Nobody is saying get down to zero carbon dioxide. What the science says is we had better stop increasing CO2 by burning fossil fuels, otherwise we are going to get considerable climate change insurance companies won't be able to cover. Insurance premiums are rising rapidly. The premium for insurance of my son's house in Australia last year was $1900, this year it is $3500. Some beachfront properties in Australia and the US are now uninsurable.

I would not say 7 degrees C hotter on average is similar to today. Nor would I completely ignore other effects, such as the blocking of polar ocean currents by the supercontinent Gondwana, or the dust levels in the atmosphere. You have heard of nuclear winter, right? It's quite typical of climate deniers to cherry-pick data to suit their argument, so no surprise here. What does surprise me is the fact you have training in science, and reject it.

IIRC, the average load of the smaller trucks is 2 cubic metres.

If that is what you want to believe, up to you. The facts contradict you. The carbon dioxide produced in making and operating an electric vehicle with a 400 mile operating range exceed a comparable ICE, it's only EV's with a much shorter range and less weight of battery to carry around that are better. I'm too old to worry about global warming and climate change, I'll be gone before the models become reality. Having said that, I do prefer facts and data over beliefs. Perhaps Herr Putin will make the discussion academic by giving us all a nuclear winter.

LOL, you think you are doing something? The EV you are presumably driving - you think that has a lower environmental cost than an ICE? Those batteries filled with toxic materials - do they just evaporate when they go flat? What is the full life cycle cost of a solar panel, when the subsidies are taken out? Geez, some people enjoy kidding themselves.

Given Thailand is operating and commissioning new plant at Mae Moh, permit me to doubt the renewables in Thailand are anything but window dressing. Mae Moh is possibly one of the dirtiest power generators on the planet, because it is fueled with lignite, the lowest form of coal. The electricity coming from Mae Moh does not know or care when it recharges the EV's their owners are so proud of, because they are saving the planet. Yeah right.

I don't forget the fact carbon dioxide has risen from 300 ppm to more than 400 ppm since the start of the Industrial age, and is still trending up. I also don't forget the fact carbon dioxide traps the sun's radiation, the so-called greenhouse gas effect. Check out the planet Venus to see where that goes. How many posters have any formal training in thermodynamics? Without that, the chances of understanding global warming and climate change are SFA.

Phitsanulok or Uttaradit would probably be suitable for rest stops. Plenty of hotels in both. The only criteria I have is clean, big bed, and working aircon at 500 - 700 baht per night. I always ask to see the room first. For breakfast, I head to the biggest hotels, where they will usually have a buffet for walkins.

I'm in a country where they can't even pronounce woke, let alone know what it means. If I ever get back to Oz, I'll just keep my mouth shut until I land back here.

Saw a Thai guy on something similar to this on a footpath in Chiang Rai. Although who would shell out 30K baht on something this flimsy?

I'm not sure what the uproar is about, I'd say the virtuous condemnation ends when a critic of the Khashoggi murder is filling their car with gas refined from Saudi oil, or America sells advanced weaponry to the Saudis. IMO golfers should be able to earn where they can, they don't have the security of knowing they will be in the same job for forty odd years. Some only last on the PGA tour for a few years. It's not as if the LIV tour is memorable in any way. The Saudi money and their golf courses will be gone in 20-30 years, when renewables replace virtually all fossil fuel production in the energy sector.

What makes you think Trump is a billionaire? He is in hock to the Russians and Deutsche Bank, by the time he pays the lawyers he will be skint. They certainly will be demanding payment up front, given his track record of dudding people. As for a wife 20+ years younger, my GF is 23 years younger than me, and I daresay not as high maintenance as Melania. Assuming they are even getting it on.

Why are there so many haters on this site?

I am wondering what is wrong with me. I get more enjoyment out of talking to Thai women than I do talking to foreign men. -
I played on oiled sand greens for six years in Port Hedland and other Pilbara townships, quite slow but very true. If I had more than 26 putts for a round, I was having a bad day with the putter. I'm usually teeing off at 6.30 am, the mayor would probably just be getting out of bed. Don't play afternoon golf, too hot.
-
Same with my course. I pay 50 baht for nine holes, 120 baht caddie fee. More expensive if I was not a member. IMO Thai golfers are quite stingy, I have yet to see one give more than the minimum tip. The greens would be reasonable if they left them alone, although I suspect several have far too much root mat.
-
Sanded greens are about as true as a politician's promise. Sometimes, I just pick up my ball after reaching the green. I can't be bothered wasting my time putting out. If the sanded green is played when the morning dew is still around, no doubt you have seen how the ball accumulates sand as it rolls.
-
Probably not, due to a lack of knowledge of greenkeeping. Every greenkeeper in Australia would know what a coring machine is, and why it is used.
-
It's a matter of knowing why they are doing it this way. Claude Crockford, the legendary Royal Melbourne greenkeeper, would core the living daylights out of a green he thought had developed too much root mat, and hence was not draining properly. No-one ever produced greens as true as his. Fast to the point of insanity on a stimpmeter, but if one hit the ball on the right line, it would go in. He famously remarked to Ben Crenshaw " You guys in America want to grow grass, we are trying to stop it."
