  1. Yes they will require a certificate of residence to renew your TDL. Embassy letter is an option however often expensive. Not all embassies provides this service eg Oz embassy does not. You also ask if residence certificate is useful. I would use the word necessary for some things such as TDL etc. Be aware that they have limited life span so you only obtain one when it's required. Takes 1-2 weeks to obtain at Bangkok immigration and cost 200baht. Posted out sms.
  2. It's a scam. I had pp photos professionally done according to Oz embassy requirements. Took them along and first thing they said was run off to the place you mentioned and have them redone. The new ones were exactly the same as what I had. My advice. Do the photos at the joint they recommend.
  3. Possibly because visa exempt entry very popular now with the 45 days and many folk seeking 30 day extensions which are done at Laksi
  4. Reasonable deal (from Bangkok 3600baht) For anyone contemplating trip to Saigon ....I just had a 2 week in Saigon and ripper place. No vax checks etc on arrival. From airport very easy bus ($1) to district 1 for chilled break.. Note you will need to show onward flight for return.
  5. Australian embassy no longer providing letter Previously they did. They now provide stamp in new pp to authorize Thai immigration to transfer stamps.
  6. Not required for extension retirement. Yellow book should be fine. CW seem flexible on proof of where you live. In the past I have just used current lease. I renew that every year. Recently they seem more interested in TM47 receipt.
  7. Please stop. As I have posted above using CW as just one example. Pay the 200b for certificate of residence to be posted sms or you don't obtain one. Simple choice. So many nonsense replies in this thread.
  8. No. Previously possible. It is possible to obtain equivalent from some (most) embassies for such things as bank account, TDL, etc.
  9. Read my post again. 30 day extension will not get you till when you turn 50. Also agent would need time to obtain non O retirement if you went for that option.
  10. 2000baht. You will need to go in person. If you are still ill just defer it and go later. The fine will still be 2k
  11. Some options discussed in thread link. You can grab a minivan from Udon airport to Nong Khai or from central plaza. https://aseannow.com/topic/1274413-best-visaborder-run-from-bangkok-in-your-opinion/
  12. How much did you pay last time you went to eg Koh Samed. 200baht and the Thai gf 40baht... You were not a coward? Meaning you took bat and ball home refused to pay.
  13. So next time you go to CW (not your immigration office not the point) to obtain a certificate of residence and they charge you 200baht and mail it out sms in 1-2 weeks you are the righteous one that's going to dig your heels in and not pay? That will mean you are the chum leaving without obtaining a certificate of residence. Quite ridiculous really
  14. When does your current permission of stay expire. If you can obtain another border bounce visa exempt entry prior to march 31 you could use an agent to obtain non O retirement and subsequent extension when you turn 50. Does not prevent you from studying Thai only prevents you from working.
  15. I wouldn't bank on that info. Regards photocopies of pp. Identify page, last extension stamp, most recent entry stamp, original non O retirement visa stamp or if new pp since then the information of that visa that is transferred to first pages of renewal pp. Reentry permit if have one.. I also include copies of all annual extension stamps (sometimes handed back)
  16. Really good report from tallguyJohninbkk. https://aseannow.com/topic/1272406-2022-trip-report-for-retirement-extension-via-thai-bank-deposit-at-bkk-cw/
  17. Here is my report from 2021.. Note will also post my experience 2022. More recently they wanted my TM47 receipt. Also my bank book pages we're almost rejected as I had some months of no transactions and they were saying that they wanted bank statements. There were no consolidated transactions. Just usual games from immigration. Been all fine prior to Nov 2022 extension.
  18. You need to list immigration office for accurate advice.
  19. You pay fine at the airport. 500baht per day. Max fine 20k Overstay recorded on pp. No further consequences depending how long the overstay.
  20. 45 days at CW. Best to make an appointment. Works a treat. Make sure to print out hard copy of your appointment. Attend L32 desk min 15 mins early as you are often seen ahead of appointment time.
  21. OP your border bounce options depend on where you live. If you decide to fly you will require onward flight for return visa exempt.
  22. That location is for extension from visa exempt entry. Extensions from tourist visa and non O etc done at CW.
  23. For my first 7 years in Thailand with non O retirement and subsequent extensions I had never done a 90 day report due to frequent international travel. Finally did my first ever after covid hit. Obviously I never provided a TM47 receipt to immigration prior to that. Also to this day have never done a TM30 or needed to provide one to CW immigration.
