Non o immigration visa Thai wife
DrJack54 replied to wood78's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You will require 400k in your Thai bank account in your name for subsequent extensions. Cleary wife can cover that ongoing. As for the funds already sent its not big money sort it with wife and plan for ongoing extensions. -

Your OP makes very little sense. As @Stocky pointed out. How do you plan to live in Thailand Money wise. The funds only need to remain in bank for 2 months + under consideration period. Then you can use it. Regarding sending funds to UK which options did you try. Surely you looked at DEE money -
Has anyone heard of a new law ??
DrJack54 replied to dauu's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Post exact details of your "friends" experience with what appears to be very limited stays in Thailand using visa exempt entries. Many do this extensively without issue. Perhaps @Pattaya57 can relate his personal experience. BTW not unique his is a common experience in fact. -
Non-O leave on vacation
DrJack54 replied to OzMan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Doubt it. You are referring to a non O-A that has a validity of one year and is multi entry visa. Almost certain that he does not have that. His entry stamp will show that. With a non O-A he would be stamped in for 12 months. -

I suspect that you have a single entry non o based on retirement. Look at the stamp you were given upon entry. I assume you will see a 90 day permission of stay. That visa is now used. To exit Thailand and protect your stamp you will need to obtain single reentry permit. This can be done at airport. 1000b Which airport will you exit from -
Has anyone heard of a new law ??

Read the thread. The information you posted is incorrect. Along with the reference to "friend" that entered TWICE last year using visa exempt. You stated .... "going on, I know someone who has been refused travel from UK having travelled on exempt 2 times in the last year." That is nonsense. If refused "travel from Uk" it would possibly be issue of boarding pass with no onward flight. -

In this thread attached ubonjoe mentions this "rule" think he refers to 2016 and gives bit of background. Your statement here best sums up the situation. https://aseannow.com/topic/1138484-any-validity-to-the-180-day-year-rule/ -

The limit of 2 per calendar year refers to land and sea. No stated limit via air. -

Not renewing extension of 1 year visa
DrJack54 replied to bluebanana's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You would be starting the whole process over. A non O provides a 90 day stamp and the only extension available is 12 months or 60 day extension to visit wife. Why are you considering not obtaining annual extensions? Even for folk only staying 6 months in Thailand its a good option. The 400k only in bank for 2 months plus under consideration period. Then you can use the funds as you wish. -
Wrong visa stamp on arrival
DrJack54 replied to miaclarkson03's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good question. Hopefully Samui immigration will correct stamp. Problem solved. Not convinced that is a guarantee. Flights from Samui expensive back to Bangkok. They mention 3 weeks on Samui then to "other islands" They can still achieve 150 day stay. Just involves inconvenience and $$
