  2. My mistake, I thought the subject was vaccinations. Which one of my posts has a political reference?
  3. I can see my post went straight through to the wicket-keeper. Looks like I am living rent-free in your head.
  4. I just wish there was a vaccine that made people smarter, then Darwinian selection would really take off.
  5. I thought we were clubbing together to get you a Fender Stratocaster. I want my money back.
  6. I understand Dr, Stillwagon was predicting a major airline catastrophe, caused by aircraft staff having compulsory vaccinations. Airline safety continues to improve, except in Russia. I also understand during the height of the COVID pandemic, unvaccinated COVID patients were 6-7 times more likely to need ICU admission than vaccinated patients. Ho-hum, another anti-vaxxer thread. It reminds me of Einstein's comment about the Universe and human stupidity.
  7. There are 7 companies currently producing biodegradable plastics, mostly based on polylactic acid. Correctly applied, taxes on non-biodegradable plastics should be used to clean up the mess they make. It's a matter of political will and absence of corruption to achieve that result. Our current economic models are flawed, when have you seen one that takes account of environmental costs? I have worked for a range of companies. They had one common factor - they all cheated when it came to their environmental licences.
  8. Back on topic, there are some people here damaged by their childhood. Any psychiatrist will tell you there is a strong correlation between childhood abuse, and the development of sociopathic/psychopathic tendencies. It's a testament to the human spirit that posters here have fought their way back to normality. Winners.
  9. Alcohol does remove inhibitions.
  10. IMO the answers could lie in taxation, and consensus. Plastic waste has been found at the bottom of the Marianas Trench. Microplastics are in our bodies. Subsidize and incentivize biodegradable plastics, every step of the way. Tax the daylights out of any plastic which is not biodegradable. The Montreal Protocol of 1987 was agreed on by most nations, to eliminate the use of ozone-depleting chemicals, which were destroying the ozone layer. Its success can be measured by the fact the ozone layer is slowly recovering to pre-1980 levels. Consensus on limiting the use of fossil fuels is a much more difficult task, due to a rearguard action by fossil fuel companies. Like plastics, taxation may be the answer. Nations that drag their heels get left behind. I don't have a problem with people getting rich. When it is at a cost to the environment, it is time to say whoa.
  11. Nobody comes into my GF's house without calling first, or into my condo without knocking. It may be too late for the OP to set boundaries, unless he starts locking doors.
  12. What are the issues the booze is addressing? I have been off booze for about 18 months now. The half hour buzz I was getting was not worth waking up 4-5 times in the night to pee. I use a judicious mix of Losartan ( blood pressure ) amitryptiline, codiphen ( sleep ) and tramadol ( back pain ). They are not taken daily, but on a staggered basis for quality of life. Serious question: When anyone drinks, they are imbibing 100 - 200 mL of a Class 1 carcinogen. Which do you think is more harmful, that or 5-50 mg of a medication? Apologies for going off topic.
  13. I am wondering why the alleged winners of the US election are so bitter and twisted. Any alien from outer space would think they had lost.
  14. Another SOS for my ignore list. Bye bye.
  15. It was your second post, not the first, when you said you liked my fictional story. I don't do fiction.
  16. IIRC you started this with a smart@rse comment. You think I care if you don't believe me?
  17. IMO there's a difference between old money and new money. Old money has good manners. New money tends to treat anyone they consider below them like dirt. I saw that at the college, and also at a high-end golf club where I was a member.
  18. My father taught me to stay out of debt. A valuable lesson which has served me well for all my life. My childhood was happy, until I won a scholarship to a prestigious college, at secondary level. There, I learned kids from privileged backgrounds could be total @rseholes. It was a poisoned chalice, although I did have some very good teachers. The combination of being a "brain" and socially inept made me a target. I only started to gain self-confidence when I left home to work in a remote part of Australia, and had to fend for myself.
  19. 5 pars and 5 bogeys. Greens were heavy with dew, very slow. A bit like you.
  20. Is Patricia Routledge a relation of yours?
  21. Certainly has. The Liberal Party in Australia is about as conservative as it can get, although short of America's Republicans.
  22. Finishing my breakfast, preparatory to heading off to golf. You do have me wondering what time zone you are in, given it is 7 am.
  23. Bullsh!t. It was orchestrated by Stalin, to quash Ukrainian nationalists. Watch out, comrade. Ukrainian drones are everywhere nowadays.
  24. My post before was not relevant? Your opinion, we all know what they say about opinions. I am not interested in how many posts I make, it just happens. Perhaps I should cut down on my responses to snipers from the peanut gallery.
