My wife of 45 years died this year and my dog a year before that. I'm not interested in rebuilding a different life. Death holds no fear.

Sad that someone of 'your age' doesn't know that Facebook is actually best accessed on a PC or laptop. Also trying to use Lazada, Shopee et al on a mobile phone is simply a disaster. Grow up.

I was stabbed when young stopping an old man being mugged. The blade nicked my aorta, almost died on the operating table. I'd do it again but incapacitated the attacker before they brought out a weapon. Also stopped a big guy abusing a shop girl once. I threatened to lock the shop door until police came. I don't understand people who put themselves first, unless it's obviously a totally lost situation, then I can understand hanging back.

Chinese Tourist Arrivals Plunged Nearly 30% Week Over Week
Speedhump replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Chinese tourism always does worldwide this whenever there's a bad news item. They seem a scared people, I guess because they're very insular. Maybe like Thais? -
Thailand’s firearm frenzy: Tops ASEAN in guns, 13th in global tragedy

Excuse me, but we are talking about laissez-faire, highly regulated but loosely controlled Thailand (which I love, by the way) -
Miraculous Escape: Truck’s Detached Wheel Causes Havoc
Speedhump replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
A wheel came off my car at 2 am once in South London while driving home wearing black tie after a dinner event. It rolled to a bus stop where a lone man who was waiting for a night bus stopped it. I went up to retrieve it and the only thing he said was 'are you James Bond?'. -
Palm Sugar: Thailand’s More Delicious Alternative to Refined Sugar
Speedhump replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I wonder how it tastes in English breakfast tea? I don't really drink tea now, but take a very small amount of caramel syrup in my morning triple espresso instead of brown sugar. I know it's empty calories, but it's a tiny amount. 555 -
Palm Sugar: Thailand’s More Delicious Alternative to Refined Sugar
Speedhump replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think as brown sugar has more natural taste you'll maybe use less of it. Also I don't know how many calories per gramme in white vs. brown. -
Snarky, but whatever. Nevertheless most waitresses would not even work for that money, even in a job where they get regular good tips from farang customers.

Living a moderate lifestyle (no golf club, beer only, no bar girls, inpatient only inpatient health insurance, car 7 years old) I still need 70k a month income. I'm surprised that 65k monthly income is considered a bad option. A little money each month needs to be set aside for house repairs, car repairs, doctor, occasional need to buy new electric appliances, etc, these all add to living expenses. If a one room cheap Charlie, maybe I'd be lookin at lower outgoings. It proves that these indiscriminate questions are pointless I guess.

'Don't send your children to school for a while, there's a water shortage'. I know what my answer would be. Also farmers need more protection, not less. Climate change will make this worse year on year, and alternative crops need investment or involve use of harmful pesticides. Farmers who are unable to change become tenants, and the cycle of poverty continues. The old king understood this.

A restaurant owner friend (free condiments) I know has heart palpitations when customers use a lot of HP sauce in his places because of the cost to him. ???? He won't charge though, we've talked before. Another busy place I eat at on Sundays has plastic squeezy bottles of mint sauce in their condiments tray to use freely with roast English lunch. As I like lashings of it, it's appreciated and is a reason for me to favour them over other places also serving good food. I would look for other places if a 2 or 3 star restaurant started to make a small charge charge for 'a condiment usually expected' with any particular meal, and it's purely out principle, to prevent it becoming the norm.

I have found Thais in their 20s educated for 2-3 years abroad are more comfortable in their own skin and are more confident in general. How their countrymen find them is a story which I can't answer. Being educated for some time in a western country under western values (which do still exist to an extent) is obviously a given as far as broadening the mind and instilling an understanding of pushing horizons. Thai fatalism, or call it just being happy with your current position, is a hindrance to advancement. I know a young Thai/Brit studying to become a doctor in Bangkok and she will probably travel to Europe for specialisation.

Maybe not. During a recent holiday my daughter told me that at 66 years old I've stopped snoring, even when tired and after alcohol. A hotel twin bed overnight stay each way there and back. Also my kids told me I wasn't snoring earlier this year while snoozing on the sofa. Maybe your airways will stay clear. I lost my wife in April so I can't verify. ????

For me Macro is a very bad example. The one I use have actually chained off the disabled spaces near the entrance as they erected a small table with a picture of the new king behind it and I presume they think it's disrespectful to have his portrait covered by exhaust fumes. Not my opinion, of course.

Is it okay to walk naked chest in the streets?
Speedhump replied to Goodboybkk's topic in General Topics
I've gone commando for many many years and can assure you that the wife would occasionally say 'you can't wear those shorts outside', even a couple of quite loose pairs. Maybe I'm just a little more blessed in the gentleman's, sausage department than you? ???? -
Is it okay to walk naked chest in the streets?
Speedhump replied to Goodboybkk's topic in General Topics
It's horrible, please do not lower the tone. Beach or pool only (or a road actually alongside the beach), and definitely not at a table where you're eating. Manners cost nothing. I saw a Chinese once wandering the fresh food counters of Lotus topless, the staff didn't seem to give a sh.t. I gave him a couple of mouthfuls and the fatty covered up. Don't let me catch you! -

Most farang who buy a house spend at least that. You consider them silly. Your opinion.
