  1. Great incentive. Now if they could also look into all those having purchased a house on leasehold and enable any foreigner in such a situation to be able to fully purchase and own the land at at the local thai rate. That would be perfect as ti would enhance tourism and revenue overnight and encourage higher foreign investment and revenue.
  2. Was checking on a weather radar site. Quite scary as there was this group of clouds all day evolving all over the east and west rather normally and suddenly as from nowhere a bit depression just blows up all over the Gulf of Thailand and part of the Andaman sea on the west as if it just jutted out of nowhere.
  3. I switched to prepaid sometime back and never recharge more then 50 THB at a time that is usually once a month. For calls it's only via Line, Wassup, Viber or via Facebook Messenger or e-mail. When there is only 1 THB credit left with True, by some divine miracle those annoying paid scam SMS just stop. Also activated the wifi calls and desactivated data roaming. Never doI give out the local Thai number to deliveries. Only give then the foreign GSM number if they insist and claim not having Line or Wassup.
  4. Any thoughts on the favorite spots of these slithery fek@@rs ? (my appologies to all snake lovers) Under wood piles or bushes obviously shoes or a washing machine outside .. behind outdoor cushions air vents water evacuation gutters the toilet apparently ? ...what else...? And have heard of specific products that can be sprayed around the house to keep them at bay ? any ideas ?
  5. Very true what you say...and thanks for the reminder...I forgot to include the crooked lawyers and insurance brookers too !!!
  6. I have often seen in life, the richer people are, the more they usually bargain and do not pay up blindly. Same for looks an appearance. The super top rich are usually discreet, dressed sometimes as paupers and do not exhibit the apparel of the yuppie upstart types, living mostly on debt and flaunting possessions in public or social media. India has many very wealthy people who love to come to Thailand. All depends in which circles one evolves. Obviously if one goes to the lower budget and standing venues around Nana or Walking St - Beach Road in Pattaya, one would mainly bump into the specific patrons within that social range and from any country. if one moves in higher social circles, one obviously bumps into people in that social level from all nataions. Simple.
  7. If OP has doubts, plainly use the settings feature of your Thai bank account and put 0 on the different variations of payments/transfers from your account. Of course, a bit of a burden as each time you would need to use, you will have to reset the numbers to let the payment go through. If it's a foreign bank account, once you have given all the details and got your visa, just change the account number with your bank and mention it's for safety reasons.
  8. Fully agree with You. One could even give a closer look at affordable CCTV systems that detect any movement. Modern tech is accessible to all and perhaps the authorities should subsidise security for the farmers...and also provide more environmental alternatives to dissuade crop burning festivities !!!
  9. With no intention to finger point, the bureaucracy in Thailand does have quite a few absurd and time consuming requirements. Residence certificate requirements, TM reportings when you have family comming over to stay at your own place, 90 day reports...just to name a few. Not to mention how some DLT or Immigration offices make up their own rules, depending on who runs locally the show and the mood of God (the clerk) behind his counter. Why insist on the residence certificate for almost any administrative formality, when proof of address can be easily checked with a phone-internet bill or even the official leasehold document with the blue book ? Yes, respect to this lovely country, it's officers and laws, by all means. But does this not apply both ways ?
  10. For god's sake...just leave all the "entertainement" animals of Thailand in peace and stop riding them as if it was a Rodeo ....stop encouraging such trades that are harming other living creatures. You love animals ? Fine then give rather a donation to any animal shelter camp and get a selfie next to the animal with no physical contact - this shoud be enough to post and brag on the FB page, right ?
  11. Call customer support of True, they could of course look in the matter. But I would first check with the bank or company overseas as had similar issues last month and it was the online retail seller (who's name starts with a big A !!) that was at fault. Keep in mind also that Apple or ios app developpers seem to be doing almost daily security updates on many apps, on all the iOs etc.......so it also could be due to that. Looks that cybercriminals are trying to penetrate the iOs or OsX when one sees so many daily updates on the iphone ? But then I am no specialist...just wondering what's goin on. Good Luck.
  12. Very true Sir...and it's always just so pathetic to hear and see foreigners moaning and accepting to pay the cheating prices on the pretext that it costs less back home or there or elsewhere. You do not compare with prices back in farang homeland. You compare to what is comparable, in Thailand, on considering local spending power, salaries etc. Often it those mindless tourists or foreigners just payin'up who also create inflation. Not saying to argue, last thing to do with a taxi-tuk tuk criminal. If feeling scamed, better to just smile, say No politely and walk away...and use public transport, skytrain, Bolt or Uber depending in which country or region you are.
  13. Every girlie will love it and want to do the usual romantic-dinner-river cruise that is usually the perfect tourist trap. But to please those ladies and to see them thank us later back home or in the hotel, we would go to any extent, no matter how boring it may be !! 🤣
  14. Tuk Tuk and taxi cheats in Thailand are amongst those who harm tourism. A foreigner getting cheated in Thailand will obviously mention the fact all over social media once he is out of the country usually. In today's world information spreads fast. The government must crack down on all the taxi and tuk tuk cheats who refuse the meter. The government must..must impose all tuk tuks to have a meter and only charge by that. If not, tourism will continue to suffer with people cheating all over Thailand in the transport business.
  15. A good lesson for the Korean immigration brutes who were thinking no end of themselves and discriminating Thai's. A "funny" thing in life is that it is usually those who are discriminated or shunned who tend to take it out on others once they are back home. Thai immigration should learn to be more neutral and helpful towards foreigners in Thailand. If not the quality foreigners in Thailand who are the expats, retirees who bring in good money will also just leave to more foreigner friendly countries all over Asia or India.
  16. Very true as speaking nicely to people can lead to amazing mileage. Thanks for your comment.
  17. In Japan the Karaoke bars known as escort-bars, are plainly brothels.
  18. Racist low-life pigs are all over, unfortunately...from Africa to Antartica to Ushuaïa.
  19. Maybe it the isolation of the hotel's windows that is equally to blame ? Emergency vehicle sirens can get annoying on the other hand, no doubt, except if it's a vehicle that'a comming for you to get you out of a tight situation ? It may sound absurd to see a emergency responder, heading to a incident with lights and sirens on full blast at 3 am in the morning in a deserted area. But on the other handm depending on local legislation, in case of an accident involving an emergency response vehicle, the responder-driver can be held liable if only the lightbar was ON without the siren...
  20. The problem is that the magnificence of the high rise urban view of BKK in any trendy rooftop bar, is usually spoilt by the house DJ blasting his dance music at 180db and a drunk pack of noisy expaty posers, all set in mode "look-at-me".... howling almost as loud as the music,.
