  1. When there's a guy who has been released on a pardon saying the first thing he will do is buy a gun, that's nasty.
  2. As I thought, nothing useful to post.
  3. It would be a good idea if Vegemite was not loaded with salt, therefore corrosive.
  4. AFAIK I've only had blood tests in a government hospital as an inpatient. I use Mengrai Labs in Chiang Rai. A full blood examination ( FBE ) is 1200 baht. Doctor is not needed, they email me the results in about 90 minutes.
  5. I don't see why this thread should be of any concern to law-abiding expats and retirees, although it looks like a fertile field for conspiracy theorists and former lawmen.
  6. I don't drink alcohol, and I haven't been on eBay for about 20 years. Some of the baiting attempts on threads like these are so pathetic, it's embarrassing.
  7. I guess that's why Russia has halted exports of refined products. Venezuala has the world's biggest oil reserves. The Siberian oil fields are a Red Queen's race. If they stop pumping, they freeze. That's why Russia has to sell oil at a discount.
  8. The Brotherhood pipeline is now shut, by Ukraine. That is the last pipeline to Europe. The graph shows what sales have been made before and after the invasion.
  9. The Montreal Protocol of 1987 has been resoundingly successful in eliminating the production and use of ozone-depleting substances. The result is a steady improvement in the ozone layer. It shows what can be achieved with international co-operation. OTOH, we seem determined to regress when it comes to CO2 emissions. We won't pay the price, future generations will.
  10. Trump is already threatening Putin with extra sanctions. The real cost of Putin's war is an economy which will take decades to recover. Russia has lost all the gas market in Europe. No foreign capital will be coming into the country. Any technology it imports will be at a premium. I doubt NATO has much to worry about. Ukraine is bleeding Russia in manpower and equipment every day.
  11. It's called the honeymoon period, which lasts for a few weeks to a few months with incoming Presidents. The acid test will come with inflation. Over 50% of Americans expect him to bring prices down. Deporting cheap illegal labor and raising tariffs does not seem to be a sensible way to tackle inflation. Apparently many people have tried and failed to convince Trump tariffs are inflationary. It remains to be seen if he will actually implement them. The "dark time in history" was when there was wages growth, GDP growth, unemployment was under 4%, and the stock market hit record highs. However, there are always people who want to revise history.
  12. Already done. This thread now shows one can't send anything with circuitry overseas with Thai Post, even if it is only a USB stick. Perhaps in your haste to attack me, you omitted to read the rest of the thread. Your turn with useful information.
  13. Oh look, another sniper up there in the peanut gallery.
  14. I look forward to the day when you post something useful and knowledgeable.
  15. Interesting comment, as I posted responses from AI after asking it what made Charles Reade's novel special. I was under the impression AI was impartial and objective. It's not universally accepted vaccines save people from death or serious impairment either. You have your opinion. I have mine. Let's leave it at that.
  16. There's a lot of that going around. Did you make a fool of yourself in Thailand, and have to retreat to the UK?
  17. In my spam folder, I got a offer of a Trump whisky glass. So now his supporters can get gold sneakers he has never worn, a Bible he has never read, or a whisky glass from a guy who doesn't drink. It gets more comical every day. What's next, pardoning windmills?
  18. Dear me, a touch of misogyny creeping into the posts of GG. How about a useful thread, such as candlestick patterns and Black-Scholes equations? RPN is so passe.
  19. Expecting perfection in human endeavors is a bridge too far for sensible people.
  20. Yes, there were preceding novels. "The Cloister and the Hearth" is considered the first of the historical novels, for the following reasons: Historical accuracy: Reade meticulously researched the 15th-century setting, incorporating authentic details about daily life, customs, and historical events. This level of historical accuracy was groundbreaking for the time. Vivid World Building: The novel is renowned for its vivid and immersive portrayal of 15th-century Europe. Reade brings the era to life through detailed descriptions of cities, landscapes, and the daily lives of people from various social classes. Complex characters: The novel features a cast of richly drawn and complex characters who are products of their historical context. Their struggles, motivations, and relationships are grounded in the realities of the time period. Focus on ordinary people: Unlike many earlier historical novels that focused on royalty and nobility, "The Cloister and the Hearth" centers on the lives of ordinary people, including a young scholar, his beloved, and their families. This focus on everyday life added a new dimension to the historical novel. While other novels before did have some of the elements mentioned, none had all of them.
  21. I'm Australian, class is something that still rules the British. We don't have any time for it. You talking about class, when you use the acronym KMA - that's rich. You're modest? You probably have a lot to be modest about.
