Off topic but worth a mention: 1/2) United Thai Nation leader Pirapan Salirathavibhaga said Thurs night its PM candidate Gen Prayut will not quit politics but will remain active with the party to "protect the nation, religion & monarchy". (2/2) The party won only 36 MP seats far less than opposition Move Forward's 152 seats but Pirapan cited 4.6 million party-list votes as proof of support. https://twitter.com/KhaosodEnglish/status/1659373129763004416

One of the senators has spoken: (1/3) In a clear sign some junta-appointed senators may not vote for Move Forward PM candidate Pita Limjaroenrat, influential senator Wanchai Sornsiri said Mon he & others will have to take other factors into consideration such as party's policies. #Thailand #เลือกตั้ง #ก้าวไกล (2/3) Wanchai pointed out that Move Forward itself didn't win a simple majority of the lower House which is 251 out of 500 but won much fewer seats at so it cannot claim otherwise (3/3) "I'm not sure that the # 1 party will always able to form a gov't," he said, adding that Pheu Thai won most seats back in 2019 but unable to form a gov't & ends up in the opposition https://twitter.com/KhaosodEnglish/status/1658062912332902400 -

Ultra-royalist group Thai Move Institute's worst case scenario. 250 junta-appointed senators not voting for Move Forward PM candidate Pita (due to his party's policy to amend the lese majeste law), thus enabling caretaker PM Gen Prayut to stay on indefinitely https://twitter.com/PravitR/status/1657921914801885184 -

THAI NEWS REPORTS: #RoadSafety summary for 7-13 May 2023: 306 killed (43/day) and 14,480 injured in road accidents 17 children and 15 foreigners killed 82% of fatalities were motorcyclists 5,746 people have been killed and 296,501 injured this year https://twitter.com/RichardBarrow/status/1657581541676171266 Here are the road accident statistics from the last seven days in #Thailand. It is shocking to see that 17 children died in road accidents. Why is this so high? What are the Thai government and police doing to bring this number down? Also note that 15 foreigners died in road accidents. I read yesterday that ten Russians died in Phuket this year so far. What can be done? Make it harder to rent motorcycles and cars? Enforce road laws such as wearing helmets on motorcycles? Making public transportation more affordable so people don’t have to rent vehicles?

TPBS Confirms ITV Plc, Subsidiary Have Shut Down

Truly ludicrous if this results in the disqualification of a political party leader. How do shares in a company that closed down in 2007, and was delisted from the stock exchange in 2014, still matter in 2023? https://twitter.com/Reaproy/status/1656233606371590146 -
