Solar power IMO will become almost the only decision when batteries catch up to solar panels, in terms of affordability. When I installed solar panels on my house in Australia ( one of the first to do so ), my feed-in tariff was 66.5 cents/kWh, and my quarterly power bill was about $2. Those days are long gone, as grid suppliers realize their market is shrinking.

It's an extremely depressing thought there are that many imbeciles in the world, let alone in a single nation.

Working out solutions with despots doesn't work, ask Chamberlain. The war will stop either when Putin runs out of money, armaments and men to prosecute it, or the Ukrainians kick the Russians out. Trump is only useful to Putin.

Royal Thai Air Force to open facilities and golf courses to public

You think they should be free? IME military courses are usually cheaper than their private club counterparts. -

His trolling posts would be tolerable if they were not so stupid.

It's what the man has said himself.

America IS staying out of the war in Ukraine. There are no boots on the ground. The money the US and EU are sending to Ukraine is not wasted, it is thwarting Putin's desire to take over all of Eastern Europe again. Thriving economies are good for the US as well, stagnant command-style economies are not. When the EU stopped buying Russian oil and gas, who do you think replaced Russia as a supplier? The US shale oil industry is booming. When buyers of Russian armaments saw how easily they were destroyed in Ukraine, who do you think started buying more equipment from the US? It's a multi-billion dollar market. Conclusion: The US is not wasting money. Its manufacturing industry is going gangbusters..

Begging the question.

What war has the US started in the last two years? Catch up with reality some more, espionage does not stop when there are no wars.

So does Trump. Catch up some more.

Freedom is being able to say or post anything reasonably rational on social media, without fear of being fined or locked up. Some people even get away with deranged stuff. That does not apply in Putin's Russia. Given the bitterness you have displayed on your life situation, and your misadventures in Thailand, I'd say you need a shrink far more than I do.

It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil, noisy minorities get all the press. Biden's campaign is only getting started, it has far more funds to fight with. Trump's campaign funds are going on his legal bills. IMO Biden will win, Trump will have too much baggage on election day, assuming he is not in a jail cell by then.

Plenty of secondhand stores in Chiang Mai, all shapes, colors, and sizes. Or visit Changkhlan Road, 2000 - 3000 baht.

Here's a hard fact for you. If Trump is re-elected, no other country in the world will share intelligence with America. Why would they, given what Trump does with it? Another hard fact. Putin won't stop if he wins in Ukraine. He wants to restore the USSR, and has repeatedly said so. Third fact. If you said about Putin what you are saying about Biden, you'd be eating prison food. Saying your thinking is different does not mean it is right.

Unemployment at less than 4%. Stock market at all-time highs. GDP growing. You'd rather have a convicted felon in the White House?

The "Exodus" of European Farangs, The Trap.

It matters a lot, dementia patients can get very frightened and confused if they are not in very familiar surroundings. My former wife has dementia. My son gets called about once a month to travel to where she lives, because she has forgotten her keys ( or thinks they have been stolen ), or is out walking and gets lost. One time, she was lost 100 meters from her house. IMO my son is the one constant in her life she remembers. -
Royal Thai Air Force to open facilities and golf courses to public

Most of the military golf courses seem to be run by the army. AFAIK they are always open to the public. -
This is like watching a circus combined with a train wreck. The RNC has spent millions on failed legal challenges to mail-in voting. It has also spent millions on encouraging Republican voters to - you guessed it - mail their votes in early. Meantime, Trump has said in a speech after the Iowa primary - no mail-in votes, paper ballots with voter ID only. Campaign donations from large donors have slowed to a trickle. A presidential candidate who has crowed over repealing Roe vs Wade, potentially alienating most female voters. Large donors employ large numbers of women. A candidate who says he'll let Russia attack delinquent NATO countries. Ironic, coming from someone who is renowned for stiffing contractors and creditors. A candidate who thinks US servicemen are suckers and losers. The small donors are still sending their money, blissfully unaware ( or maybe they don't care ) Trump is filching campaign fund donations to pay his legal bills - $55 million and counting. If I was a Hollywood scriptwriter, no way I could make this stuff up. It's too far-fetched. Thank the gods I am not American.

Australian Aged Pension

I have some obsessive - compulsive traits myself, in the way I order my possessions. IMO I am nowhere near the obsessive behavior KH constantly exhibits. I don't need to speculate on any other mental quirks he may have. -

I'd agree it's a bit like a Test opener making 20 ducks in a row. -

Another option I have is to bring in Australian dollars and exchange them for baht at SuperRich or the like, the rates are competitive. As I said before, when governments try on stupid things, people look for ways to circumvent them. -
If you are happy there, fine. It's just not my preferred place to live. No longer interested in bars.
