  1. IIRC Trump was not averse to employing Mexicans in his properties as a source of cheap labor, before he started his Nazi shtick of "poisoning the blood". Many Republicans have done the same. The real reason the GOP does not want them in America is they tend to vote Democrat when they get citizenship, and Republicans are outnumbered on the popular vote already. You cite Australia as one of the examples of illegal immigration. We are having having truckloads of trouble from various legal immigrants. We are also spending billions of dollars on detention centres. Personally, I would let them all come, legal and refugees. Probationary period, then citizenship. If they misbehave, they get deported back to the sh!thole they came from, including any families they have.
  2. Agree. I am also wondering how many of these herbs have been rigorously tested for their effect on liver and kidney function. Mind you, paracetamol is a very common drug which, in combination with excess alcohol, is very damaging to the liver.
  3. How many Thais do you know who are XXL? They'd be too big for me, and I am 6 ft and 82 kg. The Thai staff you have probably go straight to a secondhand shop, and sell anything they can there.
  4. It's why Trump has publicly stated he wants the US economy to crash, the comparison of his administration's economic performance with that of Biden is not flattering. Of course, his rusted-on base would not even know the meaning of the acronym.
  5. I find the easiest way to deal with mumbling actors is to stop watching them. IMO Game of Thrones had some of the best enunciation of lines, particularly Peter Dinklage ( Tyrion Lannister ).
  6. I guess that means no other country in the world should trust America, including Australia.
  7. Please get real. The GDP of South Korea is 1.8 trillion. The GDP of North Korea ( estimated ) is 100 billion. Who is the greater threat in the region?
  8. I always thought it was a shame Trump did not meet the same fate with COVID. He had the best taxpayer-funded medical care at Walter Reed Hospital. I can't recall him ever expressing gratitude to the medicos for saving his life. Just continued to ignore the risk to his followers, with more political rallies.
  9. The first country to use nukes against another country will be obliterated by everyone else. Perhaps you have forgotten what the acronym MAD means. The last time Russia invaded Europe was 2014, when it annexed Crimea illegally. Russia has multiple gates through which it can be attacked via west or east. It had nine gates closed to the west after WWII, now it only has one. Ukraine for them is just a stepping stone. It's a bit ironic Russia is focused on conflict in the west, where they have usually given as good as they got. The real damage to the Russian psyche has been done by invasions from the east. Mongols and Tartars. Back on topic, I have no doubt if Trump gets in, he will jettison Ukraine. Not surprisingly, as Moscow is probably bankrolling him.
  10. If money has been brought up quickly, AND she has been an bar owner, IMO those are a huge red flag. IME bar owners have hearts of stone. I store all my passwords with Bitwarden, it has only one master password. Photograph all your cards and documentation on your password-protected phone. Back up the information on an encrypted thumb drive. It saves time if anything is stolen.
  11. She will not be working 24 hours a day, most of the time she will be sitting around texting her friends, or watching lakorn on TV. Or sleeping, I am convinced Thais can sleep anywhere at any time. Women in my GF's village earn 200 baht for an 8 hour day in the rice fields. That's only during planting and harvesting, the wages averaged over a year are 2-3K baht/month. For them, 15K baht/month for housework would make them village HiSo's.
  12. Bumbler in chief? IIRC Trump was busy playing golf and charging the American taxpayer $800K a round for accommodating his security detail. Meanwhile, thousands of Americans were dying of COVID because masks smudged his makeup, and they were trying his quack remedies. You certainly do have your blinkers on today.
  13. AFAIK Israel makes its own war material, some of which is very innovative. Hamas has committed to the destruction of the state of Israel. Wake me up when they no longer do. There is no reasoning with rabid dogs. You either exterminate them, or die yourself. The regional war is being backed by Iran, using the Houthis as proxies in the Red Sea. New Zealand is dependent on the free flow of shipping, be careful what you wish for. Diaper Don avoided conflict, which encouraged tyrants such as Putin, Xi, and Kim. It's called appeasement, or kicking the can down the road. If Trump gets back in, Ukraine will be toast, NATO will be history, and Europe will be invaded by Russia again. Obviously, geopolitics is not your strong point.
  14. Try reading the economic data coming out of America. No wonder Trump is publicly wishing the economy and stock market will tank. The Afghanistan exit was a poisoned chalice left by Trump's incompetent administration.
  15. Go looking for ugly ones, 15K /month would be reasonable. Contract the sex out. With health issues, it might be infrequent anyway. If your original handmaiden won't accept 15K, walk away. Do not, under any circumstances, disclose what assets you have. Or what you can afford.
  16. IMO the GOP would probably win if they nominated anyone but Trump. He's a gift to Biden. Conversely, if the Democrats retired Biden, and persuaded someone such as Michelle Obama to stand, IMO she would walk it in. Cue the squawks of outrage from the Trumpers.
  17. Seems you are not doing a bad job of hating yourself.
  18. Let's say I have $100,000 in savings which I have accumulated prior to January 1, 2024. I can remit what I need without being taxed, and accumulate the OAP in an Australian bank account until said savings are exhausted. Perhaps you missed that part of the briefing by Mike Lister. Many Australian retiress in Thailand are married to Thais too. I might join them. My research proves you have your head up your @rse.
  19. He's a politician. Are you living under a rock, that you haven't heard the expression "pressing the flesh"? At least they don't have to put up with Diaper Don's sh!t. That's not a figure of speech.
  20. I'll be applying to the RD for a tax number next month, but keep on making your dumb assumptions. Thailand's tax is on income. Anyone who can prove their funds come from savings accumulated prior to January 1, 2024 won't be taxed on those remitted funds. Sloppy research on your part. Show me what other posts have calculated is the Thai tax on income for an expat married to a Thai, on the OAP alone. I suspect your comment is another trolling attempt.
  21. If one is married to a Thai, anyone on the Australian OAP will be taxed very lightly, with the various allowances. Those amount to 560,000 baht. On current exchange rates, the single OAP is about 605,000 baht. Therefore, tax payable in Thailand is 2250 baht. I think it would be amusing if someone mounted a class action against the Australian government for failing to observe a double taxation agreement with Thailand.
  22. You may be right, JFK certainly did not want Johnson as a running mate.
  23. Every Trumper on this thread focuses in on Biden, with adjectives such as doddering and incompetent. They conveniently ignore the fact Biden surrounded himself with highly competent people. It shows in the economic data, and what his administration has got done. OTOH, Trump hired toadies and yes-men, and fired anyone who tried to inject reason into his meetings. Then showered them with abuse after they were gone. Only deeply insecure people behave the way Trump did. I guess his insecurity has gone exponential nowadays.
  24. Songkhran usually lasts about 4 days in Chiang Rai. I either hole up in the condo, or travel by car. I won't get on the scooter, too many idiots that think it's funny to throw chunks ice along with the water.
  25. This is miraculous news. It's the first time I have heard of a baby being weaned after only one month, and eating cake instead.
