  1. A selective quote, you implied they were owned by the CCP. They are not.
  2. I don't they will enforce it. Nothing has changed, it is business as usual. Ignore the tax experts who want you to spend money with them.
  3. My EV battery is guaranteed for 8 years and I think that may be about to increase if BYD follow MG's lead. It depends where you buy it from. I installed 28.8KwHrs of battery and 22kw of panels etc and my ROI is about 5 years. If you just go grid-tied no export (which is what I would recommend for anyone with TOU meter) then your ROI could well be under 3 years. A TOU meter shortens your ROI time with grid-tied systems.
  4. My fingers are crossed for you.
  5. One of the many previous schemes (possibly this one too) involves mules. The mules are Thai students studying in prestigious universities in the UK. They are persuaded to buy a hi-end car on finance, insure it including Gap insurance, and then conveniently the exporter steals the car. It is then exported to Thailand, where an accomplice in Thailand turns a blind eye to the ownership requirements of the Thai student (owning it for 12 months) and it's re-registered here with import duty paid. Sometimes, they are temporarily converted to LPG and registered that way (which is supposedly easier though I don't know why) and the LPG conversion removed in another province. There was a case a few years ago of an unclaimed transporter with Lambo's and other cars that nobody would claim ownership of, I think one of them caught fire if IIRC.
  6. Unfortunately, that's not the end of your liability if it was stolen. Each buyer in the chain has to sue the previous buyer for a refund. I bought an electric Porsche new from the authorised agent in BKK. I looked at grey imports and it didn't take much negotiation to get 2 million knocked off the already reasonable price. I was certain it was stolen in the UK.
  7. I have said it before on this forum. Never buy a hi-end car from a grey importer, always buy from an authorised dealer. That especially goes for Porsche's. I wouldn't be surprised if as many as 50% of all grey imports have been stolen from the UK. The sensible thing is to allow the UK to send a list of VIN Numbers electronically and to run the file for hits against Thailand's database.
  8. If & when they change my spinning meter for digital, I can switch over the air con in my bedroom to run from the car overnight and charge it back up from grid-tied solar set to no export.
  9. I had an electrician fit some automatic transfer switches so I can run my refrigerator, lights, TV & Air Conditioning in my bedroom and the Water Pump from my car. I will sell my 28.8KwHr of LFP batteries as using the car is a much more elegant & cheaper solution.
  10. I have the 20 year Elite SE, the peace of mind is priceless.
  11. There is a Thai legal concept known as "Controller of Property". It's possible to setup something that performs like a trust using this. I suggest you ask a lawyer if he is familiar with this concept, if he isn't, find another.
  12. Thailand have taken an integrated approach with their citizens. All the data is held centrally and those with the right clearance can see everything about their citizens, bank accounts & transactions, mobile phone calls & complete GPS data, cars, motorbikes, hotel stays, airline records. They know absolutely everything. They can even do this to some extent with foreigners. Prior to issuing my Elite Visa, the agent asked me why a bank account of mine withdrew 2M baht via ATM transactions in Australia over a fairly short period of time. I never gave them my bank account details and it's not one I use day to day. My advice to the OP would be to try and regularise his status as soon as he can and hope they don't ever go looking back at his residency status.
  13. I have 4 mini PC's (used for 4K capability/movies) and 2 laptops. They do what I want. They are not Win 11 compatible. I won't even try upgrading to Win11 until they irreparably break and need replacing.
  14. Everything is computerised now, if you have an upcoming trip to the UK, on your return to Thailand I would notify DWP you have moved to Thailand and give them the recent date. A true statement. If you haven't been to the UK in a long time then, if you had moved here recently from the Philippines you would have your pension frozen from that recent date when you left the Philippines and they wouldn't have the flight details...
  15. Yes, they take water and gel ice packs if you have them to hand.
  16. I'm from Guiseley.
  17. Yorkshiremen are like Scotsmen who have had the generosity squeezed out of them.
  18. It's worse than that. Photons strike the solar panels and release electrons to make electricity. They also release alpha radiation which makes anyone within a 2km radius sterile.
  19. My first thought is this, are there 5 or more units being rented where you are with the same landlord? If so he is breaking the law, he cannot charge more that the rate he pays to PEA/MEA. Even if you're paying 10 baht per unit, EV's are still cheaper than an ICE car.
  20. EV's are currently about 4-5 times cheaper to fuel than an ICE, so I don't think it will make much of a difference.
  21. The best tip I can give you is don't try to ride it too slowly, you need speed to balance.
  22. Surely you are not suggesting a politician would lie? I'm truly shocked!
  23. Have you upset someone? Maybe a hammer will shock it open, but be very careful not to damage your disk. Maybe involve the police so it doesn't happen again.
  24. If you don't file a tax return and are changing something fairly small, under a million baht, you could just run the risk, they will probably ignore you. On the other hand, if you're changing 10 million baht, they would almost certainly seek you out.
