  1. I usually pay for my gasoline with cash. So if there is a service provider outage, EV owners are basically screwed?
  2. You mean EV's have liquid radiators, just like ICE's?
  3. So if you are out in the boonies with no mobile signal and no recharging station, you can't get going again without a tow truck, and there's no such thing as a jerrycan full of electrons you can cadge from a passing EV. I read some time ago 25% of recharging stations on the West Coast of America are broken down, which is not encouraging. I doubt that many gasoline/diesel pumps are in the same boat.
  4. Having two posters tell me I am wrong is good enough, with some evidence posted. I was told by a nurse at a government hospital ( age 44 ) she had to retire next year, when I asked why she said it was compulsory. Perhaps it is more a voluntary system. While it is difficult to tell the age of Thai women, I have noticed most of the nurses I see seem to look quite young.
  5. Could someone please explain why a mobile phone signal is necessary to enable recharging of an EV, I don't understand. In fact, when refueling with gasoline, there are signs asking for mobiles to be switched off. Is there some reason why a debit/credit card cannot be used to pay for a recharge?
  6. Have you posted a pic of yourself?
  7. I would point out a pricing mistake irrespective of whether it is in my favor, or vice versa. I don't buy grapes, loaded with sugar.
  8. The delay is more likely to be with BB than with WISE. IME, my AUD transfers to a Kasikorn account take less than an hour, whereas my BB account can be more than 24 hours.
  9. Scammers would not bother with looking at individuals that way. Instead, Facebook sells the scammers the personal data in tranches of about 40,000 people, with extra data those people are unaware has been harvested.
  10. The first part of the OP's question is easy. No person of military age wants to be sent to a meat grinder where they will be led by corrupt idiots, poorly fed and clothed, and expected to fight with questionable ammunition. All the time under the threat of being shot by their own side, if they retreat. The latest intelligence from the US, with their all-encompassing surveillance capability, is that nearly 90% of the initial invasion force has been killed or incapacitated. It would be a miracle if that kind of information could be suppressed entirely. How are they financing themselves? Some from savings, or investments outside Russia. Some from criminal activity.
  11. It seems to me social media is a platform where any fruitcake with a few smarts can post sh!t that appeals to the confirmation bias of those following him/her/it, and get paid handsomely for doing so. Trump would be nowhere without social media. Even with more wholesome offerings such as Taylor Swift, it's an example of celebrity worship. The masses goggling at someone who might be history in a year. Nice to look at, nothing else. I don't consider I am missing out on anything by staying off social media, with the exception of ASEAN. Even here, we have an assortment of ratbags.
  12. "Dems & their media allies have given up on debating issues & have shifted to name-calling & rhetorical fearmongering,” And here was I thinking Trump had the patent on those attributes.
  13. Less than 2% of golfers can play to scratch or better. Only 10% can play to a 5 handicap or better. Breaking one's age is even tougher, the percentage of golfers who can shoot their age on a course of 6000 yards is 0.000009%.
  14. No. IMO the winter so far in Chiang Rai is definitely warmer than last year. On a nominal scale of measurement, I only need a sheet to sleep under, and my GF has not resorted to her sheepskin Ugg boots. Last year, she wore them for 2 months.
  15. I bring in one bottle of wine from Australia each time - a good one.The duty-free shops in Thailand are more expensive.
  16. He is certainly pushing at the envelope with his comments directed at judges, prosecutors etc. It may be he gets jailed for contempt of court first. The other purpose of his rhetoric is squeezing out donations. because no lawyer will work for him without payment up front.
  17. IMO Trump resorting to ever more extreme rhetoric is a measure of his desperation. He knows he has to delay his four trials, and get re-elected as President. If he fails in either, jail is almost inevitable.
  18. For a fasting insulin test, I would be going to a pathology lab. The health clinic is merely a middleman. I use Mengrai Labs in Chiang Rai, and get charged the same as any Thai would pay.
  19. As Dirty Harry once said, a man's got to know his limitations. No thanks.
  20. Golf courses create more oxygen than an aircraft does.
  21. At the military course where I play, there are always caddies and groundstaff fishing in the watercourses. The only material I've ever seen put on the greens is sand.
  22. Unless you get around on a bicycle, eschewing all other forms of transport, your hatred is fake outrage.
  23. I think I will pass on the advice of someone who is murdering cabbage, and other innocent vegetables. Tried piloting a small aircraft over the Hamersley Ranges once. While I could do it, quite taxing keeping the aircraft level.
  24. My bank account name does not match my full name with WISE, so I sometimes get asked for verification. A screenshot of my bank transactions involving WISE, and a passport copy, fixes the problem. It is not consistent though. Occasionally I will get a transfer to my WISE balance waved through without any request for verification.
  25. IIRC Einstein said there are no limits to the universe and human stupidity, but he was not sure about the universe.
