My Visa renewal is due July 3 2018. I just received my new passport. Not enough time between now and July 3 to

get appointment at US Consulate for income letter and back to Udoni Thani. Majority of money is in US bank and 

showing Thai bank account doesn’t have required funds. 

Please look at attached and advise vise if I can extend or if not go to Immigration and explain?

Have similar situation not into Thailandbut into US. Sharing picture only

for reference not trying to promote it. Maybe there is something similar for when entering Thailand? Perhaps APEC. 

I’m a US citizen born and raised. Lived in APAC 12 last12 years. Traveled to US 2-4 times a year. Last two years every time I went 

through US Customs got asked 20 questions and pulled over to side. 

Flew through Chicago last two times which has automated system for US Citizens for quick and easy entry. Two times got the big “X”. Second time caused me to miss a meeting. 

I asked the officers what is the problem with stopped every time? He said name is same as wanted fugitive. Ok how do I get off this list? He gave me the Global Entry information and said it’s less expensive and easier than lawyer etc.. and takes me off the list. 

I did not purchase only because I’m pretty much retired and haven’t been to US for two years. Only meeting these days is to eat.

Hopefully there isn’t something similar for Thailand.

Recently traveling with wife to Singapore she got pulled in for an hour for questioning...... next time maybe she will listen when I tell her you

shouldn’t dress like that....... another story for another time.

Make sure to get International license if possible. I’ve been asked a few times prior to getting Thai DL. But never asked to show it.

I use pocket WiFi 500 baht a month. I get @ 50 emails a day.

- You’ve friends and can meet people that would satisfy your intellectual needs......  

- have you asked her if you intelligence is bothersome to her? 

- ask yourself can you balance it and be happy....

No.  One was at Udon Thani

I had to go to the Police Station in town 20 km away. Only because I wasn’t home when the check. A smaller office behind the main building.

They all 6 or 7 had plain clothes on but sports shirts had KOAP or similar. Papa went with me and the Police English was difficult but 

we got through it. 

They asked for passport which I had sent to Bangkok for renewal so gave them Thai DL. Should paperwork that I sent and it worke out.

Took picture of me. Checked my height. Ask if Tattoo? Yes and they checked. 

All good but and I’m sure they have reason as suggest in the post. 

I live in village in Northeast. Today police came by I wasn’t home. I’m advised tomorrow I need to go the Police station. 

They police will take pictures of me and I need to provide wher I live. 

Is this New? Isn’t and overkill as Immigration has all the information also 90 day check ins as required .

Reminded me crossing the border from Mexico to US with my Mexican friend who is US citizen, born and raised in US.  But has thick accent and uses slang a lot. Tell him pay attention what you say. Border patrol

Ask me questions OK and you sir. Sounds like ola esa, asked if US Citizen. Yes. Where you coming from. Points over their and points going over there. Pulled us in for car search etc.. no problems

ridiculous. But maybe I got taken. Wouldn’t buy used again. Suspect

the cars at dealer may have been mostly repo. Cars from bank or other lender.

if you’ve lots of money or average income it wouldn’t hurt to give her some money. She I sent staying with you and probably helps cleaning etc. 

I’m not saying pay her as in a maid. Pay her for no reason at all but that

she s good company and you like her. 

3,000 baht a month equivalent to $80 USD. If you’re being taken for a ride it’s very inexpensive one. 

If you like her see how it goes always keeping eyes and ears open. Maybe you be fortunate..... If you serious you’d beat slow down on the 

nightly drinking.

Had a pool person in US only thing I had to worry about was beer supply and what trunks to wear that day. 

Udon Thani yesterday 90 day check in. Two people there mid afternoon. Good staff always happy to help!

I will say one thing I am so glad to be done with this visa nightmare and get out of here. Maybe China will finish taking over one day and finally upgrade them into the 21st century.

Was asked by IO where the departure card was in his passport. He said wasn’t given one when he arrived. He was told to sit down and wait. Don’t know what the outcome as I was finished. 

Guys why do several posts turn into a pissing match?  The poster simply asked  a question. Yes there may be comments that someone doesn't agree with...that’s life. 

This yap started from comment basically surprised to see the desire to work. It’s known that many prefer not to work.

I hear it everyday someone saying no money for food or asking for 20 - 40 baht  which basically sums up as hand out. 

It’s not only here I’ve seen it in my home country (U..S.) and with one of my two children when in thier twenties.  

The World changes everyday. The desire of people to work in our generation (born in 50’s) is not the same as young people of working age today. 

Our generation had more with desire to work. Those that didn’t 

want to work were incentivized in our case work or get out. The 

option to work was far less expensive than getting out. 

When reading post take it in stride and realize opinions are a persons view. 

If you really feel a need to take a piss at an individual use the message option. Save others from getting frustrated with forum in general.

If my younger in-laws in the village of work age and sound body looked or even thought of work. I’d be surprised, shocked and maybe have a block party.  (Block party not expected anytime soon)
