  1. IMO history is on my side, seeing what happened in his first term, and subsequently. America used to make quality goods that were sought all over the world. Then bean counters and venal politicians took the jobs overseas. There are about 25-30% of Americans, rusted-on Trump supporters, who genuinely are as dumb as a can of soup. Worshippers at an altar. The voters who got him over the line have been conned by his promises. And the demonization of Harris. I can't see how cutting taxes for the rich and raising tariff walls is going to help the ordinary American with living costs. The last time Trump put tariffs on China, the CCP's retaliation meant massive subsidies were needed, to bail out American farmers. Trump is threatening tariffs against China, Japan and the UK. Combined, they have $2.5 trillion of US debt. When the rest of the world stops accepting the US can print money indefinitely, kicking the can down the road, the house of cards will collapse. Apologies for the mixed metaphor. Trump is appointing people to key positions on one attribute only - absolute loyalty. Competence and integrity are not deemed necessary. You're right, we will know within a year. I don't see the leopard changing his spots. Trump has totally polarized Americans. He will polarize them further if he carries out his promise to pardon the Jan 6 insurrectionists. IMO America is <deleted>.
  2. IME Japanese and Koreans are the hardest working. I've known some Christians who just went through the motions of working. Pay peanuts, get monkeys.
  3. IIRC Trump was elected on the votes of malcontents.
  4. South Australia gets 70% of its energy from renewables. In 2021, the state met 100% of operational demand from it for 180 days. The plan is to be 100% renewable by 2027. Horses for courses, South Australia gets a lot more sun than that miserable little island off the coast of France.
  5. You have heard of normal distributions in statistics? Another person who thinks one or two samples is representative of an entire population. The people you know have left Thailand. There's 70 million who haven't, and are deliberately educated to avoid questioning authority.
  6. The last time I checked, Australia had some of the world's strictest immigration policies.
  7. Judging by some of the responses I get from AI, it's got a fair way to go yet. Answers that are dead wrong, and seemingly unable to learn from fresh input. We already have robotics, from vehicle assembly to surgical robots. Remind me please - has Musk put a self-driving car on the market?
  8. The real problem with depopulation is the fact countries in Africa have the highest birth rates in the world, without education systems worthy of the name. I was in South Africa in 1983. Every African north of there was heading to it, because it had higher wages and a stable government. It's now got 34% unemployment. I know oil will still be around for another 50 years. Electric cars can only fill 30% of demand add best, due to raw material constraints. The Age of Renewables IMO is more desirable than the Age of AI. Unless we want to cook ourselves, and see economic migration which will dwarf what is happening now. I know there are people out there that are smarter than me. When you post the sentence "Your not half as bright as you think your are. " I am damn sure you are not one of them.
  9. Asians are top of the tree? I guess you have never looked at what Thai schools produce. I have yet to meet a Thai who is able to make change without a calculator.
  10. Get real, who wants a happy ending from a male masseur?
  11. My massage lady could probably remove wheel nuts without a spanner.
  12. Birth rates are declining in many countries. The cost of raising a child is a significant factor. A second factor is education. IIRC there was a study in The Economist which showed the number of children a woman gave birth to was inversely proportional to her education level. I don't necessarily see depopulation as a bad thing. Earth's resources are finite, the concept economies can expand ad infinitum is simply not sustainable.
  13. Flippant remarks only demonstrate how far out of touch you are. Ask the Soviet Army generals of World War II how they would have fared without women . 800,000 were integrated into their armies. Biological fact: Women cope with extremes of heat and cold better than men do.
  14. Was she a diversity hire when she became California's Attorney General, a senator, and the Vice-President? Methinks you are clutching at straws.
  15. I guess female co-pilots are there "just in case" too. Pilots have authority. Co-pilots are there to intervene if the pilot is incapacitated, or is making unsafe decisions. I don't think the proposition male pilots never make mistakes is going to fly, if you'll excuse the metaphor.
  16. Harris doesn't scare me. Trump and Musk do. Tell me what you find scary about Harris. The fact she sliced and diced Trump in the presidential debate, perhaps?
  17. A statistical sample of one proves your case? You should be careful choosing who to fly with. In the US, 5% of airline pilots are female. Air India is even more, 10%. Your misogyny is based on your experience with one Thai woman, it is hardly rational. What's scary is the nation with the world's most powerful military is either going to be led by a narcissistic sociopath, or a cabal of oligarchs.
  18. Currently 3 degrees C, you must enjoy having a frozen ball sack.
  19. You may be right, people will shell out money on the most ridiculous things. Including gold sneakers, bibles, and NFT cards.
  20. In rural areas, kids are free labor. In the cities, they are an extra burden. With the ongoing mechanisation of agriculture, not hard to see where population is trending in the West, compared to Africa and South America.
  21. How convenient, you forgot Taylor Swift. Sarah Palin? I'd rather stick my d!ck in a rat trap.
  22. Er - yaba (methamphetamine) is a significant problem in northern and northeastern Thailand.
  23. IMO the OP needs to cultivate a wombat mentality. Political and religious beliefs become irrelevant then.
