  1. Land is expensive, hard to find 1 rai for less than 3 mil. Next to beach 1 rai maybe 20 mil. There are good places to live for virtually any budget.
  2. You guys starting out here in Thailand need to read this thread. Unless you want to be a farmer or rancher you don't need more than a rai or 2, if that. As stated above, you don't have to travel far from Pattaya to be far from everything. Guess the reason the Pattaya area comes up so much is because it ticks a lot of boxes for living. I'll bet for every happy camper who built a home in isaan there's a few unhappy guys. I'd say the main reason is to avoid her family.
  3. I hope hunter doesn't leave any dime bags around when his daddy gets the boot.
  4. Do you own a Thai business?? Guess I want to see who has filed paperwork for taxes in Thailand who is a retiree getting a pension. Apparently it's a thing now and thousands of retirees have been filing paperwork all along. I didn't know. Did you?????
  5. Your post is laughable, trying so hard to make something as difficult as possible. I don't advise anyone of anything, that's the point, you shouldn't either.
  6. I turn the main water off when we leave for a few days.
  7. I know of no foreigner paying taxes here in Thailand. You call it a simple guide if you want, after 15 yrs here in Thailand I see no reason to look for a thief to steal my money. I prepay taxes on pension and my rent money is sporadic. Why would I ever begin this silly process of willingly subjecting myself to taxes. It has to be anecdotal of course because the RD doesn't produce stats on this but with over 300k westerners living here and around 150k long stay expats, of course foriegners are filing taxes here. So, earlier you said thousands of foreigners are paying taxes, and then you say it's anecdotal, which by the way means it's not necessarily true. Because you're simply making things up and covering up with a bunch of words.
  8. Thousands of foriegners file every year using the existing rules and those DTA's. Please elaborate and in short what sort of financial situations are these thousands of foreigners. Are they pensioners who have their pensions dropped into a Thai Bank monthly? Are they business owners in Thailand? Thousands of foriegners file every year using the existing rules and those DTA's. The new rule does change things for some people, especially those using the income method who remit pension income in the year it is earned. Are you saying pension deposited into Thailand monthly is being taxed in Thailand VS. pension which has been sitting around in foreign bank and has gone through taxation is different.
  9. The topic is not, administrating an estate. I have a trust in my home country covering my RE and banks, beneficiaries listed on my retirement funds. Homes and vehicles are in the correct names in Thailand. This is about a bank account in Thailand. Who, some want to make getting the money to a loved one as difficult as possible. But carry on and show everyone just how smart you are.
  10. Ditto, I'm just laughing at all this. Well, kind of
  11. Now, seems like you have personal issues at home. If you can't trust her with a pin, why would you even care what happens to her when you die.
  12. I approve of simple answers. In my case I have my kid and her mom. That's it, here. They get the leftovers. Real simple.
  13. Cmon I was being a wise ass. Point being, just let the kids or old lady have bank pins and simply transfer money out. All I hear here is, it's not legal.
  14. If I have a bank account with the 800K. I die and someone I know has my online info and transfer money out or use my ATM card to MT the account. You're saying they (police) will go to immigration and track down my bank account, without myself having a will or anything official on paper.
  15. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/01/18/judge-orders-hearing-fani-willis-misconduct-georgia-case/ A state judge overseeing the election interference case against former president Donald Trump in Georgia has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 15 to hear evidence regarding accusations that Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis (D) and her lead prosecutor engaged in an improper relationship and mishandled public money.
  16. Congratulations, you finally started a topic that went past one page.
  17. Asking for links to such old and established news is itself trolling.
  18. No way biden will debate anyone. Having Trump on the debate stage would be good. He really should participate.
