OP wishing you a speedy recovery. You had a verbal agreement
the outcome is fair for both parties.

It’s unfortunate for the OP and some useful information for others.
It could’ve been they didn’t know what a “Cashiers Check” is.
I carried Cashier Checks long ago when I first traveled in Asia on business and a lot of places/countries were puzzled. Not the easiest to cash.
I do think the IO has the authority to decline entry if something feels suspicious. US Immigration same free reigns if they perceive
a potential problem. It’s their job responsibility.

Why not apply for the right visa and just work legally ?
Might not meet the qualifications. In China they’d hire English Teachers for the private schools just because the person could
speak English kinda sorta.
I knew one retired US didn’t finish High School and no formal training as a teacher.....teaching English to younger students.
He rented an apartment we owned in China. Got a call he can’t walk. Myself and a mutual friend carried to the car and to hospital.
Had a drinking problem.. cleaning up the apartment to rent. Washing machine full of Chines rice whisky...
China had to put the squeeze on it..

My Daughter in law work for division of the Humane Society which try’s to find a home for dogs. I asked her what do they do when a dog gets aggressive. She said spraying with water usually they calm down.
We live in countryside just outside a village. In the daytime very rarely dogs bark at you. When it gets dark it’s a whole different story.
Riding the moto to see friends or family in village at night Dogs barking and chasing you like their out of control. I can ride my wife’s moto a Qbit and not get chased on any of the other three
bikes the chase is on.
It scary I’ll admit...

There is so much to do in Bangkok.... its a great city to live in.
Could it be improved, absolutely... it could do with lots more, more parks, better public transport, better roads etc.
But for restaurants, getting around cheaply, activities for adults and kids, it's difficult to beat...
Excellent post great to see positive and realistic post first thing
in the morning....

I know a guy with a Ford Ranger tricked out lifeted, big tires etc. Decals or wrap with what looks like mud on the sides, it looks great. The first time I saw it parked on street I said that has to be a foreigner.
Met up with later at a bar he’s owns. He said he went to renew registration and they wouldn’t do it because in their estimation it was X percent over the allowed percentage.
Another had his mazda wrapped matte black and Cha ged runs. Went to register he had to pay a fine for wrap and was told he had
to put the original rims back on.. which the shop kept and no longer had.. didn’t hear the outcome

OP is you can get in contact with her or through your agent. Say look we got off to bad start. Find out ehat she thinks your or she responsible for and try to smooth it out.
If it’s something costly get her involved if not drop a few bucks and
it’s easier. You ask someone to take a look at whatever get an estimate if not much out of pocket then no issue.
We had our AC unit wall mount with outside unit. Moved from our 1 room attached toilet toilet and shower wood thingy... cabin of sorts. When house was complete we had the AC moved ,cleaned, mounted, electrical, on its on breaker etc, They charged 800 baht
and completely dismantled the AC and cleaned it.
So some things are a lot less expensive than in the states. If there’s no way to have a working relationship with the landlord maybe you should look at another place. It sometimes a headache but these things happen.
Best of luck and and hope all gets sorted out...when I first moved to Asia 15+ years ago boy I was hot head even in the US when things didn’t go my way or how I perceived them to go....
I’ve learned to have a lot more patience ay even that’s because I’m creeping up on old age...

The thing is you never know how bad off the person in the ambulance is. They could be dying. Pull to the side and stop if you can.. turn emergency blinkers. Be considerate....
i know we’re in Thailand and shouldn’t compare with USA laws don’t apply but in this case Maybe they should apply the same.
California law
Drivers must remain stopped until the emergency vehicle passes. A driver that does not yield must pay a fine of $490.00. A driver that violates this section will also receive one point on his DMV driving record.

Born in Florida lived in Los Angeles but guess I wasn’t paying attention to Nationalities much people were people. Difficult to
generalize one shoe fits all. People with inner drive to succeed
typically do.

Waves, Finos, Clicks etc that working class families buy, many on minimum deposit, maximum finance
The interest they charge is ridiculous. I’ve bought 6 new motos
5 which I paid cash. Last one wife wanted to trade up and I said
Ok then you pay monthly.
Had the cash but wanted to try to teach responsibility of making payments and in time. After a year I decided pay it off .... and <deleted>!
i was under the impression that interest fees were reasonable...
not the case.
Adding fees as Guzzi said it’s going to be an additional burden to working people who have limited funds...
