  1. You (or your Mrs) would have to contact True to renew your contract (as you state). Otherwise your service would continue upon an 'out of contract' basis. In U.K. I was advised to always remain within contract which has two benefits; 1) As a 'new' customer you benefit by the introductory discounts e.g. a free month or half-price for 3 months etc. 2) Your router would be replaced free of charge if it fails.
  2. I can understand why you are aggrieved. You could ask them to provide a breakdown of how they arrive at the amount they claim is due from you? It could be that they didn't disconnect your service until later? As you gave sufficient notice that would be their problem and they shouldn't be requesting further payment.
  3. That is a good question! The OP could try arguing that True had broken their contract by failing to provide a reliable service?
  4. Sounds like True is billing you proportionately up to the date they disconnected your service instead of the date you ceased using it. That would be normal. It's also normal for them to request return of their (your) router, power supply plug and yellow cable. We had the same issue of regular disconnections with 3BB Broadband. Engineers visited several times without improvement and finally we gave notice and switched provider. Up to you whether you pay everything they demand. To clear your conscience you could try posting the equipment back to them?
  5. I never said it was a source of fact. Just the opposite. Where on earth he got the 2,000 baht fine from is baffling!
  6. This writer seems very sure. How he knows is the question? 2,000 baht fine for not carrying your passport with you thickens the plot! https://thailandtravelessentials.com/do-you-need-to-carry-a-passport-in-thailand/
  7. My amphur requires two conditions to be fulfilled before they will entertain issuing a yellow book/pink ID card; 1) Resident minimum 12 months 2) Married. I don't have a Thai driving licence because I choose not to drive/ride. However, it would be useful ID if not carrying passport.
  8. Always carry my 'man bag' everywhere. Contains my passport, birth cerificate, medical card etc. In fact, far too much.
  9. I use Browsec (browser extension). It's totally free and unblocks geo-blocked websites such as my U.K. water bill. It is speed restricted so no use for streaming however.
  10. We have; Yamaha Fino, Honda Wave, Honda Scoopy, Honda Click and latterly Yamaha XMAX. No complaints with any. Mainly used for very short local journeys though.
  11. Pleased that you've accomplished what you wanted to do! Thanks for letting us know. If you ever find the reason I'm sure everyone would be interested in case it happens to them?
  12. Good suggestions above! I've tried Google Chrome browser using Linux Mint. Works normally.
  13. I used FlashPeak Slimjet browser (similar to Google Chrome) on Windows 7. Should be OK for you using Google Chrome.
  14. Just tried now, functional as normal using iPhone 8 Plus (Mobile App) and Windows 7 (web) on my laptop.
  15. Agree! Only last week Mrs and myself were in Phuket and hired a 125cc Honda Click. I'm around 100kg & the Mrs is around 80kg. I suppose that's overloaded but there still seemed enough power up the hills. Of more concern was the amount of traffic and, even worse, pedestrians crossing the roads without looking first.
  16. Stepson's marriage was only recently (12 November 2022). I paid for approx. £6,000 GBP worth of gold. I haven't been asked for any money for this purpose up to now.
  17. My Thai (step) daughter-in-law (an only child) previously lived with her maternal grandparents. She has no father. Her mother (also an only child) borrowed 200,000 baht against her parents house without their knowledge. Mother didn’t repay her loan. Mother now disappeared/incommunicado. I assume the choice was either report their daughter to the police for fraud or repay her loan themselves? My daughter-in-law has repaid her mother’s loan. Yesterday, Mrs took daughter-in-law and her grandparents together with a friend to their amphur where daughter-in-law made a will witnessed by my Mrs and her friend. I understand this was necessary because as my daughter-in-law now ‘owns’ her grandparents house she needs to ensure that, should she die first, her grandparents have somewhere to live. Anyone with knowledge of such scenarios in Thailand?
  18. Incredible! Good job they didn't request mine. Father left home in 1971 and died 25 years ago. How could I produce his (assuming he ever had one)?
  19. There will never be any shortage of poor people prepared to take risks.
  20. I was asked to explain why someone else who has a Yellow Book wasn't asked for it (maybe didn't have it with them, offer it or wish to show it)? Difficult to answer that. My wife was previously asked to sign her photocopies in front of the IO. Now that is no longer necessary. She may no longer need to close her shop for a half-day if her presence is no longer required?
  21. Wow! After a trip to the Embassy and MOFA, finding fault with the transcription (performed by a Thai) must rank as just about the pinnacle of awkwardness. My Amphur delighted in telling me to go through this same process again when they already held the same documents obtained recently for marriage. At my last Retirement Extension application in October 2022 the IO requested photocopies of all TM28's/TM30's stapled inside my passport, something they had not done previously. I fail to see the importance of the historical ones but I didn't argue!
  22. Until I was issued with my Yellow Book/Pink ID Card immigration asked for photocopies of my Thai wife's Blue House Book and her ID card. Now, they accept a photocopy of my Yellow House Book.
  23. Totally agree! Took me 4 years to get my Yellow Book and Pink ID card. Only then by chance. Managed very well until then. Only used for Retirement Extensions.
  24. An incredibly tedious and frustrating application. Flinging your wife's mobile back at her is totally out of order too. The only things I can think of are to either; a) Ask a Visa Agent if they can assist (there will be a fee to pay of course). b) Register yourself at a friend's address that comes under a different Amphur. Once registered anywhere else in Thailand, transferring to your real address is a much simpler process.
