  1. This is his defense. He hasn’t got a legal defense so he invents a 4th Amendment defense, even though he has not been indicted. It’s not of course about a ‘legal defense’ it’s a dog whistle to his supporters, he’s setting up his next violent mob attack(s). They, his supporters, need to pause and observe he’s not in power and he hasn’t got a hand picked AG corrupting Justice for him - take a look how it’s working out for his last mob. Nobody is going to be caught off guard next time.
  2. Yes, the DOJ/FBI is trying to hide things. Details of their ongoing investigation including the names of cooperating witnesses. Like they hide from all targets of investigation for all crimes they seek search warrants for. Trump knows the court are very highly unlikely to release this information, but to s desperate man it’s worth a try. Trump also knows that the most likely outcome is a the release of heavily redacted documents with details of on going investigation/witnesses blacked out. He’ll then claim ‘look they are hiding stuff from you’. Trump supporters will sing along to his tune, I expect you to be in the choir. As for your ‘the media’. It’s a page straight from Trump, the idea of the media all being involved in a coordinated conspiracy to misinform anything about Trump. Believing this nonsense is an article of faith among Trump supporters. I’m not qualified to deal with such levels of obvious active delusion.
  3. What’s unprecedented here is a former President putting US National Security at risk. It has to be assumed that the contents of every single document Trump had in his possession at Mar-a-Largo have been seen by or transmitted to US adversaries. Once TS/SCI documents relating to National Security are involved it is no longer just about Trump, far far from it.
  4. Not as close to an election as the last “Unprecedented” we were treated to.
  5. *Deleted post edited out* How so? Trump has already made public statements regarding his claims to have declassified the documents he had in his possession. The FBI will not interview journalists from any news source to determine if Trump is telling the truth, they’ll go directly to the former Trump administration staff. I’m guessing it’s that ‘uncomfortable observation’ that was the cause of you selectively quoting my post. It’s as simple as this, Claim made, claim checked. Trump is under criminal investigation, he would be very well advised to stop running his mouth.
  6. I am certain of this, one cannot trust any politician to be any thing but political (there’s a clue in the title). So when Lindsey Graham bleats about the FBI …..
  7. Trump having documentation relating to the investigation of his contacts with Russia is another alarm bell. No indictment was handed down, therefore there was no ‘disclosure’ to a defendant under indictment. So why did Trump have these documents? How did Trump obtain these documents?
  8. No. Nor does the source of this news report really matter. Trump has stated he declassified the documents (in itself not much of a defense because the warrant references laws that do not refer to ‘classification’). What does matter is the FBI will cross check his claims with the administration staff tasked with document security. It as simple as that. Claim made, check claim made.
  9. So let’s game this out. A Federal Judge (not the DOJ, not the FBI) will review the affidavit and decide what information may and may not be released to the public. The information that is not released will be ‘blacked out’. Be ready for the outrage that the DOJ/FBI (not a Federal Judge) is withholding information. What matters to Trump’s supporters is the constant outrage.
  10. We know he had them, the FBI recovered them from his home. But nice to see even Giuliani can occasionally return to the reality based universe.
  11. My pleasure: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/aug/19/revealed-liz-truss-supported-cuts-to-nhs-and-doctors-pay-in-thinktank-report
  12. I think being caught in possession of TS/SCI documents relating to national security is as bad as it gets. But hold. Trump has a habit of accusing others of that which he himself is up to. By all means stick with Trump, get the hat, the T-shirt, get the tattoo - somewhere we can all see it.
  13. Getting back to Truss, we now learn she has bright ideas to cut funding to the already floundering NHS and reduce the salaries of already hard to recruit Doctors. That might go down well with the extreme rightwing ERG, but good luck taking it to the electorate.
  14. It’s very easy. Trump has made a clear unequivocal statement that he issued a ‘Standing Order’. Where is the temporaneus record of this order? The nature of the claim, and the fact it can be so very easily checked gives us all a big blue of how desperate Trump. Well, that and his ‘mobster threat to the AG of the US.
  15. Plus: Appallingly poor productivity and the economy heading into Stagflation.
  16. There’s one thing very much dangerous than holding a former a president accountable to the law. Not holding a former President accountable to the law.
  17. Evidence was placed before a Federal judge, who reviewed it and issued a search warrant. The warrant has been published. Trump and his defense team will be issued with all supporting evidence to the warrant application, if and when an indictment is handed down by a Grand Jury. That’s how it always works. No inference can be drawn other than the DOJ/ FBI are following long established practice.
