School in BKK messed up my visa paperwork
DrJack54 replied to momijimanju's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's very upsetting. This is not directly addressing that issue. Given this is your first post... How did you enter Thailand.. Visa exempt or tourist visa. You can buy time to sort things out by obtaining 30 day extension. How much did you pay for this ED visa. How long would you like to stay in Thailand? -
Confused about my visa options!
DrJack54 replied to Nedrapter's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The main thing required is certificate of residence or letter from embassy. Personal reference and Yellow Tabien most likely not cut it in many immigration offices.. The issue if located in Bangkok a certificate of residence cannot be issued without TM47. Impossible for those on tourist visa or visa exempt. I suggest use of agent to open Thai bank account.. Another pathway is to enter with a non O. Some banks may accept this. Kasikorn would be good a good option.. -
Krabi Retirement Extension Requirements
DrJack54 replied to TerraplaneGuy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Same for myself. First time ever for extension from non O retirement I provided Lease. No issue. The TM47 was only asked for my extension Oct 2022. Lucky I had it with me. The 8 extensions prior never required TM47 or TM30 at CW. It's a crap shoot with Thailand immigration offices. Would be easy to write comedy skits -
Help urgent Re eVisa Vietnam.
DrJack54 replied to DrJack54's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
I doubt it. No visa exempt for Oz folk. Also he seemed to check details of printed eVisa against my passport photo page. Actually as I always advise others.. "Always check your stamp" Very foolish that I did not. -
Krabi Retirement Extension Requirements
DrJack54 replied to TerraplaneGuy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Well you are changing address so required to do TM30 for change of address. Make screenshot of TM30 to include in your paperwork. I did mine at CW week ago. I'm adopting "kitchen sink" approach. Using money in bank method and this extension I obtained 12 month bank statement. First time ever in 10 years. Guess that you will not have a TM47 for Krabi address. Seems some immigration offices are asking for that now. -

Confused about my visa options!
DrJack54 replied to Nedrapter's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Called "visa agent". To open a Thai bank account on a tourist visa is difficult. Places such as Pattaya have many agents. One often recommended is Maneerat in Soi 13/2. You can ask for advice using LINE. Many others. In Bangkok ThaiVisaCentre is well known agent they also chat LINE. -
Help urgent Re eVisa Vietnam.
DrJack54 replied to DrJack54's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
That's how you would think it would work. However my eVisa to Vietnam (stamped provided in post earlier) Showed I was stamped in 2 Feb and given "until date" 17 Feb. so I was stamped in for 15 days. That eVisa was a single entry 30 day tourist...90 multi not available at that time. My current eVisa printout shows enter 25 Oct until 9 Nov I Fly out on the 25th Oct stay 5 nights. I suspect I will be stamped in for 15 days. Another trip into Saigon on 18 Nov. Seems I will need new eVisa for that visit. Doing my head in -
Help urgent Re eVisa Vietnam.

No offense but I'm well aware that MANY countries have visa exempt entry to Vietnam. Australia and USA do not. Folk from those 2 countries and others require a visa . -
Help urgent Re eVisa Vietnam.
DrJack54 replied to DrJack54's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Prior to eVisa previously I obtained an "approval letter" on arrival you went to area where the Visas were issued. They were one page sticker. So my last visit (Feb) I didn't go to the area I mentioned for sticker. Just walked straight to passport control and showed print out of my eVisa.. Perhaps that is why I was only stamped in for 14/15 days. BTW the picture of my eVisa posted earlier was cropped for privacy. The actual printout has all my details. -
Retirement Visa Annual @Changwattana
DrJack54 replied to Finlaco's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That sums it up. The reason I use the FD and Savings is the FD bank Book comes out of the draw one a year. The savings a/c ....I use for large transfers then use those funds as required. Living expenses, Real estate etc. Back to the io at CW ...She only glanced at the FD bank book. Was meticulous with the savings account.. TBH. ......Not sure if the Bank Statement was required. I had planned to hold it back and only provide if io demanded it. Then report back to this forum. Unfortunately I stuffed up and included it in my bundle of docs. For the small effort it takes, next year I will obtain statement for Savings account. -

Did my annual extension at CW on Oct 4. I use two bank accounts. FD and Savings account. Made a deposit of 1000b into FD and 100b into Savings account. Bank Statement for FD was not required. For those using 2 accounts (same bank) ask stuff to just provided one bank letter listing both accounts 100b -

Be aware that I think the link for CW appointment is down. You can obtain 12 bank statements prior to day of application. I did it day before. No issue. I also provided photocopies of bank book pages. When I obtained Bank Letter on day of application I also made a 100b deposit and asked the lady to please photocopy this last page of bb so matches bank letter -

What's your point. This thread is CW specific and the question is about money in bank method. Not combination method -

But did they still give you the Extension? I had exactly same experience in Oct 2022 After asking for senior io we had a chit chat and finally was accepted. She made me write on my bundle of docs ..."next year I will provide bank statement" Kid you not ..perhaps a face saving thing. -

DrJack54 replied to Finlaco's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I use money in bank method for extensions based on retirement CW. The issue for my application Oct 2022 was that there were few months with zero entries. I just have a dedicated bank account for immigration purposes. They can also request Bank Statement if they think there were consolidated entries. They were going to reject until I asked for senior io. This year (Oct 2023) I decided to provide bank statement. At Kasikorn they can provide 12 month bank statement on the spot for 200b. The next day I attended CW and obtained my bank letter (lower level) along with small deposit. I also went to print/photocopy stall (same level) and photocopies of all the required docs. Also some photos taken (4 pics 100b). The other NEW requirement was TM47 -

Non - O ME in HCMC and Hanoi: Denied!
DrJack54 replied to tomaway's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Sadly you don't know what are talking about. Read up on visa options....one being multi entry non O available at some embassies/consulates, It's a visa option used by many. Many married guys prefer it over non O with extensions. Some gas/oil and roster workers find good option. -
Request advice on visa to stay in Thailand
DrJack54 replied to Cutty Shark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If your ongoing plan is to spend half a year in Thailand (snowbird) you could consider obtaining a Non O based on retirement and subsequent extensions. With a set period spent in Thailand each year you could be in Thailand to apply for ongoing extensions. You can obtain the initial non O in your own country or at immigration office in Thailand from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry. If your country provides a multi entry Non O retirement then that is also an option.
