some areas of Sydney! From memory you too are also from the St G area of Sydney, so this excerpt from p22 of today’s Syd Telegraph article on the subject maybe of interest: “Ramsgate Beach was also the coastal suburb with the biggest fall in prices over the past year, with unit values dropping by an average of about 27 per cent or $329,000” I can PM you the full article if interested. Just trying to help, not alarm.
  20. Thanks, but the question is about "when". The link doesn't say when it might be legislated. So once again, do you know when we will finally know if there will be any legislation change? Budget night? End of fiscal year? End of calendar year?
  21. When is the "proposed" date of legislation please?
  22. They start between THB80K - 120K.
  23. Starting salary for a doctor at a government hospital is around THB50-60K per month. Psychiatrists at a government hospital start a little higher than a doctor but at a private hospital earn anywhere between 120K - 300K….or more.
  24. Another reason never to buy in Thailand.
