  1. Showing the true face of this government. All for the Well-To-Do minority, as usual...
  2. On a recent Pattaya trip I had two such safes in my room; none of which could be used, as the keys provided didn't fit.
  3. Nothing wrong with walking around at night with the equivalent of 60k cash in Japan, but he clearly didn't do research on his holiday destination...
  4. Not just in the third world. Spent some time in Australia; while some tour companies and hotels charged a fair rate, a few used the opportunity to overcharge by using a rate more reminiscent of a cash currency exchange rate (for online bookings that is)...
  5. Some Thais even wear masks driving alone in their car.
  6. Spot on. Why does everyone on a motorbike (e.g. three people, three helmets) wear a helmet in Phnom Penh/Cambodia, but not in Bangkok? (It's not that Thais are poorer, but perhaps Cambodian cops take their job more seriously than Thailand's finest...
  7. As if the Israeli army needed mercenaries from Thailand... LOL
  8. If I get an oil massage, I want 'more', and not all places offer such extra services.
  9. Begs the question, unless one has been offered a well-paid job as an expert, 'Why?' - Why not southern Europe, the Caribbean, or Mexico instead?
  10. Despite this webpage being called 'Asean Now', it still seems to be, say, 98% about Thailand... Why are the forums about the other ASEAN countries basically deserted? It would be nice to discuss other countries in the region too, so that the name change from 'Thai Visa' doesn't seem pointless...
  11. As I mentioned earlier, my experience has been the opposite of yours, so perhaps it depends on an IOs discretion...
  12. I've seen plenty of Chinese tourists in Oz, NZ, Malaysia, and Singapore this year. But not as many in Thailand as there used to be.
  13. Yes, who in Thailand wouldn't want to party hearty all through the night till 4 a.m., sipping water after 2 a.m. ...
  14. Amazing Thailand! If I can only order a beer until 2 a.m., but wanna party at the club until 4 a.m., do I have to take very small sips from my beer till 4 a.m., or should I, perhaps, switch to milk? LOL - Perhaps they should use the prohibition ruse, and serve alcohol in tea cups...
  15. The ones in Bangkok, Chonburi, Phuket, and other major tourist places will be very busy...
  16. As someone mentioned, not spending more than 179 days a year in any one country. (There are pros and cons, of course.)
  17. No, they don't. I extended SETV visas many times, but they never asked for a TM.30.
  18. It happened to me about 20 years ago, so my explanation would be that either the procedure in this regard changed, or that the IOs have discretion to decide this (which would be disturbing).
  19. Not my experience. Perhaps Immigration doesn't get your "common sense". How often have you gone through Immigration on the last day of your visa, while your flight was after midnight? - I tell you what, I have once...
  20. I guess, for Immigration, you're not 'leaving' the country until your plane departs...
  21. No, I'm not. Was stamped out before midnight. Still got the dreaded 'overstay' stamp, as, same as the OP's visa, mine expired only a few hours before my flight.
  22. It doesn't work like that. I thought so too; left well before midnight, but still got an 'overstay' stamp in my passport, cause my flight was scheduled for 2 a.m., or so, the next morning...
  23. If your flight departs after your visa (etc.) runs out, you will be on overstay for one day, no matter what time you pass through Immigration. No overstay charge for this "one day" if leaving via an airport. You will probably be ushered away to the overstay office to get an 'overstay' stamp, so better to plan for a bit more time.
