  1. I disagree. IMO I was successful in my chosen field because I worked in a range of industries before my final gig, which gave me a considerable edge compared to the people who had worked solely in that industry. Doesn't everybody say Thais who have been outside Thailand are smarter than the ones who stay home, where the education system is designed to promote conformity?
  2. IQ in Thailand is lower than average because the education system does not encourage independent thought. OTOH, Thais are among the most social people on the planet. IMO they would compare favorably with us in terms of emotional intelligence. Smartphones must have been like manna from heaven for them.
  3. A degree from a Thai university doesn't count for much in Thailand, even less in other countries. There are graduates working in MacDonald's and KFC. Some bar girls are very smart, how else would they take the life savings of a foreigner, or have half a dozen of them on a string?
  4. Kratom might be better for the pain. Everyone is different, pot acts as a sedative with me, and gives me balance problems.
  5. IMO Macs are something of a fashion accessory as well, and such accessories always command a premium. It's like when people buy a 200 SLK Mercedes for the cachet, when something like a Kia Stinger or Hyundai Kona N will do the job, just as well or better, at a lower cost.
  6. I don't seem to have too many problems with Thais, possibly because I speak the language reasonably well. I do tend to keep to myself, mainly because Thai entertainment and socialising is hard on my eardrums. I certainly like sitting in a shopping mall, and watching slim leggy Thai girls walk past. On balance, I would say I have had more problems with foreigners than Thais.
  7. My mistake, I think of tabs as windows. One of the reasons for my exit from Windows ( the Vista version ) was the mind-boggling amount of time it took to simply boot up, let alone operate anything else. Usually about 3 minutes. In contrast, my first use of a Linux system was about 20 seconds. I did once have a secondhand Mac which I found to be quite user-friendly. I would probably buy one if money was no object, but the damned things are so expensive.
  8. The igG4 compound is an antibody, yes? The researchers note an increase in this antibody from 5% to 20%. Whether this change is permanent is unknown. Why is it assumed this spells disaster, when it may actually be a beneficial alteration to the immune system? It seems any headline with COVID-19 in the title can spark irrational responses from all the usual suspects.
  9. I am not sure what that has to do with a 30 second wait time between tabs on Windows 11 the poster was complaining about.
  10. Sorry to hear that. Work on the rehab, but don't push too hard. Important point you made about the full face helmet. It baffles me why anyone would get on a bike without one. Looking forward to some indication of your next bonk, then we will know you are well on the road to recovery.
  11. I am probably tucked up in bed well before ladyboys go on the prowl for victims or clients. You are wise to cease walking there, about one-third of regular marijuana users become psychotic. It's not a good combination with the fragile mental state ladyboys are in.
  12. No idea, perhaps you would be kind enough to enlighten me.
  13. Please explain why that should make any difference for the function described.
  14. A former boss of mine once said if a human has to wait for a computer, the software was written by fools. Opening a new tab or closing a redundant one in Linux/Firefox is a function of how fast I can move and click with a trackpad or mouse.
  15. I can't remember anything you posted that was not relentlessly negative.
  16. Can't you read? Sequential accounts are not multiple.
  17. I don't know about prettier. They would not have the cockleburrs and bindis of Aussie sheep, presumably less painful.
  18. My Scottish ancestry would be apoplectic. I have stayed in Hilton's on the company dime. Oddly enough, I did stay at a hotel in Udon Thani, 1100 baht in low season. IMO it was as good as any Hilton.
  19. FYI, there is a world patent with my name on it. I have published multiple papers in the fields of corrosion science, ion chromatography, and surfactant analysis. I have been a lead speaker at several scientific conferences. Feel free to keep making dumb assumptions about me.Your attempts at denigration are pathetic. I can't be bothered responding to the rest of your drivel, IMO you are senile.
  20. Currently paying 650 baht/night for a comfortable room close to Walking Street in Pattaya. Not that I find a big flesh market all that stimulating at my age. I don't believe in wasting money unnecessarily, but I suppose there will always be pretentious types who somehow think extravagance validates their existence. I did stay at a Sheraton in New York once on the company dime, $450 a night for a room much less clean than the one I am in now. My GF is enjoying herself too.
  21. My father worked for 40 years in a job he hated. It made me determined to work in something I enjoyed, and I did. If I could, I would still be working, albeit part-time. Corporations are dumb when they pass on years of experience, after investing in it.
  22. Exactly. There is a 23 year age difference between myself and my GF. I have no doubt at all she chose me for financial support. The love, trust and mutual consideration came later.
  23. I don't accept Bing as an authority over that of a sheep farmer. Although possibly he was pulling my leg.
  24. Enjoy it while you can, because that's all there is.
