Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism
Jaxxper replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If the passenger felt that they needed to complain, they should have done so on a more private forum…personal letter to Thai Airways maybe, and not on a public forum. I guess the frustration of the deviation was too much for them. When we travel by any means we put our faith in the vehicle operators and their experience, training and procedures. If the plane had continued to the original destination and met with an incident I’m sure there would have been more complaints. The reaction to sue the passenger I do think is OTT too. Not a good popularity builder for an airline trying to recover its business position. Just my view. -
You need to have a will for each jurisdiction in which you have assets.

Last time when my Thai wife and I came through, the Marshalls encouraged me to go through the Thai lines.

Foreign man refuses to pay fare and bites Bolt driver in Pattaya
Jaxxper replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
How ever this situation built up to this, people need to recognise that in General Bolt provide a great service at a very low price. If assaults on drivers continue either the rates will go up or there will be less drivers or possibly both. Hope the driver is ok. Don’t know what people are thinking. -
Thai tourism revolution: Duty-free ditch and booze bonanza
Jaxxper replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So, I’ll just buy mine at Heathrow. No revenue taxed or otherwise for Thailand. !! -
People can guess, but that’s all it will be, a guess. I wouldn’t worry about it until next year, or whenever there are firm guidelines established by the Thai revenue people. Just remember every bodies situation is different.

typical retiree (foreign home) situation
Jaxxper replied to jaxon's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
My plan was to keep a property in my home country. Lots of benefits that outweigh the negatives, for someone who has emigrated and wants to keep a foothold in their home country. I don’t think burning bridges is a savvy plan. Just my thoughts, but I’m sure many will have an opposite view. -
We put up lights, but they are really for the new year.

The Pattaya City Expat club web site has an area where some assisted living places have been listed.( I think with pricing schedules also). It’s worth a visit to the site, just to see what’s available around the Pattaya area.

There is a warehouse type building at the back of Marina Mall/ Big C. They have oodles of crockery/cutlery/mugs/glasses etc all sold as singles. Worth a mooch around there.

So I would have thought that once the marriage is dissolved, so is the extension due to marriage. I Don't think immigration would pick it up, but technically I think you might be on overstay, which if it does come to their attention will cause you big problems, particularly if you want to return to Thailand.

doubt with a girl ( police blacklist )
Jaxxper replied to tontong7's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think it is highly unlikely that she will go to the police. This happened 4 months ago. Why not sooner? I think you’re ok. Just block her on social networks and telephone. She’ll soon get fed up and go and look for another potential victim, …..oh sorry, boyfriend. Hope it all turns out good. -
I believe you have to do it in person. I think that’s the regulations from all Thai banks. (In fact it’s apparently getting more onerous to open one even in person. Many banks are asking for a work permit or at least long term visa/ extensions so I understand). As an option could you send directly to him or his guardian ? Just a thought .

What UK Visa For Thai GF?
Jaxxper replied to Jimmy B's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
The UK visa process is quite simple. The key thing is to be very transparent on the application. It’s an on line application that needs a visit by the applicants to BKK for bio data ( not sure about the 3 year old). The online application gives you the option to pre load the support documentation, and as I say the key is being totally honest. What they will be looking for is evidence that your GF will return to Thailand. Good luck with your application. I think you can apply up-to 3 months in advance of the planned trip. -
Don’t go on a Monday or Friday or right after a public holiday. I got one a few weeks back mid week and the process from arriving to leaving with the stamp was about 20 minutes. About 1:30 seems to be a good time to arrive.

Yellow Tabien Baan, need 2 witnesses?
Jaxxper replied to zhounan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Some years ago in Pattaya, there was my wife and our next door neighbour. That did the trick. No witnesses required for the pink ID card from memory. I’d check with the Amphur just to make sure the rules haven't changed. Bit off topic, but I find the card useful for hotel check ins, and the book for immigration. good luck with your application. -
Proof of BT800,000 not been removed
Jaxxper replied to Gandtee's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I deal with Jomtien, and they don’t care who takes the papers they require down to them. They don’t want a bank statement, just copies from your bank book going back three months with the account book front page showing account details, and the relevant copies from your passport of last extension applied for etc etc. who ever goes, take the originals with you. It’s a really quick process. -
Got my yellow book and ID card today
Jaxxper replied to stubuzz's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I find it useful to keep the ID card in my wallet for Hotels, Post Office, Hospital etc. Sometimes get the Thai rate for entrance to some places. Worth having, definitely. -
Suvarnabhumi immigration when with Thai spouse

If it's obvious you are travelling together the people directing the traffic normally direct you both to the Thai immigration desks. -
Where can you find a 5k-per-month condominium in Bangkok?
Jaxxper replied to Goodboybkk's topic in Bangkok
Look near the universities. Plenty of condos for rent in those areas. Mostly student tenants though. -
We used EVA from BKK to LHR return, back end of last year. Don’t recall what aircraft it was, but it was comfortable and the level of service was OK. Only issue was having to wear a face mask during the flight but that I understand was a Taiwanese rule, that the airlines had to comply with.
