Thai Enquirer Prapat Pothasuthon, Chart Thai Pattana's secretary-general, said he met with former PM Thaksin Shinawatra in Hong Kong last week, but it was only to congratulate him on his 74th birthday, not for any political deal. He said Thaksin and he are old friends, and he has taken such a trip to congratulate Thaksin on previous birthdays before. He also mentioned that he did not see any other prominent member of any party when he met with Thaksin. On his return to #Thailand, Thaksin said he will arrive via a private jet at Don Mueang Airport on August 10, and he is expected to be transferred to the Supreme Court to acknowledge his charges, showing his willingness to be imprisoned, according to Prapat. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1686337931613806592 -

MFP list-MP Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn said if the 8-party coalition remains united, it will be impossible for the previous ruling coalition to form a functioning government. MFP deputy secretary-general Nattacha Boonchaiinsawat rejects the idea of leaving to allow portions of the junta-backed parties to join without Prayut and Prawit, pledging not to support Pheu Thai's PM candidate in such a scenario. MFP core member Amarat Chokepamitkul said the party does not intend to leave the coalition and still vote for the Pheu Thai Party's PM Candidate with the excuse of the two generals' absence. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1686286160136712192

Thai Enquirer Pheu Thai list-MP and caretaking party spokesperson, Rinthipond Varinvatchararoj, said the current view of Pheu Thai PM Candidate, Srettha Thavisin, is that the amendment of the lese-majeste law is currently an obstacle to the formation of the government. Rinthipond pointed out Srettha's interview with the media on July 20, during which he emphasized that the amendment of the law must be dropped before the next PM voting. Otherwise, the next PM candidate will not gain the support of the senators and many external parties. Rinthipond comment came after some senators expressed their reluctance to vote for Srettha because he said before the election that the law should be amended to prevent it from being used as a political tool. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1686297685450698752
