If you transfor 800k first year, and you spend half of it, then it is only 400 to top up for next visa renewal. I have now renewal at a time I most likely always will be there, and this year I will only spend 4 months in Thailand total, so 800k should not be to difficult to maintain there. Axa doesnt do only insurances for old people on thight budget, and do have a solid backing. WRL? They constantly talking down on the bigger companies who have proved their backings. If I have to choose, I choose Axa, but I do not have to, since I travelling back and forth, and need only travel insurance which cost me 8k a year only. But I do pay tax and have private insurance connected to social security back home. It always comes down to what options you have, and how much you want to spend. I would say WRL is risky, but good someone do take the chance as said, then we will know more in a few years
