I think getting a visa or extension of stay whereby you have to go through 14 stages in a marriage extension and make trips to the bank, to a passport photo shop, to the Amphur for a new Kor Ror 22 and finally taking two copies of everything to Immigration, and dragging my wife along to sign 50+ sheets of paper every year is more than enough to prove my status.

same here, I was in the UK for a visa 5 years or so ago, and went into a HSBC branch in Cardiff to get the money for visa and you wouldn't believe how difficult it was. I did get the money but only by the skin of my teeth. So much security nonsense.

I totally forgot about the cheap international calls, for Dtac is 00400 at 6 or 7 baht a minute, so that will make a huge difference. At the time I so distraught over this HSBC mess I wasn't thinking right. Just threw a couple of 500's on the phone and dialled.

Why would your UK bank need to task HSBC to transfer, why can't they do it directly to your Thai Bank?

In one question in a Mensa test they speak 6 numbers that you then have to recall backwards. I could always do that, but 7 or more numbers forwards or backwards I think I would struggle.
