  1. here in Nonthaburi near Tanaamnon they changed all the streets lights and added around 30% more of them, but they also have an additional light for the sidewalks that no one uses or would want to. And to top it off, some idiot puts up an industrial grade 4meter x4 meter television screen in a bright orange sports complex industrial strength frame that plays commercials with sound from 6am -10pm. what a waste of electricity, resources, and now people have to hear commercials being played all day when they haven't even cleaned up from last year's flood yet. bah.gif

  2. Obviously this Chalerm has no shame or even concept of it. He can't deal with a very serious problem

in the country but rather it's more important to get one of his buddies elected governor of Bangkok.

This should speak volumes to the people but since no one listens any way it just goes on.

just pathetic, shameful, despicable and this list goes on. Thailand really needs to start developing minds

before they even start to consider themselves a developing country. bah.gif

  3. This is absurd. The people got paid by someone that couldn't give a rat's a$$ about Thailand or the people, to terrorize the government and the people, and then when they get hurt they want compensation rather than take responsibilities for their actions.

So, some people want amnesty, they came out on their own, so what?

This amnesty crap is nothing more than finger pointing if you do this to us we'll do that to you.

This would never be an issue if there were concrete laws and people would abide by them.

Who wants amnesty? the Thai people? I think the criminals do. bah.gif

  4. why don't they let anybody work anywhere they want for whatever the employer wants to pay?

If 7-11 wants to hire a foreigner, which is doubtful, then why can't they work there for whatever the

    current employees are making?

Just give everybody a "'green card" and let people live here if they want to and level the playing field.

Would certainly more revenue from tax.

I've never seen anywhere before coming here where the totally unskilled can make more than twice

as much as the locals just because they're native speakers.

it's the "us and them" mentality that keeps the quality so low. sick.gif

  5. The executed was driving a car which tells me she possibly was a business owner or into real estate. Most tourists don't drive.

This is really sad and I think everyone should be aware of the potential consequences of doing business in Thailand.

Personally I would never have a business here, this kind of thing just scares me. Really shocking how 'out in the open' and

in your face this can be. RIP wai2.gif

You really need to read the story in full. The lady was a Human Resources professional who's worked for several high end hotels in Phuket, and at the time of death was employed by the Hilton in Karon. She may well have had other business interests as well, but again at the time of death was returning home from work. You obviously don't know any professional Thais here, all of whom drive cars. Motorbikes are for 'worker' Thais and tourists.

misreading something does not mean I don't know any professional Thais. Most of the Thais I know have cars or trucks or both.

I misread it, you don't have to nasty.

  7. I guess the only solution is to increase your income. Understandably not every one is qualified to go out there and get a job nor may have the interest in teaching which is about the only thing a foreigner can do here. The fact is, everybody here knows how to use the Internet and that in my experience is the best and most reliable source of income. Think outside the box, being dependent on a check coming from somewhere else is the same as welfare in my opinion even if you earned it in the past. For us expats to live here, we need to become more self sufficient and create a bumper to where these things don't affect us. Just talking about it won't solve anything, doing something about it will.

Relying a check you earned is the same as welfare ..... thats a new concept for me ! lol

it kind of is. sort of like all your eggs in one basket. you depend on that check and if SS, it comes from the government. "you didn't build that" cheesy.gif

  9. Do government offices include parliament and Chalerm's office?

If they do, who's gonna knick him?

ha ha! I was thinking the very same thing. cheesy.gif

Isn't there already a law about selling alcohol to the under aged? blink.png

I wasn't aware that drinking at Buddhist ordination and funerals was an issue. w00t.gif

just amazing. glad to see they are not going to cut down on violence on TV such as rape, abuse to women and murder. wai2.gif

  10. where was the boy from and did he receive 500 baht to attend the rally?

who funded the rally? who fueled the rally? who spawned the terror and

threatened to burn down the city including Siriraj hospital?

which soldier fired the shot and how can they prove it?

how can someone that has no respect for Thai law or it's courts be using

them for his own personal gain at again the expense of the Kingdom?

disgusting what this government will allow in the name of personal gain and profit. bah.gif

  11. I'm starting to wonder if this is the place to come to knock someone off. It's just a little too common to be coincidence.

On the other hand, are the railings build by "standards" based on short little Asian people. When you get off the boat

at Saphan Thaksin or anywhere for that matter, the rail is well below the hip. I think a small "bump" and over one would go.

What is the standard height for a safety rail around a balcony? whistling.gif

  12. why don't they raise them on farms like they do pigs. put them in stalls so small that they can't even turn around. cut off their tails and neuter them with dirty knives and no anesthetic. the other approved way to do it is like chickens and stuff them in cages and feed them antibiotics so they stay alive long enough to get big enough for slaughter. if they end the dog trade, what's going to happen to all the dogs that are constantly breeding in the streets? In my neighborhood when it gets up to 20 dogs or so in any one area they mysteriously disappear. but then 3-4 months later another 10 or so replace them. Whenever I say that cities like Ho Chi Minh are very clean without dog sh!t, the Thai response is it must be because they ate all the dogs. but we don't have pig sh!t in the streets here, or do we?
