    Perhaps you don't understand my situation. My GF is Thai. Relationships between old Westerners and younger Thais are as common as traffic cones. You're right, it would be impossible in Oz except for some very rich people with trophy wives.

    When I spent a night in the local hospital, she slept on the floor next to my bed to look after me- fetching me edible food etc. IMO that's a reasonable indicator of her commitment to my well-being.
