Quite happy with this governor. The city lags other cities in terms of green space and this is an appreciated addition.

I see your point but, as you mentioned, it is unprecedented. Nixon was lucky. -
Donald Trump's Saudi Arabia Payments Spark Calls for Fresh Investigation
Purdey replied to Scott's topic in World News
Admittedly, the accusations against Trump have not led to imprisonment and there seems to be no way of succeeding. Dems know if they put the orange one away, there will be repercussions. People can write all they want but unless he is put away by a jury, it isn't going to happen. -
Eleven baby turtles perish after eating plastic and garbage
Purdey replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Whenever these stories come up I would like to know which plastics were found. Name and shame. There are many types of plastic (who would lump a Ferrari with a Suzuki? They just aren't the same). I can't understand how a small turtle could get a PET bottle in its mouth (they take hundreds of years to break down I read). Also when the author writes "plastic and other garbage" what was the other garbage? Be clear. Was it worse, the same or better than waste plastic? Some computer parts are poisonous for instance. Years ago the media went after lead. Then there were warnings about radioactive waste being dumped. Mercury too. All I ask for are the facts in full, not half truths. -
As with all punitive measures introduced by the RTP, the problem lies at the point of contact between the police and the offender. Being stopped for any infringement, whether it's a fine or imprisonment or a points deduction, if the "public servant' accepts a bribe before recording the offense then it will remain useless for all practical purposes. Drivers need to fear being caught because they know the law will be enforced.

For a highly religious people, no one says natural disasters are God's warning. -
Americans have a strong need to prove that carrying a gun makes them a man. It tends to make up for their insecurity. The myth of good guys with guns imploded at Uvalde. The UK population wanted gun control but didn't ban guns. Hence there are gun incidents still, but as other posters mentioned, it is rare.

Pattaya Tourist Police Vow to Deter Crime Against Chinese Visitors
Purdey replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
My company owns factories there. The people who work at managerial level are polite and a little shy. It just means you've never met nice people there and like to show off so they don't like you. What to say? -
Top Thai virologist says if you’re healthy “you can ditch the face mask”
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Seems like many are not worried. One colleague wears a mask due to an allergy caused by PM2.5. Others just seem to prefer wearing a mask in the office. -

As I have only been to China 3 times then it is just my experience. Maybe the Chinese I met were not the same as the ones you met? -
That's why it is AI. Current tech may not be able to distinguish among them but it doesn't look like an impossibility. Keep browsing Amazon! ????

TAT aims to make the whole year high season for travel in Thailand
Purdey replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This doesn't feel well thought out. What's the plan to stop PM2.5 poisoning tourists? Are tourists likely to stand in a torrential downpour and exclaim, "This is what I like about Thailand!" So Chiang Mai represents the old Thailand - breathing in the fumes from the traffic jams reminds me of the Lanna Kingdom! Why don't they make a plan based on reality? -
Pattaya Tourist Police Vow to Deter Crime Against Chinese Visitors
Purdey replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Puzzled by how Chinese tourists will help the economy. They are generally shy in my experience and don't drink much because they get drunk very fast. What does Pattaya have that Chinese families want? Are they famous for spending in Thai shops? -

Businesses on Khao San Road Likely to Pick Up in Q3 with Chinese Arrivals
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Had no idea that Khao San was popular with Chinese tourists. -
While the Future Forward party has not shown itself as more wily than the dinosaurs, it hasn't gone to the dark side yet. People like them because they seemed to offer a New Hope. If they win (unlikely) it won't achieve too much without its founder and inspiration. People here like the status quo. I'm sure they will get a lot of the young vote, but i can't figure how they will out-fox the old foxes.
