  1. Having lived in China, where, in some places, you will get robbed once you turn around, despite security cameras, I bet that one of his 'friends' was the perpetrator.
  2. That's why most countries concentrate their measures on arrivals from China, while Thailand is doing the opposite.
  3. It will probably turn out just like the Ukraine conflict, with the U.S. providing weapons and intel, and otherwise wishing Taiwan 'good luck'... However, the West (and the whole world) has more to lose this time, not wheat or gas, but Taiwan's microchip production, which China, no doubt, will use to its sole advantage.
  4. One of the reasons, surely, is that, different from most countries, China's government decided that 'the young' should get vaccinated first.
  5. Yes, that's exactly what is currently discussed in my home country's mass media: "The times that we wished our kids to be better off are over, and we need to get used to being worse off..."
  6. So, one will get tested on arrival? Any info on the costs?
  7. Are these the latest requirements to enter Thailand?
  8. How reliable are such numbers? They probably are derived from interviewers asking travellers 'how much they spent during their stay', with the latter inflating such expenditure figures. (I know, cause I went through such an interview by Tourism Malaysia years ago.) - I guess, it's a bit like a bloke being asked 'how big is your member'. He will (most of the time) say that it is bigger than it actually is. In the past I've seen plenty of Chinese tour groups around the world, in Europe, Down Under, Hong Kong, and Thailand. And they always seem to spend money at the same hotels, restaurants and tour companies.
  9. The possible emergence of new variants and subvarients in China, thanks to 500 million and more infected has been discussed in international news items. As for the money, it tends to benefit only few businesses in Thailand.
  10. They love the Chinese. If they come, no more emphasis on Indian visitors.
  11. Chinese (and Thai) Covid patients at hospitals. Possibly a lockdown, school closures, restrictions due to higher Covid numbers, economic impact...
  12. Hope, the average Chinese is better at learning Thai than they are at learning English...
  13. My prediction too. Less income than they expect, but many more unwelcome repercussions...
  14. Yes, I get it that (some) Thais are very excited about the Chinese coming, but why are there such posts and articles about twice a day for the past two weeks now?
  15. The TAT produces one every couple days...
  16. Good to know. Haven't ordered from Lazada for a while now, as, at least the imports from China, were of a low quality.
  17. I guess the seller can raise (or lower) prices, e.g. around the holidays when demand is higher. You could refuse delivery, but as BritManToo pointed out, the seller may not be pleased, and might refuse COD next time.
  18. Amazing how busy they get when it comes to attracting tourists from that particular country.
  19. My strategy now is 60% of the time in Thailand, the rest somewhere else, rather than staying mostly in Thailand.
  20. They should have employed technical engineers from Thailand...
  21. Being a tourist in Melbourne sucks, stepping off a plane, and supposed to use a 'MyKey' for all transportation, even though you have to get it at hotels or shops (in the CBD). Plus, taxi drivers who have not enough cash for your change, but give you an expensive tour, by going four times 'around the block'... ????
  22. Heavy, so might lead to being charged for excess weight, depending on your total luggage.
