  1. Visa liberalisation measures unveiled with a DTV visa for living and working online in Thailand legally https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2024/05/30/visa-liberalisation-measures-unveiled-with-dtv-visa-for-living-and-working-in-thailand-legally/ Thailand’s cabinet announced new visa measures, including the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), allowing digital nomads to live and work in Thailand for up to 180 days, extendable to 360 days. Details to be released on June 1st, 2024. Tuesday’s cabinet meeting at Government House produced a number of liberal new visa initiatives aimed at attracting more foreigners to visit and live in Thailand. In particular, among the measures announced was an extended Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) aimed at digital nomads. The new visas would allow an initial stay of 180 days with a ฿10k fee. This could be extended for a further 180 days. At this time, further details on the visa are awaited on June 1st. However, the idea of allowing foreigners to live and work in Thailand online is a big departure. Furthermore, the challenge for the government will be to get it right because there certainly is a market for this across the world, particularly in Western countries.
  2. So much discussion and there's a simple legal way around this. If you're concerned, I'm certainly not.
  3. What if you transfer (Wise) all of your income to your wife or girlfriend’s Thai bank account and withdraw from that account as and when required, would that work? We all trust our wives and GF’s 555
  4. Correct, but I'm talking about Cape Town where there is very little crime.
  5. Cape Town is a great place to retire. Sightseeing is a must. Last month I travelled up to Table mountain and wow, what a view. Plenty of beaches, shops (Woolworths). Accommodation. I stayed with my brother in his villa in Somerset West. A truly great place in SA for normal and gay people.
  6. In further non reported news, a further 1,500 intoxicated Thai motorbike riders were stopped at the same location.
  7. What does he look like? I know, but not telling Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, received an honorary degree from the Praboromarajchanok Institute for the academic year 2023. The former Health Minister during the COVID-19 pandemic was recognized for his contributions to the fields of medicine and public health. Anutin is the first politician to receive an honorary Doctorate of Public Health from the Praboromarajchanok Institute. https://x.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1793587367800144245

  12. Interesting last para. Thai Enquirer The Department of Corrections Hospital has yet to release the CCTV footage from the morning when deceased political activist Netiporn "Bung" Sanesangkhom passed away, said lawyer Kritsadang Nutcharat. Her medical record, which dates back five days before she passed away on May 14, has been handed over today. Kritsadang said a team of lawyers will review the medical record before providing any further findings to the public. Regarding the CCTV footage, the hospital stated they still needed time to blur out the faces of individuals unrelated to the case. Kritsadang said he will seek more updates on when the footage can be delivered this Friday. Kritsadang said her family and friends are still questioning the CPR procedures administered to her at the Department of Corrections Hospital. This is because medical records from Thammasat University Hospital indicated that the endotracheal tube was placed in her esophagus instead of her trachea, preventing oxygen from reaching her lungs. https://x.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1792502519132025002
  13. I don't think this would work for some members who have a Thai GF and are separated from their Thai wife living here in Thailand, otherwise as ML stated that the most sensible way to go.
  14. The court said it did not recognise Mr Thammanat's conviction because the verdict was delivered in Australia, a foreign country. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-57001674
  15. DWP will accept a letter or telephone call for change of details, i.e change of address or bank details, etc. Ordinary queries they should respond by email. If and when the relevant dept receives your correct and completed LC you will get your pension payment backdated from when it was stopped. As you stated, you LC is in Birmingham then on to Wolverhampton. When it arrives in WH it will be distributed to the relevant dept.
  16. 'Amendments' comes to mind: A lawyer from the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights stated that the Department of Corrections Hospital has not yet provided Netiporn "Bung" Sanesangkhom's medical records to them. She said requesting medical records is a standard procedure and questioned why it is taking the hospital so long to release them. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1791006221031584085
  17. Well of course they would state that. How many young/middle aged persons die in Thai prisons or the adjoining hospitals? I guess we'll never know.
  18. Thai Enquirer @ThaiEnquirer The Department of Corrections said activist Netiporn "Bung Thaluwang" Sanesangkhom was eating some food after she was sent back from Thammasat University Hospital, and it was Thammasat University Hospital's decision to send her back to the Department of Corrections Hospital in April. Sompop Sangkhutkaew, Chief Inspector General of the Department of Corrections, said the political activist had been incarcerated since January 26 and had been on a hunger strike since her admission. During the hunger strike, she had been in and out of the Department of Corrections Hospital and was detained there between February 29 and March 8 due to fatigue. On March 8, she was transferred to Thammasat University Hospital, where she was treated until April 4. The department stated that it was Thammasat University Hospital's decision to send Netiporn back to the Department of Corrections Hospital. Upon her return, she was reportedly eating some food and was being detained at the hospital in the same room as Tantawan "Tawan" Tuatulanon, another detained youth activist on hunger strike. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1790604802164175324
  19. Thailand: Tragic death of detained activist must be ‘wake-up call’ Responding to the death of Netiporn ‘Bung’ Sanesangkhom, a Thai pro-democracy activist who passed away today after a prolonged hunger strike in detention, Amnesty International Thailand Director Piyanut Kotsan said: “Amnesty International expresses its deepest condolences following the death of Netiporn ‘Bung’ Sanesangkhom, who had gone on hunger strike in protest at her and others’ arbitrary detention, including for peacefully exercising their human rights. “This is a shocking reminder that Thai authorities are harshly denying pro-democracy activists their freedom in an apparent bid to silence the peaceful expression of dissent. Many are currently detained, with their right to temporary release on bail denied. 20. You should be ashamed of yourself. American are you? On ignore for you. RIP Khun Bung
  21. Thai Enquirer @ThaiEnquirer The Department of Corrections stated that Netiporn, also known as Bung Thaluwang, was not on a hunger strike after her transfer from Thammasat University Hospital in April. The department said she was consuming food and fluids normally upon her return from Thammasat University Hospital. However, they did not specify the date of her return. Their statement presents conflicting information. Despite asserting her normal consumption, they also noted her ongoing fatigue and slight anemia with low mineral salts. Following her refusal of mineral salts and blood supplements, she experienced cardiac arrest, they said. According to the report by Thai Lawyers for Human Rights on April 9, Netiporn was moved from Thammasat University Hospital to the Department of Corrections Hospital in early April. Subsequently, on April 25, they reported her continued hunger strike, accompanied by complaints of chest tightness akin to being pressed by a heavy object. Today, they said Netiporn has been on a hunger strike for 110 days. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1790298963738017892
