Seriously How Gullible Are Thai People?
Lacessit replied to NONG CHOK's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Phu Chi Fa is well off the beaten track, but well worth a day visit. The walk to the top is fairly strenuous, good hiking boots or sneakers with plenty of ankle support are advisable. Although I did see three monks get up to the top in sandals. There's a side track about halfway up, which leads to a cairn which denotes the border between Thailand and Laos. Border guards are not necessary, it's a cliff. Thousands of Thais gather there to camp in January, to watch the sunrise. It is spectacular. -
Having a noggin with very little hair, I don't have to waste time and money on hair dye. I've always found blonde women with black roots, or guys with rugs or transplants, somewhat pathetic.

Thailand’s industrial ethanol: A game-changer in green economy?
Lacessit replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Industrial ethanol is not green. That is a myth promoted by the industry. Ethanol is C2H5OH. Every kilogram of ethanol contains just over half a kilogram of carbon, which is converted to carbon dioxide just like fossil fuels are. By the time one considers the environmental pollution caused by the application of fertilizers and pesticides to the crop, and the inputs to processing the crop into ethanol, it's behind the eight-ball. From the Manildra experience in Australia, the cost of producing ethanol from sugar cane is roughly twice that of refining fossil fuel into petrol. The industry there would not survive if it was not for lavish government subsidies. Green economic powerhouse my aching @rse.- 20 replies

Taking 3 small tubs of nam prik into UK via Heathrow
Lacessit replied to kwilco's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Seems someone else wants to extract the urine, or gaslight you. -
Just to respond to one aspect of your rant, you don't think we are having a climate crisis. Unfortunately, the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics say otherwise, not that the level of education you exhibit in your post would indicate you ever got within a bull's roar of being taught them, let alone understanding them. Your post has enough spelling and punctuation errors to convince me secondary school was as far as you got, if that. Trump is a criminal, a mob boss. He has made his fortune by conning other people. The operation of the legal system has nothing to do with conspiracy theories, much as you would like it to be. Trump would love you. Exactly the type of ignorant person he can grift without limit, then throw under a bus when you have served your purpose. Tell me, how many of the January 6 insurrectionists had their legal fees paid for by Trump?

Taking 3 small tubs of nam prik into UK via Heathrow
Lacessit replied to kwilco's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Coleman's English mustard seems to be a vinegar base. It's OK, but lacks the bite of Masterfoods Hot English Mustard. The strange thing is, the Masterfoods product in Australia is hot enough to crisp my nose hair. The same product when I buy it in Thailand has no bite at all. -

Just put a confused emoji on my posts. I'll know it is you.🤣 -

Off topic, my complaint with mustards in Thailand is they seem to lack the bite of what I get in Oz. Perhaps it's the heat that denatures them. -

Thanks for the compliment. I wasn't aware my posts were so subtle they needed emoji support. -

I am wondering when someone will catch on to my extracting the urine. -

I'm afraid my palate does not function at the level of you connoisseurs. The effect on my intestinal tract shows as much differentiation as having molten bismuth poured on my skin, compared to molten lead. -

Thai Frigate Receives Fire from Another Thai Frigate
Lacessit replied to John Drake's topic in General Topics
Thailand has 1700 officers of flag rank, the US with much bigger armed forces is capped at about 600. There is one Thai general for every 219 personnel of other ranks. With that kind of Chief to Indian ratio, it's only surprising there are not more clustersomethings. -

Of all the countries in the world, Australia is probably the strictest when it comes to importation of foodstuffs, and the fines can be eye-watering. I am wondering why the OP would not simply buy nam prik in the UK, with such a polyglot nation it should be available. Chilli is chilli, it's not as if there is any subtlety to it. -
174 police were injured during the insurrection. 4 responding officers died by suicide in the seven months ensuing. A number of officers are suing Trump, if your identity was known they would probably be suing you too. You're just a coward behind a keyboard, dishonoring people who swore to protect the law. But then, you, Trump, and dishonor are firm friends.

If you are happy in Bangkok, good for you. I'm happy where I am. When it comes to a choice between living in a city of 11 million people, and half a million, it's a no brainer, especially as it is a cooler climate. You are making an unverifiable statement. It is not possible to say how many 7,000,000 baht cars there are in Thailand, such data is privacy protected. There are 44 million vehicles registered in Thailand. Nearly 10 million of them are in Bangkok, which explains why the place is a traffic nightmare. I am not sure where you are going with this, except perhaps to imply I am an uneducated hick from the sticks who has not been anywhere. Keep on thinking that if it makes you feel superior. -
What took you so long?

We are all confident the OP would be happy to help you with your warped mind. The problem for you will be when he warps it to his way of thinking.

I would not live in Bangkok if you paid me to do so. Expensive, polluted, hot. To me, it's the drain hole of Thailand, 1 metre above sea level. Unless the Thais take a leaf out of the Dutch playbook, it will be gone in 50 years. You presumably have no knowledge of how many of the expensive vehicles you see are paid for in full, and how many are deep in debt because their owners want to keep up appearances. The real Thailand is probably 68 million people, with 3 million people living in affluence. That's just a guess, post some information from an authoritative source if you can find some to contradict me. I didn't get to see places such as Phu Chi Fa, the House of Opium, Chiang Saen Skywalk, Doi Inthanon, Phayao lake, San Kamphaeng Hot Springs, Wat Sang Kaew Phothiyan or Chiang Mai Erotic Gardens by sitting on my bum in a bar. Saying Bangkok is representative of Thai society is like saying the Galleria in Houston is a microcosm of the Texas population. I don't claim to be an expert in anything. I call it as I see it. -
The OP seems to be operating under the assumption most older foreign people here are lonely, bitter, and depressed. I am probably speaking for quite a few others when I say I am far happier here than I would be stuck in my home country, and life is far more interesting. I would suggest the OP forget about other people's mental health, and focus on his own.

How can I assimilate myself more into Thai culture?
Lacessit replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The OP can never be 100% Thai, it's a fool's errand. We are farang, and will always be classed as such. Far better to adjust sensibly. Learn as much of the language as you can. Accept you will be told what a Thai thinks is the answer you want to hear, when you ask any question. Respect Thai customs, even if you think they are stupid. Have a sense of humor, Thais love a joke. Learn what are cultural no-no's, such as shouting, patting the head of a child, or pointing the feet at anyone. IMO trying to assimilate into Thai culture would be like trying to clean a battleship with a toothbrush.
