  1. I would suggest a new Toyota Yaris Cross, mine was delivered from the placing order in 10 days. Toyota, possibly the most reliable, best dealer support and resale price in Thailand. 2. I googled and evidence suggests otherwise: 'People with high education are less likely than people with low education to believe in conspiracy theories'. 'Trump said, “I love the poorly educated.” The poorly educated love conservatives. In 2020, Trump won 56% of high school-educated voters and dropouts; Biden won 56% of college-educated voters and 67% of post-graduate voters'. 3. I recently hailed a cab whose driver employed the old 'accelerator-brake-accelerator repeat' methodology to save fuel, a technique I haven't encountered here in 20 years.

  6. Thanks to everyone for the replies. I contacted Bangkok Bank HQ, and they confirmed that any updates over three months old, whether from an ATM or branch, will be summarized. Then, I called the branch. According to them, any statement with more than 30 transactions will be summarized—and I’ve done 60.😞 Next, I reached out to Immigration (TM), and they clarified that the bank statement will support the bank book. Here's their process: One week before applying, request a 12-month statement from the bank. On the day of the application, visit Immigration (TM) in the morning to check the application. If everything’s in order, head to the bank to get the bank letter and statement, then return to Immigration for the extension. I asked why the back-and-forth between Immigration and the bank, and they said it was to save on the bank statement fee if they reject it. 😞
  7. I also need advice to prepare for my second Retirement Visa Extension. I’m getting things in order for my second retirement visa extension next June. I received my first extension in June, and I recently completed my first 90-day report. I plan to spend 400k of my 800k but will top it back up 2 months before my next extension application. My question is about my bank history—since I live 100km round trip from the only Bangkok Bank in my province (it’s in a busy market with no parking), I haven’t updated my bank book since getting my extension in June. Will this be an issue when I apply for my next extension next June? Also, my bank book in the past sometimes showed transaction summaries instead of individual ones. I know I can get a bank statement—will this be enough as proof? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  8. I've been using low-salt Vegemite, an Australian favorite, for my niacin needs for some time due to issues with vitamin B3 supplements. However, I've recently encountered supply problems, so I'm considering brewer's yeast tablets as my next option. Here is an AI analysis some might find interesting: Comparison of Brewer’s Yeast Tablets and B3 Supplements Brewer’s Yeast Tablets Benefits: Nutritional Profile: Rich in B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12), protein (about 40%), and minerals like chromium and selenium. Digestive Health: Acts as a probiotic, enhancing gut flora and nutrient absorption. Blood Sugar Regulation: Chromium can improve insulin sensitivity. Immune Support: Contains antioxidants that may boost immunity. Energy Boost: High B vitamin content supports energy production. Issues: Potential digestive discomfort (bloating, gas). Allergic reactions in those with yeast allergies. Possible interactions with diabetes medications. Limited scientific research compared to isolated supplements. B3 (Niacin or Niacinamide) Supplements Benefits: Skin Health: Improves skin elasticity, treats acne, and reduces hyperpigmentation. Cholesterol Management: Raises HDL ("good") cholesterol and lowers triglycerides. Energy Production: Crucial for converting food into energy. Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Reduces inflammation and oxidative stress. Nervous System Support: Important for brain function and mental health. Issues: Niacin may cause flushing (redness, itching) at high doses. Gastrointestinal distress (nausea, vomiting). Risk of liver toxicity at high doses. Potential interactions with cholesterol medications and blood thinners. Summary Brewer’s yeast offers a broader nutritional array, supporting overall health and digestion, while B3 supplements target skin health and cholesterol management. The choice between them should align with individual health needs, and consulting a healthcare professional is advisable for personalized guidance.
  9. During my 12 years at my previous job, my routine was to wake up at 6 am, drive 30 km to a 50m pool near my workplace, swim 20 to 25 laps, shower, and then grab a quick breakfast before starting work at 8:30 am. Now, as a retiree in Thailand, my schedule is to go to bed between 9:30 and 10 pm, wake up at 5 am for meditation, and then, weather permitting, take a 3 km walk at sunrise, which is around 6:10 am. This time is the golden hour for me, with minimal sun and the coolest temperatures of the day. Following this, at 7 am, I have breakfast, shower, perform some flexibility exercises, and get ready for the day. By avoiding alcohol and coffee, sticking to a fixed routine, and maintaining regular exercise, I find that I sleep well and thoroughly enjoy life after 75.
