  1. Apart for big difference in financial requirements and ability to obtain a work permit. Pretty significant reasons for many.
  2. Proved nothing of the sort. Immigration officers are very aware that many tourists are not aware of this requirement and tend to let it side. Anyone should be aware of it on second flight. The OP mentioned flown to Thailand for 40 years Still seems ignorant. Enough. Very tired of you forum style.
  3. https://aseannow.com/topic/1280942-suvarnabhumi-immigration-entry-processing-boarding-pass-required-from-your-arrival-flight-18122022/
  4. Strange ....I picked it up on my first ever visit to Thailand when the io asked for it. It's also required at some other countries airports..
  5. The insurance is only required for extensions from a non O-A based on retirement.
  6. Hardly. No if you include opportunity cost. Marriage 400k for couple of months. For retirement with 800k being maintained for 5 months and with the 400k minimum for other months there is very real risk of accident. Thinking most maintain 800k all year round. Hardly same boat as marriage financial requirements. https://aseannow.com/topic/1311246-retirement-visa-versus-marriage-visa-which-is-best/
  7. What do you mean by price. Assume that you plan to do this by yourself without agent. Financials for marriage are ridiculously easy compared to retirement. Paperwork for marriage requires more (much) than retirement. Also extensions marriage require home visit (most) and an under consideration period Up to You
  8. Suggest io was asking for your boarding pass, which has always been asked for. It must be annoying when many travelers are unaware of need to provide it.
  9. Exit Thailand via air asap. Pay fine Cop overstay stamp and ban if one is issued.
  10. You chose day for appointment. Yes the two visa exempt per calendar year is for land borders. With a SETV plus 30 day extension= 90 days. https://aseannow.com/topic/1305565-setv-vientiane-update/
  11. Which immigration office are you going to apply for extension. Some offices such as CW , CM etc are up to 45 days prior to expiry. (in your case 27 Jan) Some offices )most) up to 30 days prior. Not you will require 800k + baht in Thai bank account for 2+months BTW: you are not applying for retirement visa. You are obtaining a 12 month extension to your permission of stay.
  12. Last couple of weeks is the norm. Seems Jomitien currently requesting it be done in last few days. However Jomtien is crackpot joint
  13. CM requires 21days remaining on stamp. Unfamiliar with agents that can obtain non retirement and subsequent extension in CM. Please report back your explain the future. Good luck
  14. Star. Not At airport it's 4000 and you park your bottom for 10 minutes. Immigration does it all for you. Pics included. So you took time to go to agent. Then what pp returned to you or needed return trip?
  15. That would be pretty much useless. The OP needs sensible post (he did not provide one. Thinking he meant this... " I entered Thailand visa exempt and obtained 30 day extension which expires Dec 4. I need to exit Thailand and return visa exempt inorder to obtain a Non O retirement at immigration. Subsequently a 12 month extension" Heaps of threads on this. The OP vague at best.
  16. Have Zero idea of what you are typing about. What visa did you enter Thailand on. Perhaps a ME Non O ? A single entry non O with 12 month extension. If the later why would you need to exit Thailand to obtain an extension
  17. OP, give a clear report and what you applied for and docs you provided. Otherwise pretty useless Ed visa?
  18. If you haven't already ... Post link for OP with your recent experience. (Thread) Is an informative thread.
  19. You can obtain a SETV. You could also consider some visa exempt border bounces. You are allowed 2 per calendar year. How long do you hope to stay in Thailand? Keep in mind that you need appointment for Vientiane.
  20. BTW...the email confirmation some folk have mentioned requires you to print off hard copy.
  21. Not that simple. For change from based on marriage to retirement immigration would want wife to be present. Thinking better option is to obtain a new non O and obtain 12 month extension. He would need to exit country for that
  22. Back to the OP....YES to your question re availability of reentry permit at airport is all systems go. The desk is located left side of security check Zone 2. For 200 baht they fill in the form, photos etc Same deal at DMK....only difference is reentry permit office just immediately past passport control. it's up to personal preference. I'm aware of immigration office option. I NEVER bother even at time of extension. At CW it can be long wait. Airport 20-30 mins absolutely max.
  23. Your plan will work. Someone can advise on pp procedure. Thinking that you exit Thailand on Russian pp (completes entry/exit to Thailand. Then enter the country you fly to on USA pp. Exit that country on USA pp and of course enter Thailand on USA pp. You would be given a 30 day stamp that can be extended by 30 days
