Use xe.com or xendpay. You send whatever currency you want and they will wire it to your bank in Baht.

If you use Transferwise they will send it as a local bank transfer, so that can't be used for the income method extension. All 3 should be a lot cheaper than WU.

Bed...good post. Only adding to it. Transferwise is one of few company that actually do not send money to other country. They work on dealing with fund holders in many countries. Simply put the USD is not "transfered" .

    Think OFX is different.

Any member interested could Google "clash of the titans". Good read re transferwise vs OFX

    Both pretty good.

  2. Assume you just want border bounce. I recently asked ubonjoe about bounce to Trat. Its about 4 hours from pattaya good drive. Straight safe from pattaya.

Many other options. If you have need to go bkk could go onto Kanchanaburi. Your over minibus but from pattaya not easy option.

Depends if you want back asap. Personally I love Saigon. Cheap prices from bkk but that's from DM. No simple option.

    Is it Hungary?  ????????????

Seriously, as others have said, it would be absolutely best for your non-friend to beg or borrow (I won't say steal) the 2,500 baht. If that ls totally impossible, there are a few other options, but none of them are certain.

    1)  The embassy of his home country may be willing to lend him the money. Your non-friend apparently lacks the resources to travel to Bangkok, but he could at least give the embassy a call.  Even if the embassy can't lend him money directly, the consular officers may know of a Pattaya resident who is willing to help a fellow countryman in dire straights.

    2) The airline may be willing to lend him the overstay fee.  The reason isn't kindness or customer service, but because the airline would face so much potential hassle and expense if a passenger is denied exit by Thai immigration officials.  It's easier for the airline to make sure "troublesome" passengers leave the country on the booked flight rather than deal with a deportation.

    3) It is not outside the realm of possibility that Thai immigration lets him through even if he doesn't have the cash to pay the overstay.  He would be sent to the overstay counter and they would require him to sign a binding agreement to remit the overstay fee plus an extra penalty, but it would be less hassle and ultimately, expense, than denying him boarding.  Get rid of him and flag his passport so he's denied entry to Thailand again if he doesn't pay the penalty.

However, there is NO guarantee any of these possibilities will work.  The only sure way for him to leave as scheduled is to have the overstay fee in his pocket when he checks in.

    Evil

    Evil ..you serious about this?.

Thai imm will not "let him through"... No.

Airline assist? Is that a joke.

Embassy assistance? Did he state nationality? Maybe I missed that. Anyway won't work untill in detention.

    Any other ideas? Feel free.

I presume you're not discussing with your gf the implications of him showing up at immigration without the overstay money. He may have wised up to this already, depending on who he's spoken to.

When's he due to fly? Sounds like he's already in overstay so the flight he's booked must be pretty imminent.

?? He is already on overstay. Needs pay fine. Did you read op? It helps.

I was going to fly into Bkk with a return ticket to Australia already booked if you think that might make things better

Here is the thing. If you fly into bkk from Tel Aviv and are refused entry your ticket to AU or money in pocket or accom booking might not mean much. The ticket out of los to Australia is helpful thats if your given a chance to explain your plans. Some reports of folk being denied entry and io basically not wanting to view anything eg cash etc and not listening to anything you have to say. Clearly you have a desire to stay in los and that's your business but staying for an extended time with small breaks becomes difficult. The people who do it successfully tend to exhaust the flight into los option early on then eventually moving to two VE at borders then TV at various good borders.

In my thinking the wedding trip is the problem.

Sounds like your ticket to au is already booked and departing from bkk. Think I've run out of advice.

As I stated I did look at flights out of tel Aviv. I couldn't find much except for bkk.

I don't know if this would work but perhaps obtain a setv prior to wedding from somewhere like Vientiane enter los and when flying to tel Aviv obtain reentry permit at bkk airport. Don't know if on your return to bkk at the airport it would be looked at differently.

One of the experts could advise better. You could yell out to ubonjoe or quote BritTim (gives good advice) he posted in this thread above.

I haven’t actually booked my ticket to Israel yet so I can fly into somewhere else if needs be. I have emailed the Thai embassy in Tel Aviv in regards to applying for a setv so hopefully they’ll reply soon

I'm thinking your not in simple situation. I'm not at all familiar with flights in/out of Israel. I had quick look and return direct bkk/TA yeah about 26kbaht.