  10. The lack of logic and reasoning in your word salad suggests you have failed the 'white race'. Your argument contradicts the principles of objective, rational thinking associated with the Scientific Method, as evidenced by the following logical fallacies: Straw Man: You misrepresent the opposing view by exaggerating it. This is illogical because objective thinking requires an accurate representation of arguments to engage with them fairly and rationally. False Dichotomy: Claiming one culture is better than another oversimplifies a complex issue. This fallacy fails to acknowledge the cause-and-effect relationships that should be considered in a rational, evidence-based discussion. Hasty Generalization: Your broad claim lacks supporting evidence. In rational discourse, conclusions should be based on data and facts, reflecting the quantitative emphasis expected in logical reasoning. Red Herring: You’ve shifted focus from the original topic, disrupting the flow of linear, rational thinking necessary for coherent, productive discussion.
  11. But let’s be honest, the devilish temptations in Bangkok pale into insignificance compared to the corruption inflicted by the Kool-Aid that Trump apologists have been sipping for years.
  12. From my understanding, if you already have private health insurance and go overseas, you can suspend your payments for up to two years without affecting your Lifetime Health Cover status or incurring penalties—sometimes even longer, depending on the policy. 13. To qualify for the full Australian Age Pension, you must be an Australian resident and have lived in Australia for at least 35 years between the ages of 16 and 67. The Australian Working Life Residence (AWLR) requirement is based on the time spent as a resident, not on employment. Your individual circumstances, such as residing in Thailand for most of the year, may affect your eligibility for the full pension allowance after 6 months. If you spend 7-9 months in Thailand annually, it could impact your residency status for the Age Pension for portability as well. I suggest consulting with Centrelink to clarify your specific situation regarding Age Pension eligibility. Note: Some individuals may be confused by mixing concepts related to tax residency and Centrelink residency requirements. IMHO
  14. To qualify for the Australian Age Pension (OAP), you need to meet residency requirements, including living in Australia when applying and staying for two years after qualifying. During those two years, extended absences could delay pension portability. Once portable, spending up to 8 months overseas annually shouldn’t affect your eligibility, but being abroad for more than 6 months could reduce the pension amount based on your working-life residency in Australia. 15. When I was there some time ago there was quiet an expat group mainly consisting of youngish English schoolteachers. As it is illegal for anyone to teach/work, without a permit, perhaps one of those might be your best bet. Suggest you try here. NAKHON SI THAMMARAT EXPATS | Facebook
  16. There’s a contradiction in your argument. You mention that the Age Pension won’t be taxed due to the taxable threshold, but non-residents don’t benefit from a tax-free threshold. Being a non-resident and having a tax-free threshold are mutually exclusive. Non-residents are taxed at 32.5% on all Australian-sourced income, from the first dollar.
  17. Don't you find it repugnant that Trump has allegedly sexual assaulted twice as many women as Swift has had exes, that doesn't include three rapes, one his wife, the other a 50-year-old woman and another a 13-year-old girl?
  18. I would much prefer to pay my tax liability on the age pension in Thailand, where in my case it's approximately 7%, rather than face KH's prediction of an ATO 32.5% tax rate as a non-resident for tax purposes.
  19. I thought only Poms whinged about Australia.
  20. As a Commonwealth employee aren't you now not on a Defined Benefits Scheme making you ineligible for Aged Pension? Or possibly you have too many assets to qualify?

  23. Sounds like your 'mate' may be making multiple trips per year to avoid residency and taxation issues. I suggest Rent Assistance and the non-basic Supplement payments are generally only available to Australian residents living in Australia as these benefits are tied to long-term residency. Additionally, claiming these supplements while primarily living overseas could potentially raise questions about residency status, which might impact pension portability. It’s best to check with Services Australia for tailored advice.
  24. I actually had a declaration to sign posted to me, which was basically a questionnaire asking me about my stay in Thailand and my anticipated new life in Oz, family ties, accommodation etc.
  25. To qualify for Age Pension you must have been an Australian resident for a minimum of 10 years in total. Additionally, for at least 5 of these years, there should be no break in your residence. The 35-year rule for the Australian Age Pension refers to the Australian Working Life Residence (AWLR) requirement. To receive the full pension rate while living overseas, you must have been an Australian resident for at least 35 years between the ages of 16 and pension age. However, it's important to clarify that this does not require you to have been working during those 35 years; it only requires that you were physically present in Australia as a resident during that time. If you have fewer than 35 years of AWLR, your pension rate is proportional to the time you spent as an Australian resident during your working life. For example, if you were a resident for 20 years, you would receive about 20/35ths of the full pension rate if living overseas. Residence rules for Age Pension - Age Pension - Services Australia
