  1. I couldn't find the age of the grandmother but if she was in her eighties, she may have been taking her life in her hands to video the rape as she could have been beaten severely and the video destroyed. The fact that she had a video and the police did nothing is the incredible part.
  2. You have to feel sorry for him, having to wait so many years for his mother to go then getting sick shortly after his ascension.
  3. I remember reading that thais were often naked in battle except for tattoos. Women wore skirts and went topless often. Europe needs to claim it patented trousers and blouses now.
  4. It seems like Thailand is yet another "hub", this time a hub of kiddie fiddlers. As long as the police do their job the matter will go away until the next time, more's the pity.
  5. A pity the "artist" didn't mention how many yobbos high on weed started fights in the concert.
  6. Never heard of any country where so many people fall from balconies. The Costa del Sol in Spain comes to mind. So many drunken tourists but no headlines about regular defenestration.
  7. There are Thai people pointing out that a certain group took Suvanabhumi Airport hostage for a month and were given a slap on the wrist.
  8. The article should have mentioned the three issues. What I am puzzling with is, if a law says, perhaps indirectly. "you cannot change this law" and you try to change it so that it says instead, "you can change this law" are you breaking the law by trying to change it?
  9. I don't know if I understand this correctly, but why do people think the court should be elected by the people or do what the people wants? The constitution and the laws of the land inform the court what can be done or not done. If the constitution contains clauses protecting any institution, that is what the court must follow. I don't see they can choose to ignore or change the constitution at the beck and call of "the people" . Perhaps the court can interpret, to clarify something, but it would be duty bound to follow the law wouldn't it? Perhaps the fault is with the writers of the constitution, but a new government would still have to be cautious of breaking the current law while trying to rewrite it.
  10. How to destroy the reputation of a company. 1. Sue your customers if they get upset. 2. Don't reply to customers to explain the reason for a change to the paid service. A lawyer does that best. 3. When the customer retracts the criticism after receiving an explanation sue anyway because nothing teaches good manners better than a court where all future customers can see how vindictive you are.
  11. Free market economy? But China subsidizes its steel and Thailand would never dream of that...
  12. I suppose they don't rely only on tourism.
  13. I saw Stephen Fry interviewed on Irish television. He really made a few good points. 170507StephenFryRTE_desk.mp4 Maybe go for the Greek gods?
  14. Reading the Bible helped a lot... Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel. (1 Peter 2:18) If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity. (Deuteronomy 25:11–12) You shall acknowledge no God but me. . . . You are destroyed, Israel. . . . The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open. (Hosea 13:4, 9, 16) Thor would never have said any of this.
  15. While I see Odin and Thor are pretty good gods in the films, I know they are fantasy. I see the Christian god as a pretty negative fantasy.
  16. The Swedes could sell Gripens, which are supposed to be good, just without the engines.
  17. I would mention that when North Korea invaded the South, the UN called on forces to repel the invasion. Not a peacekeeping force I agree. But, as you say pretty useless.
  18. Completely off topic. The article is about the border and immigration, not all the other lies he told.
  19. While the ICJ doesn't have a military force, the UN does have international peacekeepers that it has used in the past to separate antagonists. Having said that, I doubt Hamas or Israel would want the fighting stopped.
  20. For a country that has an excessive number of people in debt, lowering the interest rate to encourage more borrowing seems a tad unwise.
  21. Lest we deflect, my comment was about the fact he continuously stressed Mexico would pay, not Americans.
  22. Why do people forget who promised Mexico would pay for a wall? Now border security will be paid for with American tax dollars I guess.
  23. Just like pawn shops the racers should have to pay a sizeable fine and if not their bikes could be sold off in lieu. Not sure if asset seizures are allowed as collateral for fines but makes sense
