  1. Liz Truss brought the UK bond market and the UK’s Pension Industry to the brink of collapse. Rachel Reeve has up set the hyper wealthy and a few absent but to let landlords.
  2. I suspect they wanted to hear the complaints these people have. I don’t think they brought along the pre-printed placards we see in the photos.
  3. Somebody else who doesn’t understand Government’s are elected on the basis of their manifesto.
  4. I think that gets the thread’s Godwin Gong.
  5. Because what, Government policies are announced by other means than in the Manifesto or by the elected Government after the election?
  6. If it’s not in the manifesto and was not announced as a policy after the election Toom it is not a Government policy, and hence cannot be a U-Turn. [edit ‘after the eke tion’]
  7. I missed it. But then I’m always highly suspicious of any quoted percentage without something backing it up. Especially so when the percentages are 90, 95, 99, 99.99 and 100%.
  8. I have explained the part manifestos play in elections and their role in Government. They represent the Government’s election promises and are the basis of the Government’s mandate. Once again refer Salisbury Convention.
  9. I have no problem with ripped memes, they are a clear indication that the user is suffering an inability to think for themselves. NPC?
  10. A misrepresentation of my comments, at no time have I said ‘only what was in their manifesto counts’.
  11. In the absence of something that is based on the facts of the part manifestos have in Elections and Government you come out with this baseless assertion. I guess it’s an improvement over some ripped meme, but only just.
  12. Now you demonstrate your ignorance of the fact Governments can choose to do more than what’s in their manifesto. Doing more than what’s in a manifesto is not a U-turn or a lie either.
  13. I’m truly shocked you don’t understand the part manifestos play in Elections and Government.
  14. Governments stand for election on the basis of their manifesto. It’s why, for example, the House of Lords doesn’t get to prevent legislation that is in the Government’s manifesto, it’s what the electorate voted for. You might recall the Salisbury convention from back when you were learning how your Government functions.
  15. Not at all. That so many here are unaware (perhaps deliberately so) that Governments are elected to deliver their manifesto is something of a surprise. But then the UK is nation I which people choose to stop working before they reach their retirement age and then expect t to be compensated when it turns out they got their math wrong.
  16. What was in the Manifesto on which Labour were elected?
  17. That thing you have of posting off topic refugee/immigrant stuff got the better of you again.
  18. Well they certainly bear some responsibility for the root cause of this grievance, as do the LibDems: “However, the timetable was accelerated under the coalition government as part of austerity measures, leaving many women unable to adjust their plans in time. “
  19. It’s odd to use the term ‘Women Against State Pension Inequality’ in a campaign for compensation for the outcome of having unequal State pension rights removed. The complaint that many lost out because they stopped working before pension age is bizarre. Starmer and Labour were elected on the basis of the Labour Party Manifesto, which makes no mention of this issue. And we can’t have him being flush with ‘other people’s money’ can we?!
  20. It’s only a U-Turn if it’s a retreat from a Manifesto pledge or a policy that is announced while in Government. It’s not a U-Turn.
  21. Excellent. I’ll agree with you on one thing, Oxfordshire is a very varied county. I bought my first house in Goring on Thames’ I lived living there, and again fabulous cycling country. Thank you for promoting g sine happy memories.
