  1. That's as maybe, but you said I made a false statement, which of the two was it? Was it The Automarket appears to be in recession. Or The share of BEV's increased this month over last month.
  2. Which statement in my summary was false?
  3. So to summarise. The Automarket appears to be in recession. The share of BEV's increased this month over last month.
  4. To judge it, we need to see how it compares to ICE. Without that comparative, we could simply be looking at customer confidence dented in making big decisions etc etc
  5. My late friend had a Honda Africa Twin that caught fire. Mind you, he did ride it at 60kmHr into a parked 6 wheel truck.
  6. I think it's only detected for about 48 hours after a heavy session. I don't know how they fixed the legal limit, I'm not aware of any kind of testing done to see if the legal limit of intoxication affects your ability to make timely and sensible decisions.
  7. So there is no such thing as recreational use. Good to know. ROFLPMP
  8. When you're investigating a company, it's not that simple. You have to check if the company's registered number matches with the company in the UK, likewise the underwriter and all the way through, follow the money. If it is a "long company" they will try to obfuscate as much as they can.
  9. Has anyone actually visited their office? What is the legal entity there? The website appears to be a few pages of A4, no click through to any detail. If they are a broker, who is the underwriter? (Rhetorical question as it’s WR Life). Who do you pay your premium to?
  10. I agree In the UK they have something they wipe on your tongue, in 8 minutes it gives an indication for Cannabis and another for Cocaine. If positive they are arrested and taken to the police station for a blood sample to determine whether it exceeds the legal limit. The policeman at the roadside has a good feel for the amount depending on how quickly a positive result comes up. Cannabis use within 36-48 hours will give a positive test result.
  11. You shouldn’t be driving if you’re using Cannabis regularly.
  12. It appears that demand for EV's from private buyers in the UK may in fact be greater than thought. Because of the tax incentives on businesses, private buyers are increasingly turning to salary sacrifice to acquire their EV through their employer. The car industry is wrong about private electric vehicle demand (msn.com)
  13. Yes, you are right, that article in an Irish newspaper was talking about the British market, they should have made that clear. It shows what a difference price makes, in this case price with subsidy.
  14. In Ireland EV sales are outperforming the market. Sales of new electric cars outperform market (msn.com)
  15. There are temperature sensors in the socket. Heat is a real issue. With some of the ultra fast charging around the corner, some are looking at liquid cooling. I wonder how long it will be before someone realises there’s a lot of copper in those fast DC chargers and starts cutting them off.
  16. A bad workman blames his tools.
  17. Is this the new firmware? This week is just horrible. There is a BYD bit coming, bear with me. We run a large LAN on this housing estate involving 5 houses with corresponding long-range WiFi bridges linking up all the houses to share internet and other things attached, it’s managed by a managed switch. One of our tenants unplugged a wireless access point and plugged their internet feed into a router with WAN port on Saturday that told our managed switch it had an internet connection. Consequently, the switch tried to load balance and it randomly sent all WiFi traffic to it. My customer has their own internet too, this connection is just used to control the swimming pool, lake perimeter lights, outside lights and a few other IoT switches. I couldn’t figure it out. CAT Telecom sent out 6 guys for 2 days, they replaced the router but gave it the wrong LAN address, unfortunately that reversed the problem, mobiles were working but wired connections were not. I spotted that hence the visit the second day. The new router only fixed it for a while. By a process of deduction, I eventually figured either the managed switch was faulty (it refused connections on the management port) or the access point in their electric room had decided it was a router. I bought a new access point and ordered a big managed switch (we had run out of ports). As soon as I looked in their electric room (they call it Bruce’s room) I spotted it straight away. An old router the previous tenant had left there now replaced my old access point. By about 4pm we had a stable network again. An hour later the lights flickered a few times and the power went out. I worked out the underground power cable to my house had broken in the same place it broke 3 years ago. When I built this house, the sparky put a join in the cable he laid, he didn’t tell me, he didn’t tell me, he though he was going me a favor by saving a few baht. It failed within a month, and I am almost certain it’s failed in the same spot. So last night, BYD Seal to the rescue with V2L. We ran fans and phone chargers, fortunately it was a cold night.
  18. In some places hotel licenses are rationed. My friend opened a new hotel in Chiang Rai about 8 years ago and was told no hotel licence possible as too many hotels already. I took that to mean the uber wealthy owners of the big hotels here had probably applied influence or the enforcement team wanted it that way for tea-money. I have another friend running a few airbnb’s on the same housing estate, they list them separately even though they are all identical, perhaps it’s related to hotel licenses, I don’t know.
  19. Yes I will, I have one in mind for 3 years hence.
  20. Hydrogen will always be 5 times more expensive per kilometer. We've tried Hydrogen, customers hate it. Even if you can reduce the price of making Hydrogen by 80%, you still have these hurdles Limited Infrastructure Energy Efficiency Cost and Fuel Cell Technology Safety Concerns Lack of Automaker Commitment Government Policies and Regulations Competition from BEV’s (Battery Electric Vehicles)
  21. I didn't give you a confused emoji Did I say that? For a start it doesn't show the trend of what buyers are choosing and secondly, it's off topic.
  22. I have had 5 EV's, I would describe myself as fairly expert. Compared to the salespeople who sell them, I'm 42! (c) Douglas Adams.
  23. It's fairly clear that I know a lot more about EV's than you do.