Problem is that's flying into bkk. I don't see nice options for other places like to KL for example.

If you fly into bkk with a visa 2 things could happen..

Stamped in no problem or denied entry and that means world of pain if your forced to return to Tel Aviv.

Would make for very nervous flight into Thailand. Some members might say you have no problems. Some (me) would not do it.

    Skip wedding?

    Good luck whatever your call

I have to go to Israel for a wedding, they don’t give an arrival stamp there either, I’m not sure if that will affect things

The question about where your going is more about where to fly back to in order to enter Thailand. Possibly Tel Aviv to KL and from there train and enter by border or fly KL to Vientiane (cheap flights aa).

I'm getting the impression you already have return tick flying back into bkk airports. Bad plan IMHO. Is setv straight forward to obtain in Israel? Have never read about it. You could obtain one KL or Vientiane but keep in mind appointment required at vientiane

Thankyou all for the advice. I will definitely apply for a visa whilst overseas for 10 days, as well as have a return flight booked and access to sufficient funds. I will take the idea to fly to Laos and cross from there and see if it is doable. For those interested, I’m in Thailand for Muay Thai and was hoping to stay for the whole year

You could do muay Thai course and obtain ed visa. When you mention going overseas for 10 days. Where to. Ask because it helps to advise where to land for return. Both myself and BritTim suggested Vientiane. However really depends on where your travelling to for that 10 day break and to lesser extent where living in los.

Apologies for the lack of detail.

Yes, I have entered under visa exemption through my Australian passport. I originally came to Thailand for 1 month from February to March. I then left and returned on April. I extended in May for 30 days at Immigration and then in June I went on a border run to Cambodia. I have just extended for 30 days again at immigration. I will be going to Cambodia again at the end of this month before extending again at the end of August. September 4th I will be flying overseas for 10 days before returning. I was going to return simply on Visa exemption though it would be possible to apply for a visa whilst I was overseas

So your next border run will be your 2nd for this calendar yr (max allowed 2)

The last bit is a worry. "I will be flying overseas for 10 days..." How do you plan to enter. I think time for a tourist visa and personally think you may have trouble at airports entering. I would suggest even with visa return via border after flying to neighbouring country. Laos- Vientiane, one example.

Because I'm not sure where he is going.

Is he going to Chaengwatthana or Samut Prakan?

    CW is a better option.

As far as I know, they stopped enforcing TM30's for tourist visa extensions at CW, which means he can write down any address.

Unless they started enforcing them  again, it can change as the wind blows. Of which, again I am not sure.

Yes it will cut it if he moves into a hotel for 1 night, asks the hotel to report him, and obtains proof from them.

Hey man sorry. I have been typing all day off and on re tm30 for annual extensions. You are correct. Op is extending his tourist visa. Feel like a dill. Not uncommon.

    Cheers.

yea sure - Lease agreement, copy of landlord's Thai ID and a copy of landlord's House Book (Tabian ban) are all needed for a TM30 report (at my local Immigration Office).  Missing one or the other will result in a "mai dai"  ... makes sense to me.

Not to me since OP is dealing with CW. Your local imm has zip to do with op

    Solutions:

    1. Hotel 1 night that does report, and proof of that from them. 400-800 baht per night something.

    2. Thai friend that is willing to help report you at his address.

    3. Agent.

    4. Self filing as possessor if that works.

Why include #4 ...."if that works"

Mean works some imm office or you not sure?

The OP is shortly applying for extension. Re #1 Think he needs proof of where he lives. Meaning lease or similar. Hotel booking won't cut it.

  13. 10 minutes ago, Leaver said:

It seems that we are now at the stage where foreigners renting property should demand a copy of the owner's Thai ID before signing a lease, and this should be told to an agent as well.

No documents for a TM30 = no tenant = no money for owner.

That's possible. However it assumes imm has connection to revenue gov office. My guess its an imm driven thing at CW at least.

Side issue is very nice kickback. Many reports of 800baht fine.

  14. OP you need give more detail. You state twice via air and soon twice via border. Visa exempt? Did you get extensions for any entries. Its an OP lacking real detail.  Did you use any tourist visas. How long spent out of Thailand between entries.

Its the detail that will govern good advice
