Global Heat and Climate Extremes Endanger Billions
Purdey replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I expect more people to say the heat is normal for summer in the face of evidence that it is not normal. Let's see. -
Foreign man caught urinating on tuk tuk amid traffic jam in Phuket
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
He could have just gone to one of those handy free public urinals that Thailand is famous for. Oh, he did. -

Thaksin Plans Electoral Changes to Counter Move Forward's Rise
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The same trickery has always played a part in politics here. I see MF being split up and its members moving to other parties. -
Just taking the original post at face value, without adding opinion, it was a Bush Republican government that ignored the warning signs of 911 and Clinton's Democratic government that prevented more attacks. In addition, at the cost of stirring up a hornet's nest of AN approbation, it could be said that the Democratic government under Obama found Bin Laden while the Republicans did not.

Historically, vandalism seems to be a way of making a point. Throwing someone else's tea into Boston harbor or burning down the White House were seen as making a point. Defacing national icons during the french revolution also. In all cases, action was taken against vandals, as well as, no doubt, will take place now.

FTI Urges Government Action as 567 Thai Factories Close in Five Months
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yeah the digital wallet is the short, medium and long term plan because there is no other plan. Maybe allow foreigners to buy one rai of land for residential use will bring in some billions in cash but 75% of condo ownership? Oh but then the Chinese will own Thailand! Sacre Bleu. -
Is NATO Ready for War? An In-Depth Assessment of Defense and Deterrence
Purdey replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I didn't hear anything about NATO attacking Russia, just the other way around. Could happen but unlikely to. -
Is NATO Ready for War? An In-Depth Assessment of Defense and Deterrence
Purdey replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Does Russia still have sufficient professional soldiers to attack several countries at once? I assume they have to win in Ukraine first or find their armies struck in the back. -
Fox Poll Has President Biden Taking a Slight Lead Over Trump
Purdey replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Hilary won the popular vote with 3 million more votes than Trump. Biden received 7 million more of the popular vote. But you can win an election with 270 college votes and just 11 states (out of 50). (number of electors, total electors) California (55; 55) Texas (38; 93) Florida (29; 122) New York (29; 151) Illinois (20; 171) Pennsylvania (20; 191) Ohio (18; 209) Georgia (16; 225) Michigan (16; 241) North Carolina (15; 256) New Jersey (14; 270) 🙂 -
Classrooms in Louisiana Must All Display Ten Commandments
Purdey replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The Establishment Clause states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" thus preventing it from establishing a religion but the state of Louisiana isn't Congress. In the strictest reading, the Establishment Clause proscribes any adoption of an official religion by the federal government. Doesn't say anything about a state government. However, in a number of decisions, the Supreme Court held that because of the Fourteenth Amendment, the protections of religious freedom in the First Amendment are enforceable against state and local governments. While the U.S. Constitution does not mention God, nearly all state constitutions reference either God or the divine. It will be interesting to see what Louisiana does when other religious group claim their right to equality under the Constitution. Moreover, nearly every Christian is going to hell if you look at the 10 commandments from the perspective that Moses was a Jew. -
Why post so many videos of an UBO (Unidentified Blurry Object) passing overhead? Yes, we don't know what it is but it could be Superman or an RTAF jet.

All world wars were started by Christians (well, all two of them). Not to say the Iranians are not dangerous but Russia (Christian) is far more likely to start a world war. Quite separate from terrorism of course. The people (whoever they are) who have caused or tried to cause regime change (Iraq, Cuba and so many others) through violence are also terrorists. But they are our terrorists I guess.

DP World Bids on Thailand’s Major Land Bridge Project
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am still betting that Singapore and perhaps Malaysia will kill this project at some point. Meanwhile, let the Prime Minister make some cash. -

Thailand Prepares for Casino Boom Amid Economic Hopes
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The government is one of the weakest brained bunch in many years. Yes, lottery and horse racing exist, but how have they grown the economy more than a tick? Long term investment by foreign manufacturers and educational development to meet the needs of the market would help the country much more. -
Move Forward Criticises Thai Budget and Digital Wallet Plan
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A smart Sretta would announce in parliament that he is withdrawing the policy as Move Forward leader Chaithawat Tulathon doesn't want the government to help poor people. Then hold an election immediately. It has reached the point where the poor expect their freebie, never mind the consequences. -

Fauci Diagnoses America: 'A Degree of Schizophrenia'

Vitriol. That's a good word. -
While I wouldn't put down the fact there was peace during his presidency, for whatever reasons, I wonder if foreign policy is really a major talking point for the election. I get the feeling the national economy is a bigger issue.
