I think I completely missed the point about (not) having kids
Lacessit replied to Celsius's topic in Family and Children
I turned 80 two days ago, and I daresay I still have a lot more of my marbles than someone who posts breeding is a mug's game, thereby indicating his parents were idiots. It has me wondering what genes they passed down to you. BTW, you forgot the apostrophe in Mug's. Early signs? -
I guess corrosion is not rocket science either, even it is governed by coolant composition and water chemistry. Very little point to installing a reco engine if it gets stuffed up by an incompatible radiator or coolant. Next, you'll be advising the OP to run the engine on palm oil, lubrication is not rocket science either. News flash - there are about 36,000 NACE members in 130 countries who would disagree with you.

Many more people dropped out of Uni or school and ended up stacking shelves or scrubbing toilets for a living, if you can call it that. -

I have a 49 yo son who is very supportive when I go back to Australia. A formidable human being. I have a 18 yo Thai quasi-grand-daughter whom I am assisting through university. She's a smart kid, so she deserves a chance. It's a lottery, no one can predict how kids will turn out. Having said that, IMO you get out of kids what you are prepared to put into them by example, like most other things in life. -
Stranded in Thailand: Bankrupt foreign woman unable to return home

Depends on her visa. I am on a retirement visa, I never have a return flight to Australia booked until I am in Thailand. -

If she can show evidence of the $10,000 transfer, her plight could be genuine. Otherwise, it could be a scam. I would have thought her most obvious get-out card would be to contact the US embassy.- 165 replies

I like to think I contribute to the forum on other threads with my scientific knowledge. IMO I contribute to this thread by calling out BS, and use of dishonest arguments. -
Your post is misleading, organic acids in coolants are buffered by stronger alkali such as Na+ and K+. Putting organic acids alone into a mixed alloy system ( e.g copper, brass, steel, aluminium ) would be a fast path to corrosion disaster. I assume your reference to ethanol is in relation to fuel, putting ethanol into coolant would create an azeotrope with a boiling point of 78 C. Coolants are usually designed to raise the fluid boiling point to above 130 C.

Jury finds Donald Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in civil case

I don't see it as a personal attack, more as a statement of your preferences. I think I have made no secret of my preference for older women, and the reasons for so doing........ You have a very steep hill to climb if you want to argue most 20 yo women are not airheads. My upbringing included the tenets rape, sexual assault and/or molestation of any woman was unthinkable. As was persisting if my interest was unwelcome. I was brought up to regard any man who did so as a moral coward. Back to Trump, who ticks all the boxes of amoral, coward, bully, and sexual predator. The jury did not find against him on the rape complaint, they found against him on the sexual assault and defamation complaints. Stop whinging about a complaint which the jury did not uphold. IMO Trump's chickens are coming home to roost, this is only the first stanza. -
Anything above pH 7 is alkaline. Some coolants have triethanolamine as a buffer agent, which raises the pH to 8. I seriously doubt alkaline pH is the cause of the attack on the "glue", it's far more likely organic compounds such as ethylene glycol are responsible for the glue being degraded. Trust me, I was a chemist before I morphed into a research scientist.

The answer is simple - stop reading his posts. I have, because it is the same theme restated multiple times,. I have better things to do with my time. -
I look at the cost relative to what food is on offer. I will eat at a buffet if it is in the price range 200 - 300 baht. More, I walk away. I pace myself, and stop when I feel full. I don't like feeling that I have overeaten. I agree Auf Der Au in Chiang Mai is very good value. IIRC, Siripanna Resort past Gymkhana Golf Club has a Thai food lunch buffet for 199 baht, including desserts of cake and ice cream. Good value. I haven't encountered anything similar in Chiang Rai.

Jury finds Donald Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in civil case

Er - you want Trump's semen inside her before accepting he raped her? News flash - it's possible to have sex with a woman without ejaculation. Rape is about power, it's not about sex. It's proof when other women come forward independently to confirm Trump assaulted them. It's proof when he makes statements supporting sexual predation. Would you be dumb enough to do what Trump did in the aftermath, or smart enough to keep your mouth shut? The jury believed her, they did not believe Trump. Perhaps there is some common sense in America after all. I understand - you prefer 20 yo airheads. Each to his own. -
Look at the footage of Russian tanks being turned into scrap metal by artillery and shoulder-fired missiles, or Russian infantry in trenches getting clobbered by grenade - bearing drones. There's no fog of war about that. If the Russians were responding in kind, don't you think they would be boasting about it on social media?

According to photos of her when she was 50, she was an attractive looking woman. Trump mistook her for his former wife during the deposition. I am not aware of rapists and sexual abusers asking the age of their victims before doing the deed. The evidence was supplied by two of her friends who testified in court she had told them shortly after the rape/assault, and other women who came forward to testify he had molested them too. What do you want as evidence, his DNA on her dress? -
You may be right. However, Putin cannot avoid mobilizing Russians in the major cities, which he has studiously ignored so far, preferring to focus on minority groups. Putin fears the political backlash from complete mobilisation, even now he refuses to designate the conflict as a war. Each mobilisation he conducts results in the best and brightest Russians fleeing the country. They don't want to be cannon fodder for incompetent generals. IMO Russia is either going to be a failed state, riven by ethnic conflicts, or a Chinese vassal.

I have never heard of an acid coolant, if anything they tend to be alkaline. The excess rust you see is nothing compared to what is lining the passageways of the engine and radiator, and affects heat transfer. Metals conduct heat, rust doesn't. To say nothing of what it is doing to the water pump. Coolants also perform the function of elevating boiling point as well as depressing freezing point. Coolants raise the boiling point of the fluid to above 130 C, a useful property in the Thai climate. I wish you good luck with your engine, you are going to need it.

I don't intend to, the Ukrainians do. The Ukrainians are well equipped, well trained, have high morale and have competent leadership. The Russians have none of the above, their only strategy is to attack civilian infrastructure. I expect the Ukrainians to continue attacking Russian logistics, which so far they have done quite brilliantly. Logistics win wars. Putin is hiding the real numbers of Russian casualties, that information can't be suppressed forever. When it does get out, the Russians themselves may well do the work for the Ukrainians.

I very much doubt a T55 will have any effectiveness on a battlefield against an M1 Abrams, Challenger or Leopard tank. The technological gulf is too huge. IIRC, the Iraqis had a lot of T55 and T72 tanks, the Abrams slaughtered them. Any hits on an Abrams just bounced off. Unless the Russians have found a way to equip the T55's with armor-piercing discarding sabot ammunition and precision guidance, it will be the same story.
