Not the point. For Vietnam you would have required visa on arrival and a "letter of approval" prior to travel. Thailand on the other hand you can enter visa exempt (currently 45days) obtain extension etc etc. Border bounce etc . So many flexible options. Your issues was stamp transfers that you actually did not require.

Yes you need letter from embassy (unless Oz) . You need to transfer stamps and visa info before you apply for extension. Immigration can do it on same visit.

When a passport is cancelled (sometimes with cut corners etc) The visas , reentry permits , permission of stay stamps etc remain valid.

Each entry from visa exempt or tourist visa can be extended Once. Don't be confused ...if you enter 4 times (or whatever) with visa exempt each entry can be extended by 30 days.

Another option for the onward flight problem is to attend airline desk for boarding pass and if questioned or refused b.pass. Just step away from counter and book cheapest throw away thicket. Obviously you would need internet. Throw away cheapest approx 1500b and "rent a ticket" approx $15usd. Sometimes the supervisor allows you to sign a waiver.

AFAIK needs to be transferred where the stamp was issued. You are thinking about 90 day reports and yes if you do a TM30 you can change office. I was surprised once at CW. Had my stamps transfered to new pp. Simple. Then walked to reentry permit desk to have my reentry permit transferred. "Sorry sir we no do. This stamp issued at DMK. You need go there" No problem I just travelled with both passports.

Very few folk would not be aware that stamp can only be transferred at immigration office where it was issued (think airports are an exception). You obtained an extension stamp at NK and were then surprised that KK immigration would not transfer the stamp. Amazing. BTW visas are not transferred.

I obtain my reentry permits at DMK and BKK. I don't use fast track at BKK. As for the rest of your post congratulations. My post was from reading other experiences in many threads on this at BKK using fast tract then crossing back for reentry permit. Yes it works. Yes sometimes (your example) no unfavorable reaction. OP, you are bit all over the shop. To obtain another non O you would need to exit Thailand and reenter. Forget the bank interest nonsense. When married you only need 400k in bank for non O marriage. For 12 month extension based on marriage you are required to have the 400k in bank for 2 months prior to application and maintained for the under consideration period. So 3 months all up and then you can withdraw it. Extensions based on retirement are different and require 800k and ongoing requirements for the year. Since you obtained non O retirement I'm not sure if immigration would allow you to obtain extension based on marriage for your first extension. One option would be to get the marriage all done and dusted and exit reenter visa exempt obtain non O marriage and subsequent 12 month extension. Another alternative after marriage is to go to Savannakhet and obtain a ME non O marriage valid for 12 months. Provides up to ~17 month stay.

Up to you. Many folk aquire their own insurance independent of specified visa requirements. As stated many folk have killed off their non O-A and obtained a non O with extensions. Insurance is a separate matter and many of those make their own arrangements. Research wouldn't hurt. I think that there is a lot of folk in your situation. Bit left field, however I have come down to 3 options. I use money in bank method 800k. Not married same partner 10yr + Fortunately put car, property etc in her name. 1. Thai WILL. 2. Change to income method and every month when funds transfered place into account in partner name. 3. Change to use of agent for extensions retirement. Good option for those with mobility issues etc.

On a visa exempt entry very difficult to open Thai bank account in Bangkok. Contact Siam Legal and cross check with ThaiVisaCentre Should be about 4k. They generally used Bangkok Bank. That's fine as Bangkok Bank is one of only 3 banks that still have a large limit on transfers with WISE. The others have a limit of 50k baht. Useless. Quote from WISE: "You can send up to 2 million THB per transfer. Please note that you can send 50,000 THB or above per transfer only to the following banks from 7 January 2022 due to regulatory changes: Bangkok Bank Public Company Kasikorn Bank Siam Commercial Bank You can still send money to recipient accounts that use other banks, but you’ll only be allowed to send them up to 49,999 THB per transfer.

We will need to keep eye on reports from CW and other places. Would be a complete backflip on the rule changes of June 2020. Sadly that would come as no surprise to many. BTW when you say that you were asked by immigration officer....I assume you are not referring to those document check chicks just at entry to all the desk areas.

So it appears that you have an extension from a non O. Also you have a reentry permit and did not change address. You should not have been asked to provide a TM30 and certainly not at CW.

Which immigration office?

For annual extensions you require a Thai bank account in your name only and have 800k baht in the account for 2 months prior to extention and then maintained for 3 months after extention then not below 400k and back up to 800k for your next extension. Also you would require insurance. If your plan is to live ongoing in Thailand you are best to kill off the non O-A and obtain a non O. The financials for extension is the same but extensions from a non O does not require insurance.

First of all reentry permits can be single entry or multiple entry. 1000 and 3800b respectfully. You would be best served by obtaining the "second year" I mentioned earlier. An extension from a non O-A would also require a reentry permit. In addition it has financial requirements that the non O-A visa does not. Subtle difference but important to understand....your non O-A visa cannot be extended. You can obtain an extension of your permission to stay. To avoid the financial requirements for an extension you would need to obtain a new non O-A in your own country. Extensions are obtained in Thailand.

A non O-A visa has a validity of one year from issue. Every time that you exit and reenter during that period you will receive a 12 month stamp. If you exit and reenter just prior to expiry of the non O-A visa you will be stamped in for 12 months. In that 12 months it's not a visa it's a permission of stay and you would need to buy a reentry permit if you wish to exit and return. You would also need to buy insurance for that "extra year" . After that you either obtain annual extensions or return to home country and obtain a new non O-A
