  1. I don't blame those people, I blame the ones allowing unregulated entry into the US. One of the problems is wages have been stagnant for a very long time because of the illegals taking jobs at low wages. School systems get bogged down, health care. Too big a strain on our system to have an unregulated flow of illegals.
  2. Fair analogy for a restaurant who caters to one time tourists on the hotspots locations, not for an eatery catering to oldsters. On the subject of maximizing profits I can't comprehend why places with a large seating capacity don't use pre-mix soda fountains like you find in 7-11 and Shabu instead of selling cans.
  3. Alot of truth, back in the day the men came to US to pick the crops and send the money back to their families South of the border. In Ca. I worked on a large dairy before and after school during high school, not a single illegal working there. You had white kids and Portuguese working. Later I had jobs working in restaurants, no illegals working there either. But how could this be? How was it possible for businesses to exist without hiring illegals? Well, you had kids in high school who weren't afraid of working, you had Americans who didn't feel certain jobs were beneath them. You had Americans who wanted to provide for their families any way they could. But now we have become a country of sissies inhabited by those who if they can't sit in front of a computer or have to get dirty hands they won't work.
  4. These cops at the scene as stated above were so worried about doing something that might jeopardize their job that they do nothing. This is just my opinion, imagine the blow back had the first 2 cops engaged the shooter and wounded a student.
  5. Yes, maybe some day you'll be able to actually visit Thailand.
  6. Udon has some nice new style Thai restaurants, nice decor, kinda hip places.
  7. Good question, and if a beer bar with no food then 55thb is probably right, I don't know. Now I'll have to go eat again in the area and report back.
  8. I checked the menu for what to eat, not for a deal. I knew what I wanted to eat regardless the price, I don't check prices for drinks, I order. As I was paying I noticed the price and thought it odd.
  9. 5 pages now from folks who I'd guess haven't been to Pattaya in years. If I was a non drinker and a beer bar charged me 55thb I'd be fine with it, no big deal or a tourist trap. But, at a so so eatery on Soi Buakhao I'd think 30thb would be the price.
  10. The Uvalde school superintendent wants to fire the district’s police chief over the botched response to the May school massacre that left 19 kids and two teachers dead. https://nypost.com/2022/07/20/uvalde-superintendent-recommends-firing-police-chief-pete-arredondo/ Good, he should lose his job.
  11. We rarely drink coke, sometimes at restaurants but mainly water. But thank you for the info on buying a coke.
  12. I don't really know, just seems like the Thai guys might not like the idea of a foreigner involved in such a niche market.
  13. This shop in Pattaya had a foreigner involved, or at least he was handling large bags of bud at the counter. Besides the shop set up cost and rent the money for the BIB must be decent to let a foreigner get involved.
  14. Seems to me you're just making excuses for not retiring. It's a scary thing walking away from making decent money and quit your job. Retirement isn't for everyone. I retired almost 3 yrs ago, thanks to exchange rate I'm getting 100K/mo. Home paid for as are my 2 vehicles and MC. Got an old lady and a kid. Home improvements, tires, insurance and service for vehicles, school fees come out of another fund. I can blow through 100K/mo just living. It's all relative. My money is spent on family. As a single guy 50K/mo would be easy and I'd consider it a good life. Once you settle down here you stop ringing the bell every night. For me a good day is an ice chest with a few beers and a doobie on the beach.
  15. Again, I've made my point clear already and it's not about the paying 55thb. It's about why would this long established place charge way above regular prices, when many of their customers are not one time diners but probably stay there long term.
  16. I take it you didn't see where I said the name. Not CC
  17. Are you familiar with Soi Buakhao and the eateries there?
  18. I'll disagree over where the profits mainly come from. If you serve pre-mix fountain drinks, now you can make a profit. Food is where the money is.
  19. Nothing to do with budget, I just find it odd is all from a business point of view.
  20. See I'm not complaining about the price, it just seems odd is all. This isn't a high end joint that caters to tourists. Could be they're tying to keep away the buy a coke and sit all day kinda guy.
