after many years on retirement ,,i changed in january ,to be honest it was easy , also i had to get a kor ror 22 as we were married in the UK. even that was not that hard(i went on holiday and did it then) as for having a picture in the bedroom ,big deal our son took one of us standing smiling next to our bed,  everyone in immigration was pleasant as were the guys who came to the house ,never even left the front room .

The majority of westerners that are not coming to Pattaya and Thailand in general ,is because with the Baht so strong its expensive , thats why my family not coming  this year.

the company my son runs is importing ,,even the owner doesnt like coming,two export businesses in Leam Chabang near my sons have closed down already.The virus is just another nail in the coffin.

Just ignore the fact that the UK could have made the passport any colour it wanted prior to Brexit.

Why rent ? my wife bought our house ,its worth twice what we paid ,where we live every house that goes on the market sells(must be the right location) been happy here for years ,its where i will pop my clogs .

I have a Chevy built here in Rayong ,never had a problem terrific little car ,dont worry about spares ,they will not stop making them for the millions of cars and pickups around the world

Just watched the first  episode of Agatha Raisin ,a female private detective ,,well the first two series were ok ,but must admit this new one was the biggest load of deleted that i have seen for a long time ,they must have got a schoolboy on a school project to write it .

It Amazes me that the thread has gone on so long ,and that in this day and age anyone can believe that there is a "God" who made everything ,i have always believed that religion was just a form of control over the people ,take for instance Catholic "confession" that way the local priest held all the cards as he knew who had done wrong ,just a way of getting rich ,as all the religions are ,fantastically wealthy .

Not a problem.  I did exactly this only last week.  I had 9 months to run on my current passport and 6 weeks remaining on my retirement extension visa.  I went to the UK and got a new British (non European now since Brexit) Passport.  Got the new passport in 4 hours from Ecclestone Square.  Note now you have to book and pay online for this service.

 

My old passport was cancelled by the Passport Office (as you would expect) by curing off the top left corner, but my Thai Visa was still current inside.  When you enter Thailand at Suvarnabhumi, put your new passport details on the arrival card but where it says "Visa No." Use the number of the re-entry permit here.  Yes, as mentioned you will need a re-entry permit on your old/current passport before leaving the Kingdom.  On arrival, hand over the new passport with the landing card and show your old cancelled passport open at the page of your current extension and re-entry permit (to be helpful).  You will be stamped in your old passport and also in your new one.  The date you have to leave by will also be stamped in your new passport, and it will be the expiry of your current visa extension.

 

Then in a few days head to immigration with both passports and transfer what remains of your current visa extension into your new passport.  There is a special form for this procedure - i.e. transferring a visa from one passport to another.  Then once this is done, depending on how long your visa extension has left, you can extend for another year right there and then, or do it later as is your choice.  I would recommend doing it all and also getting a new re-entry permit all on the same day.  The you are up and running again for another year.

 

Can't comment on the Viet Nam thing as I have no knowledge of their long term immigration laws.  Hope that was helpful.

i did exactly the same ,when got a new passport in Britain last time , no problem when re entering .
