  1. The increase in mortgage repayments as millions of fixed rate mortgage contracts come to an end has for some time been referred as a ‘ticking time bomb’, well the ticking just got louder. Additionally, the number of households holding mortgages has dropped from over 40% to under 30%, due to older people owning outright and younger people being excluded from buying by high costs. This has the effect of placing the burden of the Government’s policy to reduce spending power on a significantly smaller number of people than past interest rises. Therefore to achieve the same restriction in money within the economy interest rates have to go higher than otherwise would needed. As the months tick by, more fixed term mortgages come to an end, 800,000 by the end of 2023, over two million by the end of 2024 Not good news in the run up to bye elections and of course the general election. And all the while the driving cause of inflation is supply side restrictions within the economy, which will not be fixed by increasing inflation unless doing so creates a recession, although Jeremy Hunt has said he’s content to take the risk. I doubt many mortgage holders will agree, we’ll soon find out. https://www.resolutionfoundation.org/publications/the-mortgage-crunch/ https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/inflationandpriceindices/articles/priceseconomicanalysisquarterly/march2022
  2. I believe his disregard for safety, regulations and certifications was more a probable cause. That and firing the guy who pointed out safety concerns, including the pressure rating of the viewing window and the failure to type test the design.
  3. On the assumption that their oxygen ran out then consider a bunch of billionaires being told there’s a finite oxygen resource, we need to share equally, don’t take more than you need. A little late for that particular life lesson.
  4. Allegations of safety concerns are not simply after the fact speculation or rumor, they exist in court filings from 2018. David Lochridge, OceanGate’s former director of marine operations, claimed in the August 2018 court document he was wrongfully fired after flagging worries about the company’s alleged “refusal to conduct critical, non-destructive testing of the experimental design”. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/oceangate-titan-safety-quality-employee-fired-b2361289.html
  5. Blue tooth devices in safety critical control service?
  6. The consequences of the devices failing would be my guess.
  7. It applies to conspiracy laced whataboutary because that’s the whole basis of ‘Starmer’ being inserted into this thread. I think the Government have a few other more pressing problems to deal with to be retrospectively enacting laws against their political opponents.
  8. You’ll need to come up with evidence that Starmer broke a law, any law. Durham Police found nothing. Perhaps the Tories could take a break from destroying the economy and engage in a bit of ‘ex post facto‘ law making in order to help you and other out of the conspiracy hole you’ve dug for yourselves. Perhaps you could take a break from conspiracy laced whataboutary. Let’s stick to the facts, the law and the topic of discussion.
  9. The pictures tell you nothing about the law and the rules in place when they were taken. ‘Gaslighting’, nah, stick with irrelevant whataboutary.
  10. Out of date link, Durham police found no wrong doing. You’ve been told that on multiple occasions with links to the Durham Police statement on in the matter, but it passed in one ear and out the other.
  11. It turns out that the CEO of the Submarine Company is no fan of regulations, standards, testing and inspection. I suspect he’s having second thoughts, that is, if he’s still amongst the living. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jun/21/titanic-submersible-documents-reveal-multiple-concerns-raised-over-safety-of-vessel
  12. At least his mouth isn’t incriminating him, or praising America’s adversaries.
  13. And America’s adversaries took advantage of his weakness.
  14. As we see, they simply add another conspiracy to their conspiracy pile.
  15. Well you’ve certainly got me laughing Johnny. Imagine, for example, if a private citizen were charged under the espionage statute, found to be in possession of secret documentation relating to the nation’s nuclear weapons, they get indicted but not immediately locked up pending trial. That Johnny, would be real lenience.
  16. I think Trump, Putin, Xi, Rocket Man, the leaders of crime cartels, any and all of America’s foes would agree with you.
  17. China’s economy has a bunch of problems, not least the property bubble and a demographic time bomb.
  18. Odd point to raise in a Trump related thread. But we can’t agree on everything. Trump’s only term was a crock.
  19. When I said a few days back that Trump’s ratings would change, the cause I had in mind was the likes of FOX finally being in a position where they see the bigger/better selling news to be Trump’s crimes. It’s now happening.
  20. And yet nothing has changed about Trump, he’s exactly who and what many of us have always said he is. But you make a valid point, moving on from Trump is a thing. The problem is the GOP can’t move on and are increasingly seen as enablers and excusers of his criminality.
  21. The bigger issue is FOX is now backing Trump criminality as being more newsworthy. FOX views are now being treated to Trump’s lies being called out and his criminality bro g openly discussed on their favorite news channel.
  22. Of course it’s unopposed, it’s entirely reasonable on the basis of Trump’s past behavior to place restrictions on what Trump may not say about the case and control his access to evidence and witness names. The point remains, the DOJ application provides evidence of continuing investigations and as yet un-indicted individuals.
