To be fair, this is the sort of innovative spirit that allowed a small windswept island to rule the world.
The reason why the crime rate is so low in Singapore is because the gov. is so strict and dont fxxxk around dishing out big penalies if you break the law.Its a pity other countries such as Australia wouldnt follow suit.

Who were those scammed? Thais, foreigners or a mixture of both? In this day and age it amazes me that so many people are so gullible. If it appears too good to be true, then it invariably is. Keep clear!
An old saying..A fool and his money soon do part .

bandaid solution; upgrade driving skills here by requiring road tests, to be passed
I would have thought that making all drivers complete a proper practical driving test or defensive driving course was the best way to go.

Don’t let it worry you.
Thais have to pay way more for treatment in Australian hospitals than Aussies with a Medicare card.
What goes around comes around.
And instead of cute nurses in high heeled sneakers wiping you up in Australia you usually get an old horror beefy nurse named Shiela or sometimes even a male nurse named Bruce giving you a bath who seems to enjoy it a bit too much.
I have found the food much better in Thai hospitals also. Three tasty cooked meals per day. In Australia you get given a stale sหเt sandwich.
Get well soon.
Mr natai beach Let me inform you how the Medicare system works in Australia. Thais are not are not treated any different than any other foreign visitor when they need medical treatment. If they from a country such as Thailand that does not have a recipricle arrangement with AU Medicare are charged a fee for treatment. This is fair enough as why shouid the AU taxpayers have to foot the bill.In the case of a fiance/friend the sponser promises to cover these costs as part of the visa conditions.

You can say what you want but it does not mean there is not a potential problem.
My house has a concrete floor and before it was poured the builder laid a pattern of blue pipe all around the floor area. I was a bit puzzled as the pipe had only one end which came out outside the building, so I got my wife to ask what it was for, and he said termite protection. Apparently the pipe was filled with a chemical and if the termites got into the floor they would eat into the pipe and the chemical would kill them off.
It is all about reality than theory.
Those pipes are part of a reticulation system. It can be effective against termites BUT the pipes have holes in them and the chemical runs out through the holes and soaks into the soil /sand under the concrete slab as a defence against termites so as the poison only has a certain life so it must be replenished regularly. In Australia thats about every 5 years or so.If you dont do this you will be at risk of termite attack.

You would be surprised. Many companies advertise credit card only but they will in fact take a debit card.....you just need to ask. I have hired cars on debit card several times but admit I have never tried in Thailand as the need never came up.
Yeah I am in Australia and we use debit cards all the time instead of credit cards here. When you book into a hotel they put a hold on a certain deposit but dont process it straightaway and if you settle your account on checkout they cancel it.

A cc builds a credit rating
it is also very important for traveling, booking hotel rooms etc etc etc
so you carry a pack of cash when travelling?
how do u book a hotel or plane tickets?
????????????????????♂️????????♂️????
You can do anything with a DEBIT card that you can with a credit card but you are using your own money instead.

This is a rather backwards manoeuvre, I remember paying 500 baht at the airport just to be let out of the country. As long as the fee is less than a bar fine, most people won't be too unhappy. If it goes off maybe they should employ bar girls to collect it and escort tourists to an office for some V.I.P treatment for a few mins also.
I can remember about 20 years ago I was bringing my new girlfriend from Phuket to Australia for 3 moths holiday At the airport I went through immigration but she was stopped despite all paperwork being in order and a heated discussion was taking place .It was now near departure time and the lady from Thai came looking for us. It turned out that the I.O. wanted 500THB to let her through so I had no choice ..had to pay up or miss the flight and the connection to AU.

It serves them right. These idiots have got sxxt for brains. The Farangs should be deported and the Thais put in the big house for a while. That will teach them a lesson.

thats a good point but if it was I doubt the cops would dob them in.
This story reminds me of a good old mate of mine from AU. he was booked to visit his darling in BKK.in a months time and unexpectantly received an insurance payout of about $4,500 .His lady had the second ATM.card to his savings account that was used by her to withdraw her monthly allowance but no other money was usually in it .Well he had a brain fade and decided that as he was going over there soon him stead of bringing that money over with him he would deposit it into the account and use that money during his holiday. When he told me what he was doing I told him he was crazy he said dont worry I trust her 100% (shes not like the others. I had arranged to meet him a week later at the Golden Bar at the Nana Hotel as it was his birthday.W,ell he didnt look happy for a birthday boy..his lady disapeared to ( get food) and then he told me the sad tale that her she had sent her " brother " to the ATM with the card and the PIN to withdraw her allowance. but guess what .??.he didnt come back and bit by bit withdraw all the money.I had to lend him some cash to help him out He put it down to bad luck not her fault..and later on married her. Theres one born everyday.!!

In Australia the quarantine hotels are open to the public..but I think they put the covid guests on seperate floors. I doubt that I would book into such a hotel.
