Tourists Urged to Download “Tourist Police i lert u” App
John Drake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If they want to protect tourists, Thailand should create an app that does just one thing: automatically blocks any tourist from renting a scooter or motorcycle. -
Thai Airways accused of favouring foreign passengers over Thais
John Drake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't care about the service. All I ask for is a little quiet, nobody's feet pushed up on my arm rest, and a little leg room. -
Thai people love Chuwit. Elderly foreign potheads hate him. Glad the latter don't have a vote in things.

Elon Musk: Twitter boss announces blue tick shake-up
John Drake replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
Article also said this: Certainly not something I would know about. But I'm guessing Elon Musk knows more about it than anyone posting to this topic. -

Wouldn't it be easier to just stop the burning inside Thai borders? -
Why were 20% of the Thai population not infected with COVID-19?
John Drake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I was never infected that I know of, at least no symptoms. Plenty of people around me were. Why? Maybe because I took the Chinese vaccine. 555 -
Acclimatizing is important, here, I think. Staying in an air conditioned cubicle is not how I want to live. I, like many people in this thread, don't run the a/c during the day. But I do at night, if for no other reason than to reduce the humidity. I usually set the a/c at 30 or 31. Put a fan by the bed and you even need a blanket.

FWIW, according to Wiki: "China Media Group (Chinese: 中央广播电视总台; lit. Central Radio and Television General Station) also known as Voice of China,[1][2] is the predominant state media company by means of radio and television broadcasting in the People's Republic of China. It was founded on 21 March 2018, as a fusion of all state-holding media enterprises including China Central Television[note 1], China National Radio, and China Radio International.[3] China Media Group is under the direct control of the Central Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party."

Naughty foreigners record 180 criminal charges this year in Phuket
John Drake replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Good grief. Do you actually read this forum? Stories are published here all the time that single out Russian gangs, Chinese triads, and French biker gangs. They dominate these fora. And now the stats you are so eager to apply come out in the OP and tell you exactly who is committing the crimes. As for the personal experiences, yes, that is what individual posters contribute to either support or disagree with the OP. That is how these pages work. And, frankly, I don't care about what you've experienced or what you think. The Russians I've run across are hostile, aggressive, and rude. So whatever you think or believe does not invalidate my experiences. Egad, the virtue signaling! -
Not many people on this forum are going to see anything near 140 units. A few hours of a/c at night will put them near 300 easily. I didn't even use a/c last month but still pulled down 194 units. Mainly because of the refrigerator and the electric oven, I guess. I see some people paying 10,000 baht per month for electric. I can't imagine. They must live in a meat locker.

Naughty foreigners record 180 criminal charges this year in Phuket

The evidence that the OP presents indicates the Russians, French, and British are at the top end of criminal activity as it applies here. That is what the topic is about. -
Govt Invites Public to Buy Fruits From Thailand Post
John Drake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Where is all that durian overproduction? The prices are going through the stratosphere as gobs of the crop are now sent to China. I did buy some durians at a stall the Taling Chan Post Office set up inside its parking area last year. They do a better job selling than shipping, IMO. -

A high percentage of Russians will result in a higher percentage of assaults, vandalism, and immigration violations. As for the French and British, that's a bit different. The British, at least based on the anecdotal evidence in this forum, only seem to get into fights when they're younger. Otherwise, they just tend to be loud drunks, which may or may not lead to all that jumping off balconies and scooter accidents and the concomitant proliferation of Go Fund Me accounts. -
Yesterday's Bangkok Post reported that the Phuket governor met with the consuls of 23 countries about the crime their citizens were committing. According to the same article (just google "Russians Top Crimes Foreigners Bangkok Post"), the people responsible came, in order, from Russia, UK, France, China, and Germany. What is it about people from these countries that when they get to Thailand they act like wild animals? Some are worse than others, granted, and others' crimes may amount to more like safety violations and being loud while drunk. But some come here and go on a violent binge of intimidation, fighting, stealing, money laundering, online scams, and blackmail/extortion. I know that pretty much for me, most of these tourist zones have become No Go Areas. And I'm really starting to think that the days of Covid lockdowns weren't so bad after all.

Prayut Warns Pheu Thai Might ‘Slide Off Course’
John Drake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Look at the Twitter accounts for PT and Ing Shin. They are sophisticated, on target and effective. Don't see the others matching them on at least that social media platform. -
