The birth of rock 'n' roll (much of it blues based) was without a doubt a musical renaissance.  I feel most fortunate to have lived it.

You and me ,it was a great time ,i lived in a flat in London next door to a famous musician ,just down the road from a group and a famous comedian and remember asking another now very famous and dead singer to stop playing his bloody guitar in the kitchen as nobody could hear the stereo, i sometimes cant believe that i a lad from the country was so lucky ,but they were far far different times ,"celebrities" then were in many ways just starting out and mixed in with all the other "groovy" people in London

I switched this time, last Tuesday at Jomtien, the female IO at counter 6 asked me why I was changing from Retirement and I simply said I didn't wish to lock up 800k, she got very snarly from that point onwards and made me go and fill in 2 TM7's by hand when I had 2 I had filled in on the computer, she also would no longer speak with me and only spoke to my wife, then palmed us off onto a more senior male IO, he was much easier to get along with.

The male IO spent a long time talking to someone on the phone and the wife tells me it was about his concern that I would withdraw the 400K from the bank and spend it, which of course I am entitled to do anyway, the long and short of it is we had our home visit from 3 IO's this morning and everything is hopefully on track.

I did say to the senior IO this morning that it was a massive pile of paper he had (about 20mm thick with the 3 lots piled on top of each other) and he gave me a bemused "Yeap"

The snarly female IO also told my wife that neither of us was allowed to go anywhere during the 30 day under consideration period, which is a load of garbage, I made the wife ask this morning during the visit if she was free to head up country and was told she could go anywhere she liked now that they had been.

Strange ,because i have heard before that she is a misery ,i told her the same reason back in november ,but when we actually did the change in jan ,she was laughing and chatting to my wife ,while i just sat there ,also the guy to the left of her that we had to see was nice as pie as well, although i did have to get a few extra photocopies , as i have said before i just sat and smiled a lot????

There has been a spike in fatal viral pneumonia cases in Thailand, but not Corona virus you understand.

I live in Pattaya and do not know of anyone in the City catching the virus. I think word would have got out by now. Maybe the climate here is not conducive to the spread of the virus and SE Asia in general seems to have got off pretty lightly.

My wife said that a monk told her there was one in Banglamung hospital. that was 3 days ago .

  5. After 14 years on retirement this year for the same reason as you ,apart from the extra paperwork ,no problems ,to be honest my wife is quite articulate ,she dealt with everything ,i just sat there and smiled ,except when immigration came to our house ,i sat with one of them outside most of the time as he had been to a town near where my wife and i used to live in the UK and we chatted about that.

Safest way is to get a home loan from the bank to pay for the house.

Bank staff are there all the way, and they ain't gonna let someone steal their money.

    Errors in your post.

    2. Your wife applies for the loan, the company might have a friend to influence the banks decision.

(as a non-Thai you probably won't be invited to play any part in the application)

    3. The bank staff pay for the house at the land office, in the room with your wife.

(as a non-Thai you won't be invited to participate)

This is not a process can done with a private seller, house will need to be a new build purchased direct from the developer.

Our son got a bank loan and bought the house , my wife seemed to do all the work at the land office along with her besty who is a lawyer ,mind you i paid all the land fees.

all seemed quite easy ,mind you the misses used to be an agent so she knows all the ropes i suppose . we bought the house we rented.

  7. Just back for a few minutes ,while the wife has a shower (i like a bath) me next, lol glad to hear your not depressed ,i did have a bout of that over 40 years ago ,dont want it again .

as to the amount of people who have read and posted on the thread ,i am amazed over a quarter of a million viewings ,,i thought maybe it would get a few ,but nowhere near this amount ,wonder if its a record and how much longer it will go on?
