You might recall the noise over real user / bot counts in the run up to Musk using Saudi money to buy Twitter. Well here’s a thing. ‘Truth Social’ does not publish any verifiable data on user numbers whatsoever. So investors are left to believe a value that has no basis in reality. Once again MAGA are his marks.

Absolute poverty: UK sees biggest rise for 30 years

More categorical statements. Let me help you out. Some old people live luxurious lives. Some old people go to the Caribbean for winter. Many do not: https://www.ft.com/content/b475a0e8-6829-461f-af70-170268d23580 -

You stated “Old people do not ride around on public transport just to keep warm ”. It would only take one ‘example’ of an old person riding around on public transport to prove your categorical statement false. I provided a news article that gave such an example. Perhaps, and it’s just a suggestion, rather than trying to wriggle out of the trap you set for yourself you could learn a bit more about poverty in the UK or at the very least refrain posting obviously incorrect assumptions on your part. -

You are beginning to sound like one of the less likable characters from a Charles Dickens novel. There are a number of discounted travel options for young people. -

Well you obviously didn’t die. That you as a child were not aware of people dying of cold is not proof that it never happened. I’ve provided a link to a news article giving a recent example. In incidentally, do you recall the price of coal and oil for your heating back then? Did the price shoot up like it did over the past couple of years? Or were they relatively stable in price and affordable? -

Can you please provide a link for your statement on basis of calculation and too for the source of the ‘statement’ of a recently surveyed parent that you have quoted. -

You stated “No , no one dies from the cold these days”. It would only take one ‘example’ of someone flying of cold to prove your categorical statement false. I provided a news article that gave such an example. I’m expect you might have a particular individual in mind, perhaps someone close or a family member. But it’s a bit of a sweeping generalization once you start to apply that to millions of people living in poverty in the UK of 2024. Don’t you think? -

I last month helped a friend in the UK sort his UK pension application. First attempt was using the online application, which came against the problem the OP mentions, a request for details of spells spent working/living overseas plus dates. Having added details for three, out of about a dozen, such spells overseas the website page did not offer the option to add more. So we (I on his behalf) called the helpline. After personal details and permission to speak on behalf of the applicant was settled (simply by asking the applicant if Chomper can speak on their behalf), the DWP staff member told me only one period overseas is required. This will trigger a check of the applicant’s NHS record and if periods were spent in the EU will also trigger any rights to EU nation pension rights. So details of one period living and working in EU was given over the phone and the rest of the application completed over the phone in less than 15 minutes. The applicant received his confirmation of pension payment within a ten days of that call. I’ve not heard if he has had any contact regarding EU pension rights. In summary. Use the online application page and where you have a record of working overseas provide just one example, preferably a period of working/living in the EU if you have one.
