Noisiest bird, newly arrived in CM: What is it?
Lacessit replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Got it, thanks. That is what I call the "por lao" bird, which is Thai for " enough already " . It sounds like a bar girl who has had enough of an importuning customer. -
Biden: "I am an elderly man ... I know what the hell I'm doing"
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Conservative tabloid, what would anyone expect? I would suggest having BOTH Biden and Trump have the same cognitive tests, and seeing who performs better. The test Trump took was something a six-year-old would ace, and there is no knowing whether he cheated as usual. -

Having listened to the bird in the video kindly posted by KhunLa, I don't find it annoying at all. Annoying is when my neighbor in the village has his stereo at maximum, and is playing Thai songs which sound like cats being tortured. -
PM Highlights Drug Crisis in His Parliament Address

Everybody's body chemistry is different with respect to its reaction to pharmaceuticals. For example, morphine does absolutely nothing for me. Cannabis just makes me feel woozy. OTOH, give me oral demerol, and you'd be picking me off the ceiling. Kratom has to be extracted from the leaves by macerating and boiling. You may not have got any effect, because the bottle of whisky failed to extract anything. -
A few misconceptions in your post: As a speed reader, I don't need an hour to look for spelling mistakes. There are none, bravo. Unless I want to substitute commentators for commenters. I don't need to Google Latin terms, I was taught the language by an authority on the subject. I am saying Ukrainians are a different ethnicity to Russians, on the basis of their language, alphabet, and culture. The Russians in the Donbas are ethnic to Russia, not Ukraine. Switzerland has 4 different languages. It's no surprise Ukraine would be bilingual, given the proximity. The Ukrainians are no more Nazis than you or me. That is one of Putin's lies. History shows the Germans were greeted as liberators in WW II. Kiev surrendered without firing a shot. The Ukrainians soon learned the Nazis were no different to the Russians in terms of oppression. Who calls the Croatians Nazis nowadays? They welded themselves to the German side far more steadfastly. It makes sense for Ukrainians, who are fighting for national survival, to be tough on Russian quislings in the Donbas. Going from there to genocide is rank bullsh!t. Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses.

How do you expect people to identify a bird if you don't post an audio recording of its call? -

That is one serious piece of equipment. Thanks for the photo, I'll be able to identify you after your EV runs me down. -
Yes I do. Ukrainians have a different language and alphabet to Russians, although they mostly speak Russian because it was made compulsory during the Soviet era. I suggest putting a "D" into your nom-de-plume, to better reflect your character. BTW, the spelling of the gladiator name you chose is incorrect. It is RETIARIUS.

Biden: "I am an elderly man ... I know what the hell I'm doing"

IIRC I did mention Raskin and Blinken. How much political experience do you think Michelle accumulated in the 8 years of the Obama presidency? She would have been exposed every day. -
The OP will lose about $60 a fortnight in energy and phone supplements, more if he is on rent assistance. Unlikely it is a few hundred. Your pension is portable. Health insurance at your age is prohibitively expensive. If you have any pre-existing conditions, forget it. Self-insure. Your Thai wife can help you negotiate public hospitals, although they do have long wait times. Standard practice - the family stays with you and cares for you in hospital. Nurses only take measurements. Obviously, private hospitals are much more expensive than public ones. IMO if you have any disability, you would be better off staying put in Australia.

AFAIK he does not need diapers. -

Unless he can win in 2024, the comparison IMO is valid. -

Christie comes across as one of the few in the Republican Party to tell it like it is. The irony of Trump calling him fat was lost on most. If the Dems managed to persuade Michelle Obama to run, IMO she would wipe the floor with anyone the GOP could muster. Raskin or Blinken. Shallow, fake, incompetent etc. Aren't you describing Greene and Boebert? -
It was a succession of softballs from Carlson, but then I expected to be disappointed. Hard ball would have been asking Putin how many tanks and soldiers Russia has lost in Ukraine, or why the attack on Kiev failed. I wasn't surprised to see Putin expressing his alternative reality, just like Trump does.

I don't know what you have against Kamala Harris. Perhaps there is some misogyny there. You prefer the talking train wreck, Marjorie Taylor Greene? Presidencies IMO should be measured partly by the quality of the staff they pick. Trump hired and fired many staff, in that kind of culture eventually the leader only gets told what his staff thinks he wants to hear. Just like Trump tells HIS followers what he thinks they want to hear. The results from the COVID pandemic are quite evident, a statistically significant higher death rate in red states compared to blue states. How many people has Biden fired? Again, the results are there for anyone to see. GDP growth, highest ever in 2022, low unemployment, a booming stock market. No wonder Trump wants the economy to tank. -

If anyone is trapped, it is Republicans. A multiple loser with 91 indictments, are you kidding me? Swing voters held their noses in 2016, they won't do it again. As an Australian PM once said, a souffle only rises once. -

IIRC, Trump thought Nikki Haley was responsible for Capitol security, confusing her with Nancy Pelosi. Haley was not even in DC. It's quite remarkable how Trumpers can focus in on Biden's weaknesses, while totally ignoring those of their hero. At least Biden can say he doesn't have to wear diapers. He doesn't have 91 indictments to answer to either. -
